Rick Perry is not the worlds finest debater. Just ask him yourself.
Im not the best debater up there, the Texas governor told the Las Vegas Review-Journal as he prepared for his fifth and final debate of the fall debate season.
He even tries to make his occasional tongue-tied moments on national television a plus.
I dont think Americans are looking for the best debater, he told the paper from Vegas, where tonights debate is being held. We probably have the best debater in the White House, and its not particularly serving our country too well.
Thats a good line. But spinning aside, what does he need to do or avoid doing during his evening on Sunset Strip?
1. Avoid making a major mistake.
~snip~
2. Focus the message on jobs.
~snip~
3. Put the immigration issue behind him.
~snip~
4. Make a case that he is the most electable true conservative in the race.
~snip~
5. Hope for a conservative mutiny against Cain.
Yes, this is out of Perrys control. But he could really, really use a gaffe by the former Godfathers Pizza CEO tonight. Maybe itll come from Cains response tothe likely question on Cains quip this week about building an electrified fence along the Mexican border with warning signs that you could die while trying to cross. Maybe Cain will commit a factual blunder or melt in the heat of the spotlight. Perry cant count on a self-inflicted wound from Cain. But it certainly wouldnt hurt.

Im not the best debater up there,
The first time he has told the truth in this life. Although that statement is very much an understatement. At least he feels the same pain and embarrassment the rest of us feels when he debates.
4. Make a case that he is the most electable true conservative in the race.
That is the most blatant lie I have ever witnessed on Free Republic. If this guy thinks he is conservative at all he is smoking some heavy drugs. Perry is a moderate at best.
Put 5 sentences together without stumbling.
What it boils down to is Perry needs Cain to beat himself.
It might happen, it might not, but the matter is out of Perry’s hands.
Why is an angry, homosexual, leftist moderating the GOP debate?
He needs to explain simply that the law didnt cost Texas taxpayers a dime, it granted no special benefit to illegal immigrants,...

The author wants Perry to lie to the people he offended with his “no heart” remark??
Doubling down on stupid is not a good plan.

Big names on list of companies ICE fined
Immigration and Customs Enforcement officials have decided that they are no longer releasing information to the public on companies fined for hiring illegal immigrants.
Despite talking tough about cracking down on employers who break federal immigration laws, ICE is withholding the names and other identifying information about the companies it penalizes, essentially protecting them from public scrutiny.
Richard Rocha, an ICE spokesman, said ICE attorneys have advised them not to disclose information about the fines because of a pending case before the Supreme Court that looks at whether corporations have a right to personal privacy.
Wed make the argument, however, that there is a public interest in learning which companies were fined. We have a copy of the list of companies hit with civil fines from 2007 through mid-July and, which was converted into a database and published here on the blog. (To view this database, click on the continue reading this post link at the bottom.)
For example, Westex Well Services, a company headed up by Texas Tech University Regent Mickey Long, paid $60,984 to immigration officials earlier this summer. (Thats the 16th largest fine nationally and the third-largest in Texas since 2007.)
Long was appointed to his regent position by Gov. Rick Perry in February 2009. He has contributed $135,000 to Perrys campaign over the years and is listed as his co-chair for fundraising based out of Midland. (Long did not return phone calls to his home or business seeking comment.)
There are some big names on this list of 220 companies: Koch Food of Cincinnati, LLC ($536,046), Johnson Dairy LLC out of Colorado ($100,800), and American Rice Inc. of Texas ($5,486).

I didn’t even know there was a debate tonight. This campaign is making me glassy eyed. I am ready for the general election already. We need to pick a warm body whos name is not “Willard” and lets go.
“have a heart”
I understand that CNN is broadcasting it?
We need to pick a warm body whos name is not Willard or Perry or Paul and lets go.
Fixed it for you.

6. Write refund checks to his contributors.
I think that is an excellent question. You could cerrectly say that the Pubbies are stuck on stupid. But I think honestly there is more- and that is, the debates (the more the better) give the biggest bang for the buck- at no cost to the candidates.
1) announce he is dropping out
2) announce he is supporting Herman Cain for President
3-5) Three trough five not necessary
Pretending Perry can put the immigraton issue behind him is as dumb as as pretending Romney can put Romneycare behind him.
