I actually thought this was John’s semi-satire (courtesy ping, John). Truth is stranger (and uglier) than fiction.
So did I. That's what makes John so good. He wirtes the kind of thing they could say in an unguarded or excited moment. They believe this stuff, and we all recognize it when he writes it, and sometimes it takes a moment to realize that it actually never was said, it's satire.
