To help get there, Gingrich said that after he wins the Republican nomination he’ll challenge Obama to “seven Lincoln-Douglas style three-hour debates” — with a timekeeper, but, he added to great cheers from the crowd, no moderator — repeating a promise he made at last week’s debate in Las Vegas.
Should Obama decline his challenge, Gingrich vowed to tail the president on the campaign trail, speaking after him in every town he visits — just like Lincoln did to Douglas.
“I will methodically take apart every Obama speech from October until the election,” he said.

Before the end of three hours with Newt, Obama would be invoking the mercy rule. I would love to see it.

Well... Obama has an easy escape right now. If Newt is the nominee, Obama will be forced to respond. I can picture the Newt campaign following the Obama campaign around the country.... dissecting his speeches and hounding him to accept the debates. Exactly how long can Obama duck Newt? How long can the media really cover for him?
I suggested that the Newt campaign list about 12 potential debate topics for him and Obama, and let the public decide exactly what the candidates are to debate. How, then, could Obama so blatantly ignore the will of the people?
I don't trust Newt.
How about Hillary? I’m concerned that the dems will put her or a primary challenger in the slot and that we will not be up against Obama at all. How would Newt - or any of our guys - fare against Hillary?
