The heir to the Saudi throne, Crown Prince Sultan bin Abdel Aziz Al Saud, died abroad Saturday after an illness, state TV said. The death of the 85-year-old prince opens questions about the succession in the critical, oil-rich U.S. ally.
Sultan was the half-brother of Saudi Arabia's King Abdullah, who is two years older than him and has also been ailing and underwent back surgery last week.

Perhaps will move the Kingdom closer to ... democracy.
Just think -
When Prince Sultan bin Abdul Aziz Al Saud was born he and the other Saudis didn’t know what toilet paper or a shower was.
By the time he died they had enough money to buy half the countries on earth.
I can’t see how the timing of this death can be good.
I was think closer to shiara. The chances that this will turn out well for the U.S. or for the Saudi people are essentially zero.
The King is also in his 80s, weighs over 300 lbs and has diabetes. He is not long for this earth.
With the Crown Prince dead, a sudden death of the King could create the exact turmoil that Iran is waiting, and planning, for.
An unstable Saudi Arabia will drive oil prices up so high, that the world economies will collapse all at once.
This is the precise trigger that the socialists and islamists are looking for.
I started to answer your first post and caught your last post. I am afraid the infighting there will not be in anybody’s best interest. The house of saud is not exactly a loving family and would slit each others’ throats in heartbeat. They cannot afford a show of disunity and turmoil. Especially with iran salivating for war with SA.
Right. This could not have happened at a worse time.
You say that as if you believed Iran couldn't arrange for an unfortunate (dare I say "unexpected") medical misadventure in a NYC hospital...
This guy is next in line;
Abdullah Bul Bul Ameer
The sons of the Prophet were hardy and bold
And quite unaccustom’d to fear.
But the bravest of all, at least so I am told
Was Abdullah Bul Bul Ameer.
If you wanted a man to encourage the van
Or to harass the foe from the rear
Or to storm a redoubt, you had but to shout
For Abdullah Bul Bul Ameer
There were heroes in plenty, good men known to fame
In the army then led by the Czar.
But none of more fame than a man by the name
Of Ivan Petrovski Skivar.
He could imitate Irving, tell fortunes with cards
He could play on the Spanish guitar
In fact quite the cream of the Muscovite team
Was Ivan Petrovski Skivar.
One day this bold Russian had shouldered his gun,
And with his most cynical sneer,
Was looking for fun when he happened to run
Upon Abdullah Bul Bul Ameer.
“Young man,” said Bul Bul,”is existence so dull
That you’re anxious to end your career?
For, infidel, know you have trod on the toe
Of Abdullah Bul Bul Ameer.
“So take your last look upon sunshine and brook.
Send your regrets to the Czar.
By which I imply you are going to die
Mr. Ivan Petrovski Skivar.”
Then the brave Marmaduke drew his trusty skilbouk.
Crying, “Allah, il Allah! Allah!”
And on slaughter intent, he ferociously went
For Ivan Petrovski Skivar.
On a stone by the banks where the Danube doth roll,
Inscribed in characters clear,
Is “Stranger, remember to pray for the soul
Of Abdullah Bul Bul Ameer.”
A Muscovite maiden her sad vigil keeps
In her home by the cold Northern Star
And the name that she murmurs in vain as she weeps,
Is Ivan Petrovski Skivar.
It doesn't have to be Iran....it would be one of Iran's proxies that occupy the White House......
The Saudi prince who just died was older than his country.
Thanks thouworm. I’m sure everything will be just fine now. ;’)
