Herman Cain has the highest favorable rating of any Republican presidential candidate among Republicans and Republican-leaning independents polled by Gallup, according to a survey released today.
Cain's 77-percent favorable rating edges out former Massachusetts Gov. Mitt Romney, whose favorable rating is 72 percent, says Gallup.
Former House Speaker Newt Gingrich is third at 66 percent, Texas Gov. Rick Perry is fourth at 63 percent, former Sen. Rick Santorum is fifth at 62 percent, Rep. Michele Bachmann is sixth at 59 percent, former Utah Gov. Jon Huntsman is seventh at 54 percent, and Rep. Ron Paul is eighth at 53 percent.
The survey was conducted between Sept. 26 and Oct. 9. The respondents were asked whether they had a strongly favorable, favorable, unfavorable, or strongly unfavorable view of each candidate. The percentages reported above were the combined responses of stongly favorable and favorable.
Herman Cain also had the lowest unfavorable rating--13 percent. Romney's unfavorable rating was 18 percent.
Cain's favorable rating has gone up slightly and Romney's has gone down slightly since the last time Gallup polled Republicans and Republican-leaning independents on how they viewed Republican candidates. In a survey conducted Aug. 22-Sept. 4, Cain had a favorable rating of 73 percent and Romney had a favorable rating of 71 percent.
In that Aug. 22-Sept. 4 poll, Perry was tied with Cain with a 73 percent favorable rating.
Palin would be far better than Romney?
“As details come out on his 999 Plan, he will plummet...”
Prepare to be attacked for daring to speak with a clear view of reality.
How many folks here remember 1988?
Do you remember George H.W. Bush’s famous pledge?
“Read my lips — NO NEW TAXES!”
Do you remember, a couple of years later, how he reneged on that pledge?
Do you remember how he was “fired” by the American electorate for breaking his word?
And now, some 23 years later, “conservatives” (at least those who call themselves such) are falling all over Herman Cain. Falling all over someone who’s main campaign “idea” is to impose a new national tax of almost 10% on EVERYTHING we buy.
What ever happened to “no new taxes?”
Am I allowed to ask that here?
How many “conservatives” here think that lower, working class, and even middle class voters are going to be persuaded that a new tax (again, of almost 10% on everything they buy) is going to be GOOD for them?
Again, do you really think this is going to garner votes for our side?
Just askin’...
Progressives all want the constitution destroyed and the nation over turned. Rinos are progressives, they hate the Republic, they are Republicans in name only. Both Romney and hatcheck whatever his name houseman are progressives and I am very suspicious of Perry. Perry is at least progressive lite.
I don’t like his tax plan, but it will never be enacted. If anything is, it will be even worse.
I’m surprised I haven’t been flamed yet.
It sounds good until you take a sober look at the reality. Just the gas tax increase will affect my wages. Commuting isn’t cheap. Add that 9% on tires, maintenance, etc. Sheesh. And does anyone believe prices will go down?
I don’t trust politicians. What is 9% today can be 12% tomorrow and what is to stop them? Both parties are spendaholics. They certainly walk across the aisle when it comes to picking our pockets.
I like Cain, but I’m with my Governor Perry if Cain doesn’t work out.
You have Obama, Romney, hatcheck and Perry in one box labeled progressive and they all hate this nation.
In a second box there is Cain, Bachmann, newt, Paul and I have lost the remaining names who are all Republicans and they all love this nation.
Agree with you Friendofgeorge.... Just go out and vote what your heart, mind and gut tells you... ignore the noise.
I agree with your gut feelings.

Cain, saying he doesn’t care if they audit the fed reserve
Your “dues” are never paid until you are physically unable to vote. If you don’t go vote next November, no matter who the Republican is, you will be a despicable deserter, a sunshine patriot, a traitor and a hypocrite.
999 won’t prevent me from pulling the lever vs Obama. But it definitely WILL prevent me from gladly doing so. But then, I will not be gladly voting, either in the primaries or the general. That’s already a fait accompli, if you’ll pardon my French.
I do.

Add this, if you don't have it already.
I'm not voting for Cain.
Romney may not hate America, but I think that he only loves Romney.
Herman Cain is on record as being against quotas, as shown by this 2004 article:

But the court gave the go-ahead to the University of Michigan law school to consider race on a case-by-case basis. This is very tricky. If it means that economically impoverished kids who happen to be minorities should get consideration for assistance, thats great. If that means that minorities get slots in place of white kids with better academic credentials, then that is not fair.
College acceptance should be based on how well a student has performed and excelled in school. Like everything else in life, people need to earn what they get, and earn it by working hard. Quotas are not the answer and they never will be.
How did you make a Paypal contribution? I went to the donate page, and it wouldn’t take my credit card for some reason, and there wasn’t a Paypal option.
Raising Cain!
