PHOENIX - After first apologizing for suggesting an electric fence along the border, Republican presidential candidate Herman Cain told reporters here Monday that he still thinks it's a good idea for controlling illegal immigration.
"I'm not walking away from that," he said.
Cain has spent the last several days explaining a controversial comment about building an electrified fence along the U.S. - Mexico border that he said could kill people trying to enter the country illegally. On Sunday, he said his comments were "a joke." But talking to reporters here after a meeting here with Maricopa County Sheriff Joe Arpaio, who has made a national reputation for cracking down on illegal immigrants, Cain reversed course.
Initially Cain apologied when told his remarks had upset some in the state. "Mea culpa, mea culpa, mea culpa," he said, using the Latin formula for expressing contrition. But when a reporter challenged his description of his comments, saying he didn't seem to be telling a joke, the retired pizza executive acknowledged: "You're right." He said he still believes in the need for a border fence "and it might be electrified."

Yeah, baby!
You betcha! Think of the electricity that it would save.
” So, another of the post police shows up. Typical of you Perrybots. You have a candidate whos tanked, your efforts here have gone for naught, and now its time to attack those youve tried to draw in to your threads. You people make me laugh. Besides Perrys obvious shortcomings, you are the biggest turn off of all.”
Perrybots are worse than the Perry disease. Maybe this would be a propitious time for Perry to have another photo-op with La Raza & ACORN.
Seriously, it’s a little presumptuous for people with no real knowledge of Texas or border problems to make know-it-all posts.
Take the story of two states with large Mexican populations, legal and illegal.
California has gone completely down the drain, sold out to minorities, driven business away and gone broke.
Texas, on the other hand, with an even bigger problem has remained, under Perry, a conservative, business friendly state that is doing well economically when a lot of states aren’t.
He’s done this without making sweeping grandiose statements about alligators (ha, ha-that was a joke) but continuing to make serious efforts to control the border which is a national job that has been left to the state of Texas.
Drill, drill, drill and then hand over the profits to his beloved wetback wards.
Like your tagline says, we’re just heartless, and now we’re clueless according to these Perrybots. Heartless, clueless, defensive, liberals, we’ve been called them all by these people over the past few weeks. just because we won’t back their open borders candidate of choice.
A lot of work has gone into this effort on FR to create the myth about Perry. And what’s the result? Their candidate exposed his own foibles, ending with his inevitable tanking in the polls. Will he recover? Who knows? But it’ll be without my help. I don’t help, I don’t join, people such as these who have been so rude and offensive just because I don’t roll over and play their game.
See post 187.
the myth man is Cain.
"I have a message for the political elites in Washington, D.C. The United States of America is not going to become the United States of Europe, not on our watch."
~Herman Cain
And all your friends.
I’ve read all the posts on this thread and I have not seen one substantive post supporting Cain.
I’ve seen a lot of posts insulting Perry and making insinuations that just are not true about illegals and the border.
Is that all you people have.
Perry has a record and one to be proud of.
Cain has a mouth which he opens a little too often to make statements he is forced to retract.
If the Cain train derails and he needs money and organization, what will he do? What if he hops on the good ship Mitt?
What then, Cain supporters?
Seriously, it's big-time presumptuous for people to suggest others have no understanding of issues. And it's a big turn-off; especially when your purpose is to promote a candidate. You call me clueless. Well, that can be said for you and your Perry cohorts who berate us who don't fall on our sword for your open-borders candidate. You've become the biggest turn-off of all to your candidate's potential gaining of support by the way you handle your threads and those who come here with legitimate criticisms.
I categorically refuse to join you or your group of air-heads who believe recrimination is the means to gaining support. As I said in a FReepmail earlier today, you people are worse than the Paulbots of 2008. They posted the same drivel over and over and over, never contesting points, never debating issues. All you do is get in people's faces, then become defensive when called on it, and call them everything under the sun for recrimination sake. Good bye.
Goodbye?
Is that forever?
Oh, well. I have to go to a meeting. Enjoy yourself.

I still like minefields and concertina wire. Nothing says “Not Welcome” like a sign saying “Warning: Minefield” on top of a 20 ft. razor-wire obstacle.
Thanks mk.. And arrowhead- sorry for that flippant comment. It’s not fair painting all “newbies” with a broad brush, trying to make them afraid to speak their mind
Especially cause I’m an old-timer- with thousands of posts here
Have a good day all
