Republican presidential candidate Herman Cain said Saturday that part of his immigration policy would be to build an electrified fence on the countrys border with Mexico that could kill people trying to enter the country illegally...
Mr. Cain added that he also would consider using military troops with real guns and real bullets on the border to stop illegal immigration.
The remarks were among the most pointed yet by Mr. Cain about illegal immigration, and they come as he is enjoying a surge in national political polls on the back of his victory in a recent Florida straw poll..
It is not the first time that Mr. Cain has floated the idea of an electrified fence. He has told the story many times of a caller to his former radio show who chastised him for talking about building a border fence, saying that such an idea was impractical.
Its going to be 20 feet high. Its going to have barbed wire on the top. Its going to be electrified. And theres going to be a sign on the other side saying, It will kill you Warning. At an earlier rally, on the campus of Tennessee Tech University in Cookeville, Tenn., he added that the sign would be written in English and in Spanish.
This nation has always been a nation with wide open doors, Mr. Cain said at the second rally. We want to make it easy for people to come through the front door. And were going to shut off the back door so you dont have to sneak into America.

Unlikely to ever happen in our society of progressive liberals with the never ending
thought of rehabilitation will solve all.
The importance of Cains statement is that he understands the problems caused by
illegal aliens and is willing to address the problems in a serious and non politically
correct manner. Good for Cain. Now if Cain would back off the 999 plan or at least
admit the problems associated with it, or fix the problems associated with it, Ill be
back on his side again.
Open borders is just another form of amnesty. You just support it by a different name. You perry people are really slick.
We are allowed to defend ourselves under international law.
Besides, Mexican governments have always been relatively easy to buy off!
Pres. Eisenhower cleaned house and sent the illegals to Mexico City via ships. They didnt like it either. BUT IT WORKED.
That was when leaders were leaders. I don’t have a problem with that.
I miss the good ol' days when liberals were the emotional ones and conservatives were the rational ones.
All it takes to be the favorite FR candidate now is:
1.) Plenty of Red Meat sloganeering.
2.) Travel around the country hawking books.
3.) No attention whatsoever to the boring logistics of building a war chest to actually win the coming serious campaign.
4.) As long as the Red Meat sloganeering keeps coming, not even flat out support of Mitt Romney is noticed.
LOL! You have been telling yourself the same lie for so long, you not only believe it, you think you wrote it.
Perry never has been for open borders, ever. What he said was, that a fence would do absolutely no good in stopping the flow of illegals. AND HE IS RIGHT.
It will still take military guard and heavy patrols to stop the flow. The same will be required if a fence is built, which will increase the cost of border security. A fence is ridiculous and too expensive to even consider, and it won’t stop illegals from coming across.
About all it will do is make the smugglers even richer because they can charge double to get them across.
Build the wall! Cain for President! Perry go home.
A lib always outs themselves. And if he ain’t then why is he acting like one I wonder?
It is a national issue.
So do you propose the FED comes down and steals private land and deploys military troops?
It is a HUGE Problem but stupid slogans and stupid ideas does not fix the issue.
You have no case to make, moron.
Pretty sad when the New York Times “blog” gets taken at face value on FR for blowing out of proportion what Cain said and what he joked about..

from new york times, magazine interview:
“You said of the Great Wall of China, “I think we could build one” as a solution to our immigration problems. Are you concerned that as many as three million Chinese died building it?
[Cain:] My point was, if they could build that wall centuries ago without bulldozers, we can secure the border today. It could be a combination of walls and high-tech equipment. Now, if accidents happen, that’s one thing. But I think we can improve upon that ratio of three million people dying.

LOL! Bwahahahaha!
Perhaps Mr Cain can give us a simple phrase on the subject that we can all understand?
Yes, he may do that, we can all see that you're struggling to understand the more complex concepts of illegal border crossings.
Anyone wanting to engage you in rational discussion should consider your chosen screen name, check your post history at http://www.freerepublic.com/tag/by:psychofreep/index?tab=comments;brevity=full;options=no-change
and make an informed decision.
Frankly, I haven’t seen you make a sane post for months. May be years. May be ever. LOL
Thanks for the clarification Mr eminent domain
For what it's worth I almost voted against Perry on that very issue.
How much money has Cain raised in the last two weeks and how much does Romney have left out of 14 million?
Back off Reagan Boy, Perry is a loser just like you.
Ah, (troops) boots with loaded guns AND electric fences. Better our troops protect our border than be in Africa. jmo
