In a radio interview just now, Herman Cain previewed his Tuesday night debate plan: “I’m going after Romney.”

"I’m not going after Perry. I don’t need to go after Perry," Cain said, per POLITICO's Juana Summers.

Is that supposed to be funny? Cain is the antithesis of a career politician. Your man Perry has never had much of a career outside of politics. He got bored riding a tractor, and decided to use his sociopathic charm where it works best: in politics.

Some of us are bleeping fed up with the money men, "movers and shakers," crony capitalists, etc. running our country into the ground...OK? We do not want, and will not accept, another hack career politician who rants "conservative" rhetoric to get the nomination, then climbs in bed with the enemy once he is in office. That's how we got Bush I & II, Ford, Dole, & McCain.

Agree 100%. Since 1988, the Republican Party has been saddled with an inferior nominee who was either not elected, or if elected, did nothing to advance conservatism. In each case, the nominee was the "choice" of the money men and the "movers and shakers" of the establishment.

We haven't had a true "president of the people" since Ronald Reagan and that was the last president I remember that the rank and file was actually excited about.

I had my hopes set on Sarah Palin this go-around but after taking a good look at Herman Cain and all that he has achieved (and overcome) in his life, I am more than satisfied with Cain as a Palin alternative. Screw the money men, if Cain can retain the conservative base and win some of the early primaries, he's got an excellent chance for the nomination. And while campaign money might be tight in the early going, he's grabbing the headlines and the media attention. People will soon be tripping over themselves to donate to his campaign as they get to know him better.

I'm disgusted by the demonrats and slightly less so by the Rinorats.

If there was a strong 3rd party challenger, I'd vote for him or her.

However, Herman Cain might just be the person who can help me feel good about voting for the Republican candidate this time.

I'll bet that there are lots of registered voters who feel the same way.

Do you and your other Perry supporters have any clue how remarks like that turn people off; not only to you but to the person you support? This IS FreeRepublic; NOT DU, NOT KOS, NOT HP. Yet just because we don't see eye-to-eye on a candidate you choose to defame us. We're not the bad a$$es here, YOU ARE. It's this kind of stuff that has earned you the defamation you so well deserve.

I will never support your candidate. If it comes to having to vote form him in the general in order to dethrone Obama I will, but I will be holding my nose just as I did with McCain back in '08. He is anathema to me. And so are you. You should be ashamed of your collective selves for making those types of comments about your fellow FReepers. Not necessarily. He has an image now. He's made an unseemly remark about those of us who disagree with his in-state tuition stance. It will take more than attacking Obama to overcome that. look at the polls. 63% disagree with in-state tuition illegals. 53% of Hispanics. No, his problem goes beyond simply an change of tactics or a smoother delivery. The polls show his problems run deep.

The way I heard it was that Cain was asked if he would consider a veep spot and he said he would for anyone but Perry.

Most people felt that kinda meant Romney as the others are way back in the pack.

Either way it was a gratuitious insult to Perry and one of the two big issues I have with Cain, the other being that he took the WaPo’s rock story seriously and blamed Perry .
