In a radio interview just now, Herman Cain previewed his Tuesday night debate plan: “I’m going after Romney.”

"I’m not going after Perry. I don’t need to go after Perry," Cain said, per POLITICO's Juana Summers.

I am concerned about this. One of Cain’s strongest suits, imo, is his positivity. He needs to tread a very fine line in going after Romney. He’ll need to do it in such a way that shows Romney to be the RINO he is while espousing his positivty borne of conservative, solution oriented plans.

He’ll run into trouble if he becomes a vicious attack dog without a positive message. He needs to be himself. Take Romney out to the woodshed and help Romney understand why his RINO’ism is wrong.

Positivity - it’s a major factor in what sets Cain apart from everyone else.

Perry is only in this to split the social conservatives away from the Tea Party and hand the nomination to Romney.

That is ridiculous. Perry entered the race contrary to his long-held intention to stay out of it because people like Rush encouraged him to run.

Fox News’ Greta Van Susteren asked Rush Limbaugh during their interview last night who his dream candidate for the 2012 presidential elections would be.

The titan of talk radio responded, ”I would like for Rick Perry to get in to it. Or anybody like him that would fire it up. The more conservatives in this race, the more full-throated, unapologetic, peddle-to-the-medal conservatives in this race, the greater the opportunity one of them is going to be elected in.”

StoryBalloon.org

Wednesday, the rumors hit fever pitch when conservative radio host Rush Limbaugh delivered a 20-minute monologue extolling the Texas governor as the kind of anti-Washington conservative who could drive Democrats “nuts” and pierce President Barack Obama’s aura of re-election invincibility.

It is a tough spot for Perry. He can't regain his footing by being a spectator, as you note. But every time he opens his mouth, he shoots himself in the foot.

Personally, I would prefer him out of the race because he will siphon conservative votes. If it comes down to Romney vs. Cain, I think Cain wins.

The whole idea of a primary is to win the nomination. You can only do that but pointing out how unsuitable your opponents are. He isn’t running against Bozo in the primary, he is running, basically, against Perry and the Mitten.

I think it’d be a good strategy to tie Romney’s approach to Obama’s. Play on the recent news that Romneycare was the blueprint for Obamacare, for example. Then he can contrast those approaches with his own conservative approach which is demonstrably different than those two liberals.

Well, the debate is set up where candidates have to ask one question of other candidates.

I sense Cain will maintain his sense of humor and tact while asking his question :-)

"Cain WAS running for a Romney veep spot, I’m sure of it."

How in the world did this false rummer get started here?

Was is because that one reporter asked Mr. Cain if he would consider being VP for romney? And then Mr. Cain said something like, only if romney had changed his views from what they used to be.. but that he wasn’t looking to be anybody’s VP, because he’s planning to be President? Is that where the mix up came from?

I guess I did. I did hear him say people should vote for either himself or Herman Cain.

Yes and hopefully people do this by who articulates the best solutions for the problems we face, not who is the nastiest or the cleverest name caller.

Got a quote? Because what I heard him say was he would be anybody's VP but Perry. I never heard him say anything about Rommey changing his positions.

If tha's true, they should have all declined to attend such a silly liberal set up.

Poor Mitt. He had ten more hours of rehearsals today as a result of Cain’s threat.

This is going nowhere. Frankly, some of you Cain supporters have Cain fever, Quite a few have turned into Cain cultists! The gratuitous attacks on Perry from you guys will sadly continue unabated.

That's funny, I was thinking the exact same thing about the Perry Supporters.

Rush said Romney wanted Cain over Perry. Cain has NO money or organization....so Cain is an easy target. Whereas, Romney knows he can’t beat Perry because of his money and organization.
