Gov. Rick Perry likes to say the best way to promote economic growth is to reduce regulation. When it comes to the environment, Perry has made Texas one of the most industry-friendly states in the nation.
Perry has cut funding for clean air programs and sued the Environmental Protection Agency to avoid enforcing laws to make the air cleaner. As part of his Republican presidential campaign, he routinely blasts the White House for tightening environmental standards.
"As president, I would roll back the radical agenda of President Obama's job-killing Environmental Protection Agency," Perry wrote recently in an op-ed for the New Hampshire Union-Leader. "Our nation does not need costly new federal restrictions, especially during our present economic crisis."

The Texas tax and regulatory climate Governor Rick Perry inherited from Governor George W. Bush was already among the best in the nation

Yes but he made it better and pushed for tort reform and loser pays.

For GOP pols, tort reform is a stump speech perennial. Yet, like the weather, Republicans always talk about tort reform but never do anything about it.
But lawyers who annually siphon billions from the economy know that Perry is just crazy enough to actually push it through, because he already has.
Perry enacted medical malpractice reform in Texas, slashing payouts from bogus lawsuits. As a result, the doctors who left after being fleeced in the Lone Star state are flooding back by the thousands.
Then he signed a loser pays law letting prevailing parties recover their attorneys fees. Loser pays rips the guts out of the extortion model of litigation that has made trial lawyers so rich.
********************************
And if it was just existing tax and regulatory climate that he inherited—there are states who are better on taxes than Texas and had been equal on regulatory laws.
Perry may be a bad debater amongst other things but Perry has worked to bring business to Texas and he has. Bush does NOT get that credit.
This! Debates are words. We want and need someone who can get things done.
>>>The Chronicle is a liberal puke of a newspaper...
The Los Angeles Times of the Gulf Coast
If The Houston Chronicle is pushing Mr. Hair, then you know Perry is a liberal. Actually, he does fight the Feds on some items, but on the big issues he sides with RINOs and other leftist, rights-grabbing liberals.
How’s The Chronicle’s readership holding up? I thought everyone has already dropped the paper and moved out of town.
Texas poverty level
Compare it to other States.
http://old.usccb.org/cchd/pov/map.htm
Are most Texans less well off then the general population?
We have a high poverty level and that isn’t going to change until we secure the border and correct this illegal immigration problem that has been ignored for far too long.
We also need tort reform, loser pays and to choke off all those STUPID feel good regulations that kill jobs for the nation, not just Texas.
We have many poor hispanics in the south, they tend to have lower education and be younger with large families. I suppose this is why they thought in-state tuition would be good (though I disagree)
Texas is notoriously bad for not giving too many hand-outs—which makes the in-state tuition a head-scratcher.
We have job creation but we also have about 1000 people a day flooding into Texas, some from other states that are unemployed and as always—the illegals.
What we need are jobs nationwide. Perry took on the regulations here and he has taken on tort-reform and loser pays. Seeing that record helps me to trust he WILL do that as president.
Perry has defined his border plan based off of recommendations and studies of professionals, I trust that he will implement that plan.
Texas has paid 400 million Texas taxpayer dollars trying to do what the Federal Gov’t’s won’t do. I imagine if Texas had less illegals flowing in and those saved Texas tax dollars, our poverty level would sink immensely.
It is my opinion that Gingrich has the brains and Perry has the old cowboy drive to dog on congress and rein in this runaway gov’t. They have a record I can look to and see.
While Perry doesn’t suit you, he suits me just fine. I will continue to support him until or unless he is no longer a candidate.
Perry can’t fix the poverty level in Texas until this nation rights herself and starts enforcing her laws and upholding her duty to the states and her citizens.
I see Perry and Newt as the men to get the job done.
Thanks for the article.
The Houston Chronicle??
They NEVER have anything nice to say about Perry.
WOW!
It’s the Mexicans.
I blame Perry for lots of things, but not this.
I tend to disagree my friend. The debates are a gauge of how sharp each candidate is and how quickly he/she can respond. I do disagree with the formats however. No debate should have more than two candidates, just have more of them. But, unfortunately, the debates are a tool of the media for the media and not for the electorate......
The author of this thread has posted from every liberal rag she can find -- all in a failed attempt to revive interest in La Raza Rick Perry's train wreck of a campaign. This is a a partial list.
