Sounds to me like Bachman's campaign may be coming to an end.

Had high hopes for her at one point. Should she chose to bail, I believe she still added value by helping ensure 2012 GOP conversations were about Conservative ideas. I’m leaning towards Cain right now.

Early reports have a couple already seeking out Perry.

If true, why now? I would have to chalk it up to some bad debate performances, especially the last long incoherent answer on the economy and what to do about the mortgage foreclosure rate in the last debate.

It’s because there’s no hope in her raising additional money. Her campaign fell apart after the straw poll.

When Rick Perry first entered and took press coverage, there was no margin of error for Bachmann. She had to quickly move from talking points to substantive issues and come out with concrete ideas (like Cain’s 9-9-9). She didn’t do that. Additionally, her only hope was also to go after Perry and hope he would fade. Ironically, that happened, but when it did, the voters did not return back to her for the reason I just mentioned, they went to Cain.

Now what? Even if Cain fails, his voters aren’t going to Bachmann, they’ll probably move onto Newt. Bachmann’s polling weak everywhere now. Even by helping to take down Perry and Cain, she’s getting nowhere.

For all the heat Rollins took, he was right about one thing. Michele needed to win IA. She should have been there more often than Santorum. She got ahead of herself, though, by going on the offensive in NH, which burned through scarce resources. Additionally, it didn’t help she wasn’t able to get any key endorsements.

I like her and had high hopes, but now is not her time. I now worry she’ll jump on team Romney.

"Her entire staff was 7 people."

It was her entire paid staff in NH. There were probably many more volunteers. Who directs the volunteers? The paid staff, that's who. She basically has no footprint in New Hampshire. If you don't see this as a serious sign that she is running out of money and momentum, I don't know what to tell you. That's what I see it as.

I’m surprised that someone with so much promise has bombed out like this. I’m not sure I know why. I know her appearances at the debates were less than spectacular but the debates don’t seem dispositive to a campaign IMO.

Not really surprising.

In that last CNN debate, she made another whopper.

She implied that everyone should pay the same percentage of income tax — her counter to Cain’s 999. Then, she went on to say that every one should pay something, even if it is just $1.00.

Someone qualifying to pay $1.00 is not going to be paying the same percent as someone making $100,000.00.

Bachmann has a shakey history of making up data to fit her stand. On closer examination, it falls apart.

I made scathing remarks about Chris Wallace asking Bachmann is she was flakey. I think I owe Wallace an apology. I liked Bachmann early in the campaign, but she has been going downhill for a long time, now.
