Where child sacrifice is a business

The villages and farming communities that surround Uganda's capital, Kampala, are gripped by fear.

School children are closely watched by teachers and parents as they make their way home from school. In playgrounds and on the roadside are posters warning of the danger of abduction by witch doctors for the purpose of child sacrifice.

The ritual, which some believe brings wealth and good health, was almost unheard of in the country until around three years ago, but it has re-emerged, seemingly alongside a boom in the country's economy.

... Many believe that members of the country's new elite are paying witch doctors vast sums of money for the sacrifices in a bid to increase their wealth.

At the Kyampisi Childcare Ministries church, Pastor Peter Sewakiryanga is teaching local children a song called Heal Our Land, End Child Sacrifice. ... "Child sacrifice has risen because people have become lovers of money. They want to get richer," the pastor says.

"They have a belief that when you sacrifice a child you get wealth..."...

For our own inquiries, we posed as local businessmen and asked around for a witch doctor that could bring prosperity to our local construction company. ... At our next meeting, Awali invited us into his shrine which is traditionally built from mud bricks with a straw roof. Inside, the floor is littered with herbs, face masks, rattles and a machete.

The witch doctor explained that this meeting was to discuss the most powerful spell - the sacrifice of a child.

"There are two ways of doing this," he said. "We can bury the child alive on your construction site, or we cut them in different places and put their blood in a bottle of spiritual medicine." ...

Sure ain’t a new idea, though. A society which does this is on the verge of collapse.

Talk to the abortion in this country and around the world. Selling aborted baby parts is big business!

You make a good point. Journalists often don’t write clearly - I think he means it was unknown in that generation, having been abandoned, but now has made a return. Their ancestors practiced this.

There is only one way to stop this kind of horror.

You simply have to communicate in the correct language.

Sure. And in our country we sacrifice (abort) one million babies a year at the altar of ‘free sex’ and not wanting to be ‘burdened’. I’m not really if their witch doctors are more savage than ours.

This isn’t only in Uganda...I first ran across it in Liberia. But in countries with good governments, it is prosecuted. Uganda is getting out of a lot of chaos and civil wars (remember Idi Amin? the “lord’s liberation army”? to name just two).

My missionary friends say that since HIV hit, a lot of nominal “Christians” are going to witch doctors for cures which involve witchcraft...

But before you point fingers, remember that good Africans are aghast that the US allows the abortion of a child for convenience. They consider abortion as a form of witchcraft too...and not only is it legal in the US, the US taxpayers are pushing abortion and “sex education” on Africa (and here in the Philippines for that matter).

So killing a kid and putting his/her genitals under your store so you can be successful is terrible, but so is pressuring your daughter or girlfriend to abort her unborn child so you aren’t stuck with the bill supporting it.

Um, yes...their witch doctor’s are more savage than ours. I’m against abortion but come on, kidnapping and burying a child alive, or cutting him with a machete is indeed a bit more savage no?

Anyways, I wish Jesus would just come and get us already:(

... wondering why this has evolved into a thread against abortion. People are snatching and killing born children, viable, fully feeling and thinking children. For money. My prayers are with their families. I HATE the evil that this world is.

Have you seen the pictures, or descriptions of a partial-birth abortion?

By pulling on the baby's legs with forceps, the legs arc delivered, followed by the torso, arms and shoulders. The baby's head 'usually' remains inside the uterus. Using blunt-tipped surgical scissors, the baby's skull is pierced where a suction catheter is inserted to extract the 'skull contents.' Fetal brains and organs are used for fetal 'tissue' experimentation.

Or the ultra-sound images of the babies that are 'chopped' up?

The abortionist inserts a curette, a loop-shaped steel knife, up into the uterus. With this, he cuts the placenta and baby into pieces and scrapes them out into a basin. Bleeding is usually profuse.

Pretty grisly, no?
I know you are distinguishing between a baby/infant/child that is farther along the growth and development path than a baby within a womb -- but they are all human beings - and gifts from God.
We tell ourselves that these babies in the womb don't feel any pain - and they are basically inanimate lumps of tissue ... until they magically pop out of the womb and become people.

Yes, what these witch-doctors are doing is horrific ... But the practices in our Country to which we have become numb, and declare to be 'rights', are also heinous.

“They have a belief that when you sacrifice a child you get wealth...”...

Now where have I heard that before? Oh wait planned parenthood! Yea that is the ticket! If I abort my unborn baby and I am poor I will have more money in the long run to buy stuff!!
