"Grenade-walking" part of "Gunwalker" scandal

"Grenade-walking" part of "Gunwalker" scandal

(CBS News) There's a new twist in the government's "gunwalking" scandal involving an even more dangerous weapon: grenades.

CBS News investigative correspondent Sharyl Attkisson, who has reported on this story from the beginning, said on "The Early Show" that the investigation into the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives (ATF)'s so-called "Fast and Furious" operation branches out to a case involving grenades. Sources tell her a suspect was left to traffic and manufacture them for Mexican drug cartels.

Police say Jean Baptiste Kingery, a U.S. citizen, was a veritable grenade machine. He's accused of smuggling parts for as many as 2,000 grenades into Mexico for killer drug cartels -- sometimes under the direct watch of U.S. law enforcement.

Grenades are weapons-of-choice for the cartels. An attack on Aug. 25 in a Monterrey, Mexico casino killed 53 people.

Sources tell CBS News that, in January 2010, ATF had Kingery under surveillance after he bought about 50 grenade bodies and headed to Mexico. But they say prosecutors wouldn't agree to make a case. So, as ATF agents looked on, Kingery and the grenade parts crossed the border -- and simply disappeared.

Six months later, Kingery allegedly got caught leaving the U.S. for Mexico with 114 disassembled grenades in a tire. One ATF agent told investigators he literally begged prosecutors to keep Kingery in custody this time, fearing he was supplying narco-terrorists, but was again ordered to let Kingery go.

What’s coming next, more RPG control?

Not next. Here's an article from July 22, 2011.

Worse Than Gunwalker? State Dept. Allegedly Sold Guns to Zetas

Phil Jordan, a former CIA operative and one-time leader of U.S. Drug Enforcement Administration’s El Paso Intelligence Center, claims that the Obama administration is running guns to the violent Zetas cartel through the direct commercial sale of military grade weapons:

Jordan, who served as director of the U.S. Drug Enforcement Administration’s El Paso Intelligence Center in 1995, said the Zetas have shipped large amounts of weapons purchased in the Dallas area through El Paso.

(snip)

“They’ve found anti-aircraft weapons and hand grenades from the Vietnam War era,” Plumlee said. Other weapons found include grenade launchers, assault rifles, handguns and military gear including night-vision goggles and body armor.

"Agent Kingery, I'm going to remind you that you are still under oath. Now tell me, Agent. Who exactly gave you that order?"

Great post..! The grenades, AR’s, etc are a big deal but for the long-term political future getting the “direct commercial sales” to the Zetas is the most important part. Here is why:

That’s a type of arms trade called, FMS, Foreign Military Sales, and it requires quite a great deal of intervention and oversight by the US Department of State —that would get HILLARY, big-time.

There has to be a license issued by the Office of Trade Controls, or DTSA, and if all their documentary ducks are not in a row, then each case is a FELONY for any party in that transfer chain —potentially dozens of people, including Hillary.

We need to make sure she gets dirtied up very well before running against Cain, because it’s going to be just like the Justice Thomas case.

But here’s another thing —Foreign Military Sales FMS is alllllways to a foreign state.

I don’t know of any case that a non-state actor has received US arms via the FMS route, to say nothing of a bloodthirsty group of narcoTerrorists being that non-state actor.

I would think it would be hard to get a license to arm organized crime syndicates in foreign countries. That is pretty much analogous to state-sponsored terrorism IMO.

I have been saying for about two months now that the aim of this illegal act was far more than trying to undermine gun rights. That was just a happy byproduct. The primary desired effect was to destabilize the Mexican government and other governments in the region and cause hundreds of thousands if not millions of refugees to pour across our border, straining OUR resources to the max. The difference between an illegal alien and a refugee is that you cannot summarily deport refugees and refugees are immediately given any government assistance necessary.

Since everybody wants to believe F&F was about more gun control...

It's not what we "want to bleieve", there just isn't any other logical explanation. The whole idea that it was about "tracking" guns, when there was never any plan at all to track them is ludicrous.

Anything that made the body count go up would just be included as part of the “problem” of American guns and the cartels. The media would never seperate who was killed by what. Look at how they just swallowed the whole lie about the percentage of “traced guns” to say 85% of “crime guns” in Mexico came from US gun stores.

It’s not about tracking guns, and it’s not about gun control.

They were arming somebody up. They intend for those weapons to be used in this country.

LOL Yes, they are. Sorry about the kick-back-to-reality response. BUT IT’S TRUE!

There's no evidence of that, but there's plenty of evidence of the gun control angle. Starting with both Obama and Hillary holding joint press conferences with their Mexican counterparts to publicize fake "traced guns" statistic and call for new gun control, and up to and including the Obama ATF order on sales of multiple assault weapons in border states.

Grenades are already controlled 100%.

What more control could you get?

If it was about gun control they wouldn't be letting grenades walk.

I find it a little hard to believe they would destabilize the Mexican Govt. on the hope of getting gun control legislation passed. A destabilized Mexico works against their argument for more gun control. The more violence there is in Mexico the more people that never thought of owning a gun are buying guns.

If it's about gun control it's not gun control through the legislative process, it would be through an executive order. For that to happen all hell would have to break loose on this side of the border. That would mean gun control isn't the ultimate objective, absolute power is the objective.

Like I said, as long as the body count goes up, why would they care whether some of them are from grenades? The media won't differentiate, any more than they did between the figures for US guns vs. guns from elsewhere. These cartels can easily buy any kind of weapons they want from around the world, and would have no problem bringing them into Mexico. They bring tons of cocaine in from South America, what are a couple tons of AKs and RPG, or Vietnam era M16s and Laws? But who knows, maybe somebody just told the ATF guys to “let weapons walk”, and never specified “no grenades”. So they let them walk.

Doesn’t really fit with F&F. Why? Because they can’t add “grenade registration”, since in effect they already have it. They can’t say that gun shops are supplying grenades to the cartels. Although I guess they could blather about components and put more controls on powder, primers and such.

Like I said, the more violence you get in Mexico the more people that never even considered owning a gun are buying guns.

The more people that never considered owning a gun before that are now buying guns for their own protection, the less likely there will be gun control through the legislative process.

Increasing the violence in Mexico is counterproductive in the argument for more gun control.

Gun control through the legislative process only works if the gun grabbers can stay in office.

The more people that feel it is necessary to own a gun for their own protection, the less likely that is to happen. They will simply vote the gun grabbers out and change the law.

For gun control through the legislative process to work, you have to decrease the threat of violence, not increase it.

Some very high up people at DOJ and State are directly working for one or more cartels.

Weren't there allegations that the Clinton's were knee deep in coke smuggling when he was still governor of Arkansas? I wouldn't put anything past those low life characters.

Regards,
GtG
