Was this Gaddafi's grisly end? Picture claimed to be Libyan dictator after he was killed when rebels finally captured his last stronghold
Slumped against the bloodied legs of a revolutionary fighter, this is the picture which Libyan rebels say confirms that deposed leader Muammar Gaddafi has been killed.
The former Libyan dictator was reportedly found cowering in a hole in the ground at the centre of Sirte, after rebels moved through the seaside town during their final assault.
Fighter Mohammed Al Bibi told reporters that the toppled tyrant had pleaded 'Don't shoot, don't shoot' as he attempted to surrender.
There were multiple reports in the Arab press that he died after suffering wounds to the legs.

LOL, Love that scene.
Would you really expect such a thing in Libya?
Yep...Iran's been working the people there for some time...after the tribal wars there will likely be an islamic leadership.
I mean, once you're dead, you are UNSTOPPABLE!
President Carter disposed the Shah of Iran, our friend, and created the current hostile Islamic Iranian State.
Now Obaba disposed another dictator who basically was minding his p’s and q’s and soon will arise another Iran. Just as Eygpt is becoming another Iran.
Beyond incompetence, far beyond.
Savages. Why couldn’t they just send him into exile?
Why didn't we send Saddam into exile?
Well what will happen NEXT will make Gaddaffi look like a saint in comparison.
I would have been fine with it if he were willing.
GWB offered him the opportunity. A nice Sardinian villa
would have cost less than a couple of cruise bombs.
BRB with a vid from the past.
“This will not help security for the US or Israel...”

Why is it that the middle east dictators simply don’t have an exit strategy? It seems odd - they have funds but end up dying in the country - hiding in a hole or sewer pipe. I suppose they think that they will win in the end but now there’s a trend.
Interesting 1980’s show predicting Gaddafi’s end here on earth.

Qadaffi needed to die...no doubt. Has had it coming for far too long.
But, when the leader of the largest military faction "rebelling" against him is a self admitted Al Quida leader, and a former prisoner at GITMO< I am not nearly ready to ay that Obama did a "goood" thing.
Egypt is clearly not a "good" thing and I think we'd best figure that these are tied together at the hip. The Islamic "Spring" is looking more and more like an Islamic Caliphate.
The people who killed Kadaffy approved of the Lockerbie Bombing. They were upset at Kadaffy for getting out of the terrorism business.
The only true freedom movement that went on...a year ago in Iran, was crushed and Obama stood back and did nothing when we had a golden opportunity to bring dow the Mullahs.
But that's not what Obama is about.
Wow. At one time I predicted that Ghadaffy would receive the “Full Mussolini” treatment when they got him, but from the looks of these, Mussolini got off easy...
The people who caught Mussolini didn't have a 16mm motion picture camera with them to document their capture of him. I'm sure it wasn't too pretty.
I think it is for 3 interconnected reasons.
1) They usually don’t have any other place to go to, where they’d be protected from harm. Especially if there is Western pressure to overthrow them. Most Arab dictators have diehard enemies in the Arab world too (among other Arab leaders & people). Both Saddam & Gaddafi were classic examples of this.
2) Culturally, when an Arab leader (strongman) ceases to have formal power, he usually is no longer respected by Arabs & non-Arabs alike; but especially by Arabs.
3) Most Arab leaders prefer to die in their ‘homeland’ because they have a superiority complex & think they are invincible as a result of retaining power for decades - they often think they are ‘loved’ by most of their people. They often genuinely believe that they own their people, have the right to ‘dictate’ or use force. It is also a form of saving face in their culture by staying put & not admitting failure or defeat. Or, choosing not to compromise. Compromise is viewed as a sign of weakness.
The Shah of Iran, his wife (tho not Arabs) chose to leave Iran. IMO, the Shah was authoritarian but not a dictator. But, if you remember, until the Shah died of cancer in 1980, he & his wife were forced to move from country to country every few months - even as the Shah was very ill & required constant medical attention. Anwar Sadat was the only leader who had the courage to invite and allow them to stay in Egypt under protection. But, then Sadat himself was murdered shortly after by a member of Moslem Brotherhood. Empress Farah (the late Shah’s wife) in her memoirs writes that at one point, they were kept waiting on a plane for several hrs. Later, she learned that Carter administration had plans to send them back to Iran. This was when Khomeini et al were indiscriminately executing anyone who had the slightest connection with monarchy.
OTOH, yrs ago, I heard that various senior members of the mullahs’ regime in Iran do have an exit strategy should someday sh*t hit the fan. A few have bought smaller, remote Islands in various parts of the world. They also seem to have parts of S. America as a potential refuge.
