Was this Gaddafi's grisly end? Picture claimed to be Libyan dictator after he was killed when rebels finally captured his last stronghold

Slumped against the bloodied legs of a revolutionary fighter, this is the picture which Libyan rebels say confirms that deposed leader Muammar Gaddafi has been killed.

The former Libyan dictator was reportedly found cowering in a hole in the ground at the centre of Sirte, after rebels moved through the seaside town during their final assault.

Fighter Mohammed Al Bibi told reporters that the toppled tyrant had pleaded 'Don't shoot, don't shoot' as he attempted to surrender.

There were multiple reports in the Arab press that he died after suffering wounds to the legs.

Of course not. You are comparing apples to oranges. We are talking about a national leader, a despot who has killed tens of thousands of his people and tortured many more. I have lived in several police states. You have no concept about the rage, anger, and fear associated with living in such places. I would have no problem with such despots hanging in the public square as an example of what happens to tyrants.

I live in VA. Our state flag contains the seal of Virginia with the Latin motto " Sic Semper Tyrannis" - "Thus Always to Tyrants". Adopted in 1776. The two figures are acting out the meaning of the motto. Both are dressed as warriors. The woman, Virtue, represents Virginia. The man holding a scourge and chain shows that he is a tyrant. His fallen crown is nearby.

And now it is emerging the Khaddafy was actually captured alive, then he was apparantly later in the day assassinated (executed) without a trial, by the Libyan Resistance, wounds to the head. This is will be a big problem. Khadaffy was in fact walking on his own power, with only a little blood (al Arabiya TV) and then later lifeless, and very bloodied (per al Jazeera TV) with his body disrepected according to Islamic customs. This is going to be a headache now. How are they going to spin this?
