Iowa Rep. Steve King (left) and Texas Gov. Rick Perry (right), who is running for president, went pheasant hunting in Iowa Saturday.
MERRILL, Iowa -- Rick Perry often waxes eloquent about his wife Anita as the love of his life, but today in Iowa he disclosed to journalists another "long love affair" that has affected him since he was young.
With guns, that is.
"It was a long love affair with a boy and his gun, that turned into a man and his gun, that turned into a man and his son and his daugher and their guns," an orange-and-khaki-clad Perry said of his relationship with firearms before a pheasant hunting trip in northwestern Iowa.
Perry, who took questions from reporters before the shooting expedition with Iowa Rep. Steve King, called family hunting "part of America" and said that teaching children the safety and the mechanics of firearms is "one of the great American traditions."....

John Kerry supports taxpayer funded subsidies for ILLEGAL aliens. So does Pandering Rick Perry.
I think 'rational people' will see that for what it is.
“I understand the sentiment and feel much the same way but with regard to language and nuance Perry is politically tone deaf. I so much wanted to like and get behind him too -In a way hes been more of a disappointment than Sarah deciding not to run.”
I talked to a conservative guy from the northeast today who expressed the exact same sentiment.
We call those liberals.
This wasn’t a photo op.
Perry hunts and shoots about as much as others play golf. It was opportunity for him to hunt pheasant(yumm)and I would have been shocked if he had turned it down.
I did a test and went to the latest Cain thread. I see no Perry supporters over there trying to shout it down.

Iowa's Christian Conservatives Gather Tonight to Hear GOP Candidates
His wife may want to tuck them away after the next series of polling comes out.
I had a revelation today of what is going on. I see very clearly now. Keep the faith. Perry is going to win, I have an inside source.
I love guns too, in the hands of bonafide American citizens. Unfortunately, that’s not quite the reality here in Rick Perryland where you can simultaneously be illegal to be here, be armed in a sanctuary city and have in state tuition waiting for you.
The good news is the constant effort to bash him can only mean they are worried...
Hey, I have an idea, lets demonize all the GOP candidates,
I only demonize the liberals like Romney and Perry. I NEVER bad mouthed Palin who I would have been proud to have as my President. Go Cain 2012.
That's how I know this is all crap. Romney is defended on threads where Perry trashes him. That is how you know who your enemy truly is.
I get the **ck, but what is the grudge part?
“I talked to a conservative guy from the northeast...
We call those liberals.”
My personal experience is conservative guys outnumber liberal guys up here by a wide margin. And liberal women outnumber conservative guys by an even wider margin.
Even down to the nitty gritty of what light bulbs can be on our store shelves...
And the mandated ones are an environmental nightmare...this, from your Federal Government which claims to be “green” and which claims to be helping you.
RP’s words reflect my sentiments exactly, and he has fought these tinpot dictators every step of the way...
A Romney he “ain’t”, no matter how many times the lie is told...
There was a post about Cain's website not working for donations for those using a certain browser. I went to Cain's website at the request of the poster of the thread.
I'm a Perry person, but not a snarky one. Sorry I can't say that about all the CainTrain people who have hijacked this nice hunting thread.
I have become convinced that many “Freepers” are not conservatives at all. They fight just like girls and liberals. They call names and trash each other over the internet.
Exactly.
And you can bet when those polls emerge, there'll be no "Texas Miracles" in the governor's mansion that night.
