Oh my: Cain 30, Romney 22, Gingrich 15, Perry 14
Hot Air ^ | OCTOBER 12, 2011 | ALLAHPUNDIT

Posted on 10/12/2011 5:30:43 PM PDT by RobinMasters

Alternate headline: “Republicans really, really, really don’t want to nominate Mitt Romney.”

Strong Tea Party support has Cain in the driver’s seat nationally, just as he has been on our last four individual state polls. With non-Tea Party Republicans Romney actually leads Cain 29-27. But with the Tea Party crowd Cain is getting 39% with Gingrich at 16%, Perry at 14%, and Romney in 4th place at 13%. Romney doesn’t need to win the Tea Partiers to be the Republican nominee. But he does need to finish better than 4th with them.

There are indications within the poll that Cain’s stay at the top could be short lived. Only 30% of his supporters are solidly committed to him with 70% saying they might still go on to support someone else. Those numbers aren’t much better for Romney, who only has 31% of his supporters solidly committed, or Gingrich, who only has 34% solidly committed. The strongest base of support among the Republican front runners- even if it’s shrinking- is Perry’s- 48% of his remaining backers say they’ll definitely vote for him. Overall 70% of Republicans are either undecided right now or open to voting for someone different than who they’re with now- that signals an extremely wide open race…

If the race came down to a two way match between Cain and Romney, Cain leads 48-36. Cain would pick up Bachmann, Gingrich, Perry, and Santorum’s supporters. Romney would get Huntsman and Paul’s. Cain would absolutely crush Perry in a head to head, 55-27.

Here's Herman Cain's secret: under that black skin, he's a redneck.

I wrote a song about rednecks of all colors over a year ago, before I had even heard of Herman Cain. If you don't mind me bragging a bit:

Rednecks Built America

Romney would get Huntsman and Paul’s.

I find it interesting that Paul's loonies would go to a big Gov't Progressive like Milt. It just shows what a bunch of closet leftists they all are.

'Romney would get Huntsman and Paul’s.'

Huh? I have my doubts. I would guess they wouldn't vote or support at all.

The most encouraging thing about this to me is that combined, the conservatives FAR out poll Romney. On the other side of the coin though, is the votes are split up.

IMO, in recent weeks, Perry and Bachmann have proven they aren’t ready for ‘prime time’ in national politics. Of those top 3, that leaves Cain, who has flourished in recent weeks. It’s time to line up behind someone, and send Mittens back to his liberal Massachusetts! The longer this thing drags on, the more difficult it’s going to be to defeat him!

Under that tax plan That he doubled as a JOBS plan, is a bamboozler.

It has no chance of ever seeing fruition.

I would bet that FreeRepublic is responsible for almost 1% of the Tea Party, anti-Romney swing.

HERMAN CAIN IS NOW THE FRONTRUNNER FOR THE NOMINATION FOR PRESIDENT BY THE REPUBLICAN PARTY IN 2012

Mr. Cain, with all due respect, needs 2 very critical things right now: increased "Boots on the Ground" in New Hampshire, Iowa, Nevada and South Carolina (an army of Cainanites for poll work, phones, rides to the caucuses, yard signs, door to door, leafleting cars, letters to editor, rallies). Particularly in the states where he is weak and has little ground game and must vanquish that RINO worm ROMNEY ASAP--the others will take care of themselves starting with the dropping out of Johnson, Huntsman, Santorum and so on; and b) he needs to pick up the phone NOW and call AMBASSADOR JOHN BOLTON [(202) 546-4400)] at the Heritage Foundation and say "John, I need your help. Now that I am the frontrunner, please come aboard and be my official Foreign Policy Advisor". Bolton is sitting this one out, but I am almost sure he would do it. And then Herman, God Bless Him, needs to devote even an hour a day in the bus or train going through foreign policy briefing books with Bolton as his coach. This "when I get in there I will give you my answer and I will hire the best minds possible on foreign affairs, right now I don't have the security access nor plugged in advisors to answer such and such (an international crisis)" BELIEVE ME will grow old very fast and Obama/Biden/Clinton/Panetta/Reid/Pelosi/US Lib MSM et. al. will seize on this foreign policy point and whip Herman mercilessly on it and erode his numbers creating doubt in the minds of the American People. These are my only two humble suggestions at this time, all things being equal, this man is a true phenomenon and comes along at a great time in our Republic--and everything else I would say he is doing just right. One for the history books indeed.

“Romney would get Huntsman and Paul’s.” If this doesn’t say it all, and tell you a lot about both Huntsman and Paul.

Romney would get Huntsman and Paul’s.

Huntsman's absolutely...but Rupaul's???

I would guess they would be most likely to go for Hussein.

Cain might not be able to get anything like this past Congress just because it would be such an upheaval of the established order and upset a lot of entrenched applecarts. But he would try. That’s all any president with a hopeful agenda can do. Even without getting 9-9-9 into the tax code, Cain would be beneficial in a lot of ways.
