A radical market-driven approach devised by the Heritage Foundation and favored by conservatives. Current tax incentives for employers providing health benefits would be abolished. They would be replaced with a system of tax credits for individuals, coupled with a requirement to purchase private health insurance if the tax credits are substantial enough.

Heritage has always been a shelter for RINOs who were out of power. They have presented crony capitalism as free-market over the years. Sarah Palin was right on crony capitalism and Heritage Foundation is one of the groups that feeds off crony capitalism. STOP donating to Heritage if you have ever donated to them.

That’s why I have never donated to them. Individual mandate? The last thing I need in my life is yet another mandate.

I've never donated to them but in your effort to bold the big scary part you missed the mandate was tied to receiving tax credits part of the sentence.

That looks different from ObamaCare and, besides, this proposal is 20 years old—in fact it dates to a 1989 book. As it is, Heritage abandoned the idea and when Obama's DOJ attempted to use it to defend ObamaCare, Heritage filed a brief calling the DOJ liars for willfully ignoring Heritages changed policy views.

It's a think tank, it's going to have some bad ideas in its history.

I missed nothing, I pasted it in my excerpt. That part is moot because I don't want to be forced to spend my money for something that the government determines I must spend it on.

It's a think tank, it's going to have some bad ideas in its history.

Fraud or incompetence seem more like it. 20 years back, people like me opposed government mandating personal behavior. If Heritage filed a brief saying what you say, it only shows that they are cheats trying to cover up. They probably thrive on government doles given to them by RINOs. Anyway, you at least admit one point - that Heritage consists of fools with bad ideas.
