Perry Can Still Win
MSNBC/The Daily Beast ^ | Oct 19, 2011 | Matt Latimer

Undoubtedly a team of scientists already has been dispatched to Las Vegas to study the phenomenon that tens of thousands of startled CNN viewers saw firsthand Tuesday night. For the first time in the five years since he launched his methodical, by-the-numbers, always placid, PowerPoint-inspired campaign for the presidency of the United States, an emoticon crossed Mitt Rombot's faceplate. In layman's terms, the former governor short-circuited. Even more surprising, the first person ever to dent that metallic exterior was the same one politicos had confidently written off only a few weeks ago.

Yes, Rick Perry - who in two months was transformed by the punditry from political sage to political sap - pulled off the feat that John McCain, Mike Huckabee, Rudy Giuliani, and Fred Thompson could never muster: getting under Romney's skin. Despite glowing reviews, Perry's was not an award-winning debate performance to be sure; one hopes someone will tell him to quit calling Herman Cain "brother." Yet his all but inevitable campaign comeback has commenced.

Did you watch that focus group of Frank Luntz’s on Hannity last night?

Perry has ruined himself. They would rather vote for Romney than Perry.

What does that tell you?

I find the whole thing disturbing.

The statist twins Romney and Ricky are beating each other up, which is fine by me.

Sorry if I offended you, but as a Methodist we don’t call each other “brother” or “sister”.

I do have friends that are Baptist and they use the term but only with other members of their church.

I haven’t heard him call any other candidate “brother” or “sister”.

Just an observation.

The Friends of Herman Cain presidential campaign committee reports total third quarter contributions of $2,813,341.52 with cash on hand of $1,333,778.56. The committee reported no debt.

Yes that was for the reporting period ending in September. However, Cain has reported that contributions had quadrupled in October.

Actually, it was quite a compliment to Cain since they have obviously shared their committment to Christ with each other because it rolled so naturally off his tounge. It’s very southern and western and shows a warmth toward the other person.

af_vet_rr, Better news than that. I’ve been tracking Intrade since last Sunday, and here is what happened:

Question:
In chances - Who will win the Republican nomination?

Sunday, October 16, 2011 - Morning
Romney: 67.3%
Perry: 14%
Cain: 7.9%

Monday, October 17, 2011 - Morning
Romney: 67.7%
Perry: 13.5%
Cain: 9.3%

Tuesday, October 18, 2011 - Morning
Romney: 66.3%
Perry: 13%
Cain: 9.3%

Tuesday, October 18, 2011 - EVENING / AFTER DEBATE
Romney: 65.8%
Perry: 15.5%
Cain: 7.6%

Wednesday, October 19, 2011 - Morning
Romney: 65.9%
Perry: 14.6%
Cain: 7.7%

Thursday, October 29, 2011 - Morning
Romney: 65.7%
Perry: 14.5%
Cain: 8.0%

ROMNEY IS SLIPPING.

_______________________________

Where you see the biggest difference though is in another question.

Who will win the Iowa Caucus 2012?

I had not been writing that down, but I am pretty sure remembering Romney was sitting in the high 50s / low 60s, maybe just over 60% on that one immediately pre-debate.

Right after the debate and yesterday, Iowa was sitting at an almost evenly divided race with all three sitting right around 30%, like 31.6%, 29%, 31.1% and the slight rest going to all the others, something like that. I remember thinking yesterday it was almost a dead three-way tie in Iowa.

Today:

In chances - Who will win the Iowa Caucus 2012?

Thursday, October 20, 2011 - Morning

Perry: 34.7%
Romney: 25%
Cain: 19.5%

Via Intrade:

ROMNEY WENT FROM a 50% to 60% CHANCE OF WINNING IOWA BEFORE THE DEBATE TO A 25% CHANCE TODAY!

ROMNEY is trending down, down, down, and no matter if one supports Cain, Perry, or whoever, we can at least rejoice together in seeing Romney’s stronghold breaking!

If you want to give Romney the nomination, support Perry.

Where did this talking point originate? Dem boards?

Here’s the counter: If you want Cain to be Romney’s VP, support Cain.

All the Luntz group loved Romney. Why would they like Perry, the polar opposite?

He’s not “ill-informed” because he’s been told repeatedly that is false. He’s a Dem shill.

The ‘talking point’ originated with logical people who aren’t deluded into believing that La Raza Rick has a snowball’s chance in hell of winning the nomination or defeating Obama.

Rick Perry is a distant 3rd or 4th. In some polls in early primary states, he has less support than Jon Huntsman. Trying to contend that Perry is a viable candidate is a joke.

Frank Luntz’s focus group on Hannity last night was a near-universal condemnation of Perry.

And Perry did it all by himself----from self-anointed front-runner cruising to victory----to a leaky garbage barge in just a matter of weeks.

Perry's mach one downfall ----facilitating his own downward trajectory-----is one for the political history books.

Most candidates know, as amatter of embedded political faith, that a candidate should n-e-v-e-r slapdown the people he needs voting for him.

It's a source of immense satisfaction that Perry's ill-advised in-state tuition is forever linked to his calling voters "heartless" b/c they disagree with him.

The data is driven by fund raising reporting requirements to the Federal Election Commission. July was the latest I could find. There may be other data out there but I do not have time to be your secretary. LOL.

Cain needs more money, so lets get behind him and donate.

McCain got the nomination because the conservative vote was split between Huckabee and Thompson. This time, Cain is in the Huckabee position and this time, he’s actual worthy conservative. Rick Perry is Fred Thompson.

Rick should drop out and stop being Romney’s stalking horse.

I was not aware of Bachmann’s association with Jimah. Never ever heard a blip of a news on that, and I am a regular follower of political news. But, I have no reason to doubt about its validity.

The fact still remains, Bachmann’s voting record in congress is arguably the most conservative compared to any one else. I do not consider her a flip flopper ala Mittster.
