Was this Gaddafi's grisly end? Picture claimed to be Libyan dictator after he was killed when rebels finally captured his last stronghold
Slumped against the bloodied legs of a revolutionary fighter, this is the picture which Libyan rebels say confirms that deposed leader Muammar Gaddafi has been killed.
The former Libyan dictator was reportedly found cowering in a hole in the ground at the centre of Sirte, after rebels moved through the seaside town during their final assault.
Fighter Mohammed Al Bibi told reporters that the toppled tyrant had pleaded 'Don't shoot, don't shoot' as he attempted to surrender.
There were multiple reports in the Arab press that he died after suffering wounds to the legs.

That’s one less dictator for Obama to bow to.
Arab-run and muslim-run countries have been at war with each other for centuries. We're now just joining in the fun, now that we have the right [fearless] leader!!
The dictator is dead, soon to be replaced by a bigger, meaner, more aggressive dictator. That’s called progress in the middle east.
I guess his disguise was he was wearing pants rather a dress.Sorry, It didn’t work.
First thought I had was how Obama the Muslim is going to take credit for this..and I really think he will.. Now go and be with your Father the Devil..you piece of trash..
The part that nags me is the "body double" problem. Situations like this make it difficult to get absolute confirmation that the body represents the correct thug. I REALLY didn't like it when the focus went to hell when they hung Saddam. It would have been easy to pull a switch.
How long until Gadhafi’s replacement meets the same fate...and then the next guy...and so on....and so on.....
Well it appears that Bush was right. Light the fuse and these dictators would start falling one by one. Now we’ve just gotta worry about what comes next...
Nah, that’s Generalisimo Francisco Franco. He’s still dead.
Maybe it wasn’t rebel forces that killed him. His convoy was hit by NATO jets. My guess is they were acting on intel. Then there would be some sort of NATO ground presence available to check the result of the airstrike and deal with the aftermath, say the SAS or some French or Itie equivelent. They find Qadaffyi and dispatch him. Didn’t Hillary say in Tripoli three days ago that he was going to be KILLED?
The soldiers should have killed Saddam outright. He was armed. But there is a law that rulers are not killed by soldiers.
The man was a brutal tyrant and most certainly deserved his fate but dragging his dead body around and displaying it in revelry is wrong.
I know it’s Qaddafi.
He looks better dead than alive.
It’s him.
will be interesting to see what happens now.
So this is what happens to Obama’s friend. What did he do, smart off to reverand Wright?
Neither will the White House. They can't claim credit.
Looks more like Ray McKinnon-the guy who played the preacher Henry Weston Smith on HBO’s DEADWOOD series...
It looks like Carlos Santana to me. (kidding)
In full uniform dress to the bitter end I see...
He’s not had any power since Reagan lobbed those missles in his tent 30 years ago. So the rebels got him. He’ll be replaced now with another stooge. How this character lasted all those years snubbing his nose at the US is anybody’s guess. Guess we never wanted to seriously take him out. Well he’s dead now. Who cares. But, watch Rambo Obama get on national TV and report the news, like he personally killed him. Or he’ll let Hillary Clinton announce to the world that he’s dead. This crap is getting so predictable. And the death of this powerful tyrant will drop the price of a gallon of gasoline down to $1.00? Or my house is not going to be foreclosed because he’s dead? What American cares about another two bit dictator in a banana republic that got too big for his britches. I don’t know of any.
