Occupy Boston protesters spit on Coast Guard member

BOSTON (FOX 25 / MyFoxBoston.com) - The Coast Guard in Boston confirmed that a woman in uniform was harassed and spat upon by Occupy Boston protesters.

The woman was walking to the train and said protesters spit on her twice, called her foul names and even threw a water bottle at her.

Now, the Coast Guard is warning all staff working on Atlantic Avenue to avoid those protesters while in uniform.

A group of Marines should make it a point to walk back and forth in front of these morons. Let’s see who is spitting then. And then the protesters will be spitting—spitting teeth!.

I wish they could. Their training prevents them from reacting unless their is actual viable threat to their safety. As a boxer has trained fists, a marine is a trained killer. As such, their very posture to attack a citizen in a street fight is different then if it were you or I. Likewise, a raucus group spitting and throwing things at us could invoke an actual fear for our lives and we would be amply justified in defending ourselves depending on the circumstances. A marine must answer to a court marshal. The standard expectation for the perceived threat a marine can expect is a little higher. That does not say they are not allowed to defend themselves if attacked. But they are not allowed to climb over a fences to beat the snot out of a couple dozen pot smoking hippies because they spit at them. You or I might get away with shooting them in self defense (though I don't recommend it). To bad really. These type of stories infuriate me.

There is no reason an unarmed person should be sent into a situation where they might be assaulted by multiple criminal morons just so the USCG can say, “Look how tough we are, we let ten protesters beat up 1 enlisted guy with no significant combat training.”

This is an excellent example of discretion being the better part of valor.

Devon Pendleton, a spokesman for Occupy Boston, doesn't believe that those male protestors are actually part of the movement. However, Pendleton wants to be clear, that if protestors are responsible for doing something so disrespectful, he'd like to apologize on behalf of Occupy Boston.

Excellent points. Those "protesters" represent only a tiny fraction of our population. The vast majority of us see them for the naive tools that they are and are just waiting for the police to get the green light to kick them out and send these over-privileged kids home to their mommies and daddies. In handcuffs if necessary.

But even that may not be necessary. There are actually more media covering the event than people participating in it. Take away the lights and cameras and all the other attention we are giving these bums and they will gradually slink back to wherever they came from. They are only there because of the media coverage. We need to stop allowing the tail to wag the dog!

There are less than 800 protestors living in Zuccotti Park and only a small percentage of them are even New Yorkers in the first place.

The MSM multiplier “makes” them a huge contingent of American "patriots" and makes the a Tea Party a couple of racist bigots.

IIRC, the DC rally in September 12, '09 was called "tens of thousands" and some MSM orifice made it exactly 87,000!

I was there. The overhead photos proved that it was anywhere between the high hundreds of thousands to an estimated 1.2 million.

Postponing the election, demands of 0b0z0's EOs to bypass the Congress and Communist protesters calling for Martial Law, will lead to a disaster fomented by the regular suspects and inflated by the MSM.

Without the Communist MSM's complicity and enabling the destabilization of the USA, this wouldn't happen. Therefore, the MSM shouldn't escape the punishment that many Americans will endure.
