Cain says willingness to admit mistakes is presidential
Chicago Tribune ^ | 10/24/11 | Rick Pearson

“The thing that I think is going to convince people that my campaign is credible is the fact that if I make a misstatement, I’m willing to retract it. If I make a mistake, I’m willing to admit I made a mistake,” Cain told reporters after a $500-a-person private fundraiser at a downtown steakhouse.

Asked by reporters if such a quality was presidential, Cain responded, “Yes it is, because the last perfect person was hung on a cross 2,000 years ago,” a reference to Jesus Christ.

Thanks Rick, I never would have gotten a Jesus reference without your help.

Smart move to address this head-on in an easy to understand way ... accentuates what people like about him.

Though Cain said in one recent CNN interview that abortion is a “choice that that family or that mother has to make,” he also said the procedure should be illegal.

Cain said nothing of the kind. He said that the decision regarding putting a baby up for adoption was the choice, not abortion. Quit slandering this fine man, who has never wavered in his opposition to abortion. Do not fall for the lies and spin of the MSM!

Sign of character - taking responsibility instead of blaming others.

‘nuff said.

A decent journalist would have reported how many people attended the $500/plate event!

Talk about disclaimers and covering your bases.
Reminds me of a Jesse Jackson quote: “God isn’t finished with me yet.”
More jive from the jive artist.

Why did he just explain that he was talking about an illegal abortion then? He knew what Morgan was talking about.

You are the one spinning.

Reagan had the courage to admit mistakes and accept responsibility simply because he was the man in the big chair.

“Yes it is, because the last perfect person was hung on a cross 2,000 years ago,”

How soon before all the other candidates steal this line...

“Look, let’s go back,” Cain told the America Live program. “See, he was asking me two questions. My position on abortion has been the same — on pro-life — has been the same throughout this campaign. And that is, I am pro-life from conception and I don’t believe in abortion. When he then tried to pigeon-hole me on my granddaughter being there as a victim of rape, then what would I do?” “The only point I was trying to make: A lot of families will be in that position and they are not going to be thinking, “Well, what does the government want me to do?” My position is no abortion. My position is no abortion. But all I was trying to point out was take the typical family in this country and you don’t know what they might do in the heat of the moment,” Cain explained. “Look, abortion should not be legal,” Cain said a moment later. “That is clear,” he said, adding that anyone who wanted to get an abortion would be breaking the law by doing so: “But if that family made a decision to break the law, that’s that family’s decision.”

Take from it what you will but they were both clearly talking about abortion.

I couldn't even get a Ping thread correct! But through preserving and willingness to listen to others advice, I finally got it right!

No wonder I admire Herman Cain. We are ALL imperfect. Fessing up to them is an entirely different story, no matter how embarrassing!

But once you do, there are SO many others who will guide you through it. That's what I love about my FR!

It is a wonderful thing, I have had a life time of slick, life time politicians and their being owned by everyone that gave them 5000 bucks. That is the heart of cronyism. Time to cut it out. The slick politicians gave the tax payers trillions in debt, and wish to pile on more.

So, to those who spent the last several days arguing, incident by incident, that Cain didn’t make a mistake but was being misunderstood, unfairly distorted etc, I take it now you will acknowledge a la Cain himself, that he did??

Not holding breath...

After all, anyone who suggested he did, was mercilessly attacked...

Cain did not say every misunderstanding is his fault, I know you would have loved to hear that, but it just isn’t so.
