On his radio program this afternoon, Rush Limbaugh said that Christie's endorsment of Romney is proof that the GOP establishment is "desperate" for Romney to be the Republican nominee.
"They're doing everything they can to make sure -- you know, Bachmann, Santorum, they're not in the top tier now, but they want to make sure they stay there." Limbaugh said, "Perry is the only genuine conservative threat to Romney, and this is an effort to take him out."
Limbaugh added that "the thinking" on Herman Cain is that he does not have enough organization or money to compete with Romney.
"They don't even want to go through the primary process. They want to force people out." Limbaugh concluded, "They want Bachmann to quit. They want Santorum to quit. They want Cain to get outta here. Well, he's not going to for a while. They want Perry to finally throw in the towel. They want everybody to realize they don't have a prayer. It's Romney."
“So Rush is blowing off Cain?”
Does not think he has the staying power. Not enough money or organization.
You’re nothing but a shill for Perry /s
Then El Rushbo has missed the revolution train. That way of thinking is a defunct mindset that got us into the condition we're in today.
This isn't sports. It's life and death. We either get someone into that office who is driven to rein our government back into its original constitutional constraints, or it'll be up to The People to do so.
And that is going to be a nasty experience for everyone - including Rush.
“Palin called Perry a conservative.
If she did, she was being very kind to him. Very kind.”
Compared to Kay Bailey Hutchison, he is.
And, yes, you’re right. she was.
Perry and Romney are not good. They are bound to tick off the tea party like Scott Brown did. The tea party should be mobilizing against Romney but they aren’t. Rick Perry has proven to not be much better. If Polls are to be believe Perry is sinking.
I think it was last week that Rush devoted almost an entire segment lauding Cain regarding his interview with that Cnn Mcdonnel lib. Prager did the same on the same day. I don’t think Rush has written him off. I think he’s just stating what the MSM is continuing to try and brainwash the masses with, Romney/Perry, mainly Romney. But Cain is gaining ground visibility wise. Wouldn’t write him off yet. Way too early.
LOVE the essay. It made me think of two specific FReepers in the wardheeler/cheerleader section. Agree on Romney - utterly unacceptable. Jury is out for me with regard to Perry. I see both the accomplishments and the red flags.
“...But Cain is gaining ground visibility wise. Wouldnt write him off yet. Way too early.”
Agreed, but his resources are slender. Doing a hell of a lot with them though. We shall see. He is one of my two favorites out of this lineup, Perry being the other.
Rick Perry is conservative. Sorry if that upsets you.
If he didnt know it before, the Tea Partier now knows that accepting short-term loss in exchange for long-term gain is the essence of compromise, the essence of politics.
Ironically, he can thank the Republican for impressing this so indelibly upon him.
Perfectly stated, and the very essence of the citizen rebellion now occurring in America.
I've personally come to a point where I'd almost prefer to let the whole thing fall to pieces now, and allow the necessary, but chaotic, catharsis begin - rather than compromise my principles yet again, so that another coward can tend the oval office for four years while the country slides even deeper into the muck.
This country is now so perilously close to losing its last tenuous grasp on its founding constructs, that if we choose to go the safe route, and elect another establishment Republican as president, we may finally lose the last vestiges of freedom on their watch.
Much better to stop the music now, and interrupt the dance, so that we can directly deal with the hoodlums and criminals who are busy ripping the foundations from under us.
Rush will not support a Loser.
No he's not. I've done my due diligence, and the man comes up short. By a long shot.
Sell your propaganda elsewhere.
Rush is Right.
I almost said that earlier. In fact, I voted my principles in that gubernatorial primary, and gave my vote to Rick, for that very reason.
Take your own advice.
Perry is not just any conservative. Perry is an authentic Reagan conservative, skippy.

I understand. A couple of years ago I was very sanguine about this very model - let it collapse and then rebuild. Increasingly though I picture dissolution at best, and real risk of balkanized civil warS, an outside chance of a kind of dark age, or more likely a dictatorship like Franco’s or Lenin’s. Different regions could have either. Still . . . Sometimes the long shot is the only one you have. What the Washington hacks are doing is certain to fail. It already has.
I see the United States entering the same tunnel as the Soviet Union did in 1991. I hope we do as well coming out the other end as they did.
Gawd, help me. You defile the name of Reagan.
I'd rate Perry as "better" as Romney, but it's by inches, a short walk, a brief step past... rather than "miles. leagues. fathoms".
Pretty much I get the sense that the only reason Perry sounds so much more conservative than Romney is because that's the political climate in Texas and that's what he needs to say in order to win down there. Had he been running in Massachusetts, I don't think his agenda would have been much different than Romney's. Both are professional politicians who maintained the status quo in their respective state and opposed Reaganism when it was politically convenient at the time.
Unless we citizens get our heads on straight and push back hard against the corrupt and degraded bastards in the political establishment, we're going to lose our last best chance to turn this country around in the next election.
We simply cannot allow that to happen. As you say, there are no guarantees that we'll emerge from the "tunnel" in better shape than when we went in. God help us.
You're not of much importance - hence I'm not trying to sell you anything.
Just countering some of the stupidity.
