To be fair, if you and I had to be up on stage with Charlie Rose and Karen Tumulty, wed be soporifically stupefied after a few minutes, too. But then again, were not running for the highest office in the land and raising millions of dollars from people across the country who are counting on a candidate with the guts, gall, and gumption to take on Barack Obama. By those basic measures of fitness for office, Rick Perry once again failed to deliver. He was languid. Passive. Half-hearted. Listless. Just like he was during the 9/23 debate.
Have a good Perry night!
White/rice comes to mind.
Oh, and welcome to Free Republic.

I think you are reading the post incorrectly. Perry inherited those advantages and therefore he can bragg Texas has better jobs numbers. But I still give him credit for not screwing up the advantage.
Hey we are all here in this together. I am going to explode some firecrackers when the major networks declare Barry has lost the election. And thanks.
Perry didn't inherit anything but his legacy. He's in the running for the longest serving governor of Texas, not that we give them much power down here.
And bragg is a federal fort. Brag is a verb.
Newbie punks are reaching.

No, we're not.
Yer on yer own...

Im really, really trying to be nice.
Looks like Team Perrys plan to have him sleep more isnt working.

Other reax:
Dana Loesch on Perrys botched Romney attack: Perry had a golden opportunity to put the screws to him and fumbled.
Philip Klein: Perry makes Pawlenty look like a world champion debater.
Chris Miller: I am a huge Perry fan. But he blew it on the chance to take Romney down with Healthcare question. Disappointed.
David Freddoso: Perry played it safe and lost.
John Hinderaker: Rick Perry, during the half of the debate that I saw, bordered on invisible. I dont know whether the pundits who say this was make or break for Perry are right, but it certainly was not a strong night for him. One thing that strikes me as odd is how little mileage Perry gets out of his job creation record in Texas. He mentioned it a time or two, but, as in prior debates, he didnt use it effectively as the foundation of his claim to be the strongest candidate.

Here comes the CYA:
After a two-hour debate on the economy, earnest GOP operatives headed straight to the spin room to tout the merits of their respective candidates.
As for Texas Gov. Rick Perry,he headed straight to the Beta Theta Pi fraternity house.
Debates are not my strong suit, Perry told about 100 fraternity brothers gathered to see him at the house, a few blocks from the debate site on the campus of Dartmouth College.
Swell. Just what Obama ordered
""
Following in Juan Nosedivethrowthelection McCain's footsteps.
In his governorship, silly.
“Yeehaw O’Bummer I can be a good ole fratboy too!”
Not that there’s anything wrong with visiting the old haunt, but did he have to do it while a million eyes were on him?
And Pa couldn't run again, so we elected the first female governor in the US? (And then followed her up with the nasty red-head about 100 years later?)
The same Ma Ferguson that was quoted as saying "If English was good enough for the Lord, it should be good enough for the chilren of Texas"?
You mean that governorship?
We keep them in Austin to keep track of them. Let 'em get loose and you get Huey Longs (so long as they last).
We're not French.

Sorry if I soft pedaled that.
Lucky they didn't hang him.

“Bush-43 performed good enough in both elections, to neutralize his opponents.”
More Americans voted for Gore than Bush 43 in 2000. Had Ralph Nader not been in the race in Florida, Gore would have won.
Now, do you see how that works? (Of course you don't)
“Nixon lost to Kennedy in 1960 mainly due to debate performance.”
The people listening to the ‘60 debate must’ve not had a huge problem with Nixon, since (IIRC) he did win the popular vote — just not the electoral. Typical corruption on the parts of the Kennedy Machine and democrats in general put Kennedy in office (as you said: Cook Co. stole it). It wasn’t the debate.
Perry’s a doofus. Every time I see/hear him, a picture of Bush pops into my head. Mitt is icky. (Did I hear correctly that he thought Obama’s bailout was a good thing?) Bachmann would be cruicified by the dems if she were our nominee; I’m sure the MSM has all the dirt at the ready. Newt is smart, but self absorbed and pompous, and his personal history sucks. Santorum seems to be OK. I like Cain — just about everything about him.
Yes, Texas benefits from the military and the support manufacturing. But on the other side of that, the nation benefits from Texas contribution to both. We produce lots of good soldiers and lots of fine weapons.
Its Beyond obvious this guy cant handle debates, doesnt mean he is not conservative or a Great Guy,but he wont cut it against the Marxist.
Bachman stole the show for me at the Beginning when for the first time in Years a Republican smacked a Liberal between the eyes on the Housing Crisis,The Community reinvestment act,and the Government lowering borrowing standards and Threatening Banks caused the Problem. I almost fell off the Couch when she blasted Tumulty with that and then Newt said Dodd and Frank Should be in Jail instead of people on Wall St.! Where the Hell has that been for the past 3 years?
"I'm in trouble. I just talked to the Jewish house and every one of my answers in the debate was wrong," Perry told about 100 fraternity brothers gathered to see him at the house, a few blocks from the debate site on the campus of Dartmouth College.
