On Friday, Perry delivered his first major policy speech, outlining a series of executive actions that would accelerate exploration and production of domestic energy resources and create, he said, more than a million jobs. The next speech, scheduled for Oct. 25, will outline his plan for the economy, which has been a big hole in his message.
After the economic speech, Perry will tackle border security, foreign policy and government reform. The package of speeches, campaign officials hope, will do what the debates have not done, which is to flesh out Perry's profile as a conservative governor with the ideas and leadership qualities to be president.
In other words, the campaign that Perry's team hoped to run from the beginning will be able to start in earnest. He may have dug himself a deep hole with the four debates he's been in so far, but here in Austin, there is more defiant determination than pessimism in the concrete-walled command post.

WRT the next debate——should ask him how much time he spends posing for glamour pictures. Seems to do that a lot-—a casual surf of the web shows “Marlboro Man” Perry pasted all over the place. Sure likes his MM visage.
The reaction shots of Perry eyeing Romney at the NH debate were revealing——he knew he was supposed to respond to cut Romney down to size-—but the vacant look on Perry’s face told the story-—nobody was home.
I would encourage you to watch the speech too. It is much better when he delivers it.

It was their choice. They said good luck and goodbye. One of the threads that created the problem was the attack against Anita Perry. There were some well respected FReepers attacking her. It was way out of line as for as they were concerned. I just stay off threads like that mostly because of the vileness that happens. You might want to check out that thread.

I watched about half of the first video. I will catch up with the rest tonight.
One question, where is that Rick Perry? The one I saw in that vid was more of the Perry I had seen in earlier speeches and events. One that was smooth and confident. The Perry that is showing up at the debates and on interviews like the one he did with Kudlow this week is wooden, uncomfortable and just not a winner. He had better get back to the smooth Perry on the vid in short order or his campaign will be for nothing. He needs to get rid of the handlers or something.
BTW, the vid was filmed in the Frat house. You can see the composites on the wall in the background. He should not have kept that a private affair. People should have been able to see him relaxed and confident like he was there.
You know, at the height of PDS when Palin and her supporters were getting attacked non-stop with everything from Christian bashing to some of the worst delusional ranting I have ever seen on FR, I do not remember a single Palinista (and I are one) ever crying the blues that the big bad admins were “partisan”. In fact, I recently saw one come to Perry’s defense and smack down a poster who stepped over the line. And you have the freaking gall to bitch about management here?
At least have the decency to ping them if you’re going to go all DU on them. In fact, don’t bother. I’ll do it for you.
Your candidate is who he is and did what he did. Now he’s feeling the backlash. You don’t like that. I don’t really care. Deal with it or don’t. But do not expect whining like a spoiled liberal about management here is going to help him.
