On his radio program this afternoon, Rush Limbaugh said that Christie's endorsment of Romney is proof that the GOP establishment is "desperate" for Romney to be the Republican nominee.
"They're doing everything they can to make sure -- you know, Bachmann, Santorum, they're not in the top tier now, but they want to make sure they stay there." Limbaugh said, "Perry is the only genuine conservative threat to Romney, and this is an effort to take him out."
Limbaugh added that "the thinking" on Herman Cain is that he does not have enough organization or money to compete with Romney.
"They don't even want to go through the primary process. They want to force people out." Limbaugh concluded, "They want Bachmann to quit. They want Santorum to quit. They want Cain to get outta here. Well, he's not going to for a while. They want Perry to finally throw in the towel. They want everybody to realize they don't have a prayer. It's Romney."
I am not as naive as that. It's helpful you raised the question.
Daddy Bush made that tax promise because it came with no political risk to him relative to his 1988 election against the Democrat and he was not thinking any further than that.
But a very clear ‘read my lips’ on legalization now by Perry or the others would come at a real political risk next year if running against Obama. And he would not be able to flip on it then to undo the damage without looking like a complete phony. The truth is that Presidential candidates are terrified of Hispanic voters. They can have a big effect on a election if motivated. So it would have more credibility with me.
Notice you dont see him doing anything like that.
Someone FRmailed me and suggested that Cain should do a read my lips promise on TARP type bailouts. Not a bad idea.
As far as Romney goes, he need not bother.

GREAT POST!!!
We get it. You don’t like him. Get over yourself
Thank you for your awesome compilation of facts about Gov. Perry. I’m bookmarking to use this in the future. Anyone that looks at this and refuses to see a conservative politician is being willfully ignorant of the facts.
“There are none so blind as those who will not see.”
Actually on second thought I am a little surprised Myth didn’t just lie and swear on Reagan’s grave he’d never support another bailout.
Absolutely
Awful early for Rush to be humping a favorite candidate. May come around to bite him in the ....
The RINO supporters he is courting still think Bush/Paulson/TARP was a great idea.
Then why do you keep hanging out on Perry threads?
Thank You for that! I, for one, appreciate you.
The things that Perry has flipped on are Trans Texas Corridor and an Executive Order on Gardasil.
Right, but he changed his position because that is what TEXANS wanted. Is that not what you want your government representative to do? Listen and drop that issue?
That is what I want my Government Representative to do.
Listen to the People and do what THEY want not what HE wants. Perry listened. Perry acted. Perry even said he was wrong. That is not a flip-flop - that is representing the people who elected you and are paying the taxes.

Romney was pro-choice then pro-life (this is not something you change on)
Perry has always been pro-life.
Perry made a mistake by issuing an executive order regarding a vaccine that could save lives (and there was an easy opt-out) YET Romney MANDATED his healthcare plan in his state. He has never apologized for it. In fact, that is the model Obama used for Obamacare.
Romney is a snake in the grass and will tell anything he thinks you want to hear.
Perry tells the truth - even if it hurts him politically.
Perry is capable of saying he was wrong.
Perry did average. There was absolutely nothing exciting that came out of his mouth.
Nor did he make mistakes.
One can only hope he’s playing some grand strategy at which we all will some day be amazed.
Short of that: it was an average Perry evening.

State of the Race: Establishment and the Regime Rally Around Mitt Romney
“Romney, for his part, is now pushing Herman Cain. “If you can’t vote for me, vote for Herman Cain. I like Herman Cain,” and the reason he’s doing this is to get rid of Perry. “
Gee, Rush Limbaugh must have turned from a staunch conservative into a RINO — some us have been saying this all along and are being labeled “RINOs” for seeing the obvious.
A lot of people on here are acting in ways they never did before.
I've found the best approach is to avoid or ignore acolytes or hyena-packs.
It will not stop me from posting as I please, though. If the congregation members don't like it, they can pound sand.
Exactly right, as always.
Don’t think throwing in the towel is Perry’s style.
Thanks, that’s a useful list and I’ll definitely use it.
Not saying Cain WILL be able to overtake Romney, but right now Cain is in the mix and it's not accurate to say Perry is the only one that can take out Romney.
This is particularly so when the reasoning for that conclusion is this:
Limbaugh added that "the thinking" on Herman Cain is that he does not have enough organization or money to compete with Romney.
That assumes that nothing has changed from previous elections, that the electorate plates have not shifted at all, that it still takes people knocking on doors handed out printed literature and asking people to vote for a candidate, and it still takes a candidate going to local diners to get known, liked, supported and elected.
I don't see how it's possible that the old way of doing things is going to be THE determinant in this election.
As I've said previously, it's like people saying Romney or Perry will win because they've lined up the best Pony Express routes and Cain hasn't even rented his ponies yet. Without understanding that in the meantime the telegraph was invented and the Pony Express is suddenly an historical anachronism.
I have a link I want to post here as well, but will have to do it later.
