Glenn Beck is trading ratings for runways.
The media mogul is releasing his own upscale casual clothing line with patriotic undertones that lets you protest Washington tyranny in style.
The clothing line, called 1791, is Becks newest undertaking since leaving Fox News in June, and aims to revisit that original blueprint of our Founding Fathers by recalling 1791, the year the Bill of Rights was added to the Constitution.
The idea had been brewing for several years Beck wanted to symbolize how hard it has become for businesses to be efficient in America. But only last January did Beck decide to create a clothing line around it, said his online magazine, The Blaze.
The collection 11 pieces strong is inspired by the eccentric talk jock himself, and includes Death to Tyranny zip-up fleeces with skull and crossbones graphics and Death to Tyranny polo shirts ($85 and $65, respectively). Its L.L. Bean-meets-tax rally, and because its for Becks charity, Mercury One, even designers are giving Beck high marks.
Its very basic, said Cibeline Sariano, a local fashion designer and owner of Cibeline Boston Boutique on Charles Street. But the selling point is the concept. He wants to create local jobs and promote clothing manufactured in the U.S. I would buy a basic zip-up hoodie just to help the cause.

Have never spent anywhere near 65 bucks for a polo shirt.
Mew=new.
Death to Tyranny polo shirts
The OWS will snap them up...
and no one else will either, especially $65 polo shirts with skull and crossbones that look like it was drawn by Beavis. So Beck will create no new US jobs and will continue to look like a nut. Which he may in fact, be.
Beck chose a very odd slogan. I'm unaware of it being particularly associated with the American Founding.
It is, however, a rough translation of what JW Booth shouted after killing Mr. Lincoln.
Probably won’t work. These things are waaaay over priced and he doesn’t send a good message in that some will infer that such items produced in the USA have to sell for such outrageous prices.
The general ideal might be a good one if he’d produce clothing at reasonable prices and without the over-the-top political messages. Just produce good clothing at a reasonable price under a patriotic brand name without screaming it at any onlookers.
Don’t you understand, that is what capitalism and the free market are based on. Entrepenuers like Beck. Sure he may need to lower his prices, but he may be successful.
It got to the point where his entire show was him repeating the same old phrases: "know what you believe," "I plead with you," "I beg of you," etc. I'd rather have him seriously analyze the issues rather give his pseudo sermons. Sorry if I've offended anyone who enjoys Glenn. A good guy, just hard for ME to listen to.
I’m just wondering who he thinks is going to purchase this over priced clothing line in this economy? I wish him well, just not sure this is the type of item to be offering when the economy is in the crapper.
I think Beck dresses like a slob. I sure would think twice about taking fashion advice from him. I did buy a couple pairs of Bill’s Khakis when Beck was shilling for them years ago. They are real nice pants.
You forgot the end is near and prepare yourself.
I love it when he digs up the connections. He’s darn good at it.
I think Beck dresses like a slob. // You’re right. That beardo thing of his ain’t making it either - unless joins the group on Wall Street.
“You forgot the end is near and prepare yourself.”

Now a word from our sponsor “Daily Bread.” Good Grief! :-)
As for the Beck clothing line, it as many things is a copy of another talk show host clothing.
The skull and crossbones design is the dumbest looking rendition I’ve every seen.
He could have gone in to any Harley dealer and gotten something 100 times better looking.
I have a collection of $85 silk Hawaiian shirts... I’ll pass on the polo shirts.
I cannot listen anymore, either, but for a different reason. The entire radio show has become one three hour long commercial for “GBTV”.
Now, it will be the clothing and GBTV.
My Sirius/XM will be on the Bluegrass channel until Wilkow comes on at noon.
I would love to get some of these, but after paying the 10.00 a month for the show, no way can I afford them.
Glenn knows the economy sucks but is charging THIS much?
