Uh, what does calling someone out at a debate have to do with civility? That’s part of what debates are for, to draw contrasts. And Perry was an easy target for everyone, since it’s basically impossible to miss.

The point is that Perry was attacked constantly and never given a chance to outline any of his positive record and agenda.
How would you do in a debate, if the only question you get asked “when did you stop beating your wife”, then a follow up “you still didn’t answer, how much did you beat your wife and when did you stop” and so on? How are you going to find out anything about someone this way?

I'm a little tired of the whining about that myself. Last week it was Michele Bachmann's "low blow" to Herman Cain that caused crying from everyone but Cain.
People need to grow the hell up and get over it.
