Vice President Joe Biden lashed out at critics today who have claimed that his and the President's efforts to get a job's bill passed is mere "campaigning."
"Are we campaigning?" he said. "Yes! We are campaigning to change this environment."
Biden was in York, Pa., visiting the Goode Elementary School to argue that the American Jobs Act would support 400,000 education jobs.
Because of budget cuts, the York School District has been forced to lay off 100 teachers.
Waxing at times poetic, Biden stressed the importance of education in keeping the nation competitive.
"If our students suffer, our future suffers, Biden said, adding, "They are the kite strings that lift our national ambitions aloft."

“Because of budget cuts”
What freaking budget cuts?!
A New Spending Record
Washington had its best year ever in fiscal 2011.
Since when did kite strings hold the kite up?
I wish one of these reporters would ask the President how he feels entitled to steal from the American taxpayer to pay for his campaign expenses in light of the fact that his campaign is sitting on tens of millions of dollars while a sizable percentage of Americans are watching their standards of living decline month after month.
Does this moran realize that kite strings do not lift a kite, air preasure does.
Stand up Chuck!
Yes they are campaigning, BUT they can't say they are campaigning or they can no longer use public money for the "jobs tour" they have to use 2012 campaign funds. Biden might have just stepped in it big time.
We just got our annual healthcare enrollment information at work - Our payment for medical coverage is only going up 40% this year (the co-payment went up 150% last year), dental is going up 44% and vision is going up 101%. It makes me feel so virtuous knowing that besides taking care of and paying for my own family, I have the privilege of helping those who have not won lifes lottery.
The fact that my savings plan that Ive contributed to for the last 30 years to avoid being a ward of the state has decreased after barely coming back from the big dump it took in 2007 just makes me feel all warm and tingly that Im helping the less fortunate.
Hows that fundamental change working out so far??? Sux big time!!
WONDERFUL NEW MATERIAL HERE!
I can’t stop laughing!
“These kids deserve the same chance we had,” he said. His mother would tell friends a child becomes what you expect of them. “We should expect a lot of these children. And if we give them half a chance ... we can be surprised what they do,” he said, concluding his talk.

“An investment in knowlege pays the best interest,” he said, quoting Benjamin Franklin. Everyone in the room can remember one teacher who helped, encouraged and inspired them, he said.

He said provisions of the jobs act are not about politics, they are about helping communities. “This isn’t about class warfare, it’s about paying your fair share.”

Biden said officials recommended he visit this particular district because of many things it is doing right.
He noted York City teachers opted to freeze their wages to help maintain full-day kindergarten.
Studies show these kids will do better with early education, he said.

Despite obstacles, you are making progress in reading and math, he told those present. He said the students he met just prior to speaking were “so bright...so polite.” When he was in fourth grade, he said he stuttered, but he had teachers who reassured him that he was smart. “These kids are incredible,” he said of the Goode students. But there were 22 kids in the class last year, and this year there are 30, which affects learning, he said. There are no gym teachers, art teachers, music teachers, he said, adding the teachers remaining are stretched too thin.

He said he particularly wanted to visit an elementary school to illustrate the cuts impacting young children.
The “impact is devastating...Early education is the most critical point, the most critical moment” for a child.” It affects all aspects of a child’s later life, he said. We don’t have time to wait 13 months for the results of the next election, he said.
11:30 a.m.
He talked of helping people with their taxes and mortgage payments, jobs rebuilding infrastructure.

School Budgets: The Worst Education Money Can Buy
Camden High School, with an enrollment of 1,200 students, has less than a 40 percent graduation rate, and the former district chief of security Thomas Hewes-Eddinger has called it a mini-jail. Yet the district spends $23,356 per student, more than twice the national average.
Trenton, N.J., the third most expensive district ($20,663 per student), has a 41 percent graduation rate. New York City, number seven on the most expensive list ($19,146), is at 51 percent, 26 percent lower than the national average.
Jobs... JOBS... A three letter word... JOBS!
I thought that was what all the money we spent in the ‘stimulus’ was supposed to be for! JOBS!
These people are damn fools (or think we are)!
Biden and Obama are campaigning for Higher Taxes, more EPA regulations and more financial obligations for the American People.
They don't want ANY Republican votes, nor Independent, but only true Progressive ones from folks exactly as they are.
Cuts, Mr. Biden? I think Drudge had a headline only yesterday that spending was up 5%!
Ping.
