Winning in politics isnt everything, its the only thing.
But how important a factor electability should be in a voters calculation remains very much in the eye of the beholder, leading to an active debate within the parties about who has the best chance to win next November and how much it should matter.
That fight is played out every four years as the two parties pick their presidential nominees. The party establishment and many members of the media tend to focus heavily on electability while the partys activist base prizes ideological alignment.
Electability usually doesnt matter to Republicans, said Alex Castellanos, a senior Republican strategist. All of us consultants can cite limitless examples of campaigns wrecked on the shoals of that false light.

um.. I like the dog... but the pen... not so much ...
The poster who posted that Ron Paul Push poll knows that fact but is still spreading his usual anti Perry astroturf.
Perry could probably move back to the head of the pack, if he were to talk about tax reform, with an eye to making the US competitive again.
The Republicans have a, once in a generation, chance to go through the entire tax system and eliminate unproductive taxes that keep the US from maximizing its competitive.

Concerted effort? To what end? Perry is polling at 2% in IOWA...there's no effort at all to tell people "IT'S OVER!"
Really, the guy did it to himself, he didn't need any help to run himself out of the race.
The rest of us just moved on to the next viable romney alternative - CAIN...
He needs to give simple straightforward statements that sum up his view then shut the hell up.
Let Romney ramble and go for the strong silent type, Rick.
She’s just gorgeous!!
I have a shepherd mix (Malinois/Akita/husky???). I will say this..I spent a ton of money on a 4’6”+ foot fence (split rail with heavy gauge turkey wire). He hops right over when motivated strongly enough. He either hops to the top rail, or he gets a foothold on the wire and over he goes. They are escape artists.
What concerns me is that the dems will find some pretext to run a primary challenger (Hillary??? - God help us) and then it could be some tough sledding for whoever we have on the slate. Is mine a genuine concern or is it too late for a dem primary challenger?
Gosh Windflier. Do you ever paint with any other colors?
Now that’s funny. Bitter is still the new black for the former Palinistas.
Dax is a Dutch Shepherd, and yes, she can jump. At six months, she hopped through the window of my 4WD truck from the downhill side and tried to steal it by trying to turn the key with her teeth. She pulled it out of the ignition or she and the truck would both be dead (it was parked in gear).

All those bags of black beans coming out of the voting booths are about to slap Rick in the face.
Most electable most conservative, and we will best Obama!
I think it's an extremely legitimate concern. Unless the dems plan widespread cheating at the polls (I'm sure they do) - Obama does not have a leg to run on. However, if they bring in a primary challenger - they can run on change again - and make it much tougher for us to win.
I think there's at least a 50% chance our nominee won't be running against Obama. As far as it being "too late" for a challenger - there are ways around that - if, for some reason Obama is unable to run. Don't put anything past them.
Newt has best chance of beating him to a pulp and not letting him get up. The rest will give him the respect of the office and not take him to task relentlessly
oh ! that makes more sense :)
