Having watched this clip all the way through several times, I still can't stop chuckling. Here's a quick primer to prepare you for what you're about to see:
The video begins as civil rights pioneer Rep. John Lewis rrives at #OccupyAtlanta, hoping to express solidarity and articulate support with some brief remarks.
Unfortunately for him, the Congressman is totally unacquainted with the gathering's "rules," which make the US Senate look like a model of efficiency.
The group's "leader" (the hippie with the bullhorn) speaks in three-second intervals so the rest of the assembled group can chant his partial sentences back at him. They're speaking with "one voice," you see. In order to build a consensus, they "debate" whether Lewis should be permitted to speak, or if the program should continue as planned.
This quasi-vote is taken through a juvenile system of silent finger-wiggling (yes, really). The consensus shifts several times before the group settles on a conclusion: Lewis is not any more valuable than any other human being, his request to speak is therefore denied. This decision prompts an angry outburst from Lewis supporters, who immediately earn angry jazz hands of scorn for chanting out of turn.
The look on Lewis' face throughout these, um, "deliberations" is absolutely priceless. When his speaking opportunity is ultimately nixed, he just wanders off in a confused daze. Isn't the Left awesome, Congressman? The cringe-worthy preciousness and feel-goodery of the entire episode evokes a dystopic kindergarten setting, in which every child and teacher has equal say in everything. If it weren't so laugh-out-loud pathetic, I think this video represents a snapshot of my own personal hell.
UPDATE: The Washington Times' Kerry Picket emails to inform me that "Jazz Hands democracy" was also on display in New York this weekend.

Mrs BN was a teacher of 4 & 5 year old kids. As such, I often visited her classes. Those kids were WAY ahead of this crowd!
I did not have the patience to finish watching the video.
ALTHOUGH, if Congress deliberated at this speed, they would NEVER be able to get any legislation passed, therefore nothing NEW to gum up works of progress.
If we could only get rid of all the other junk they have passed in the last 50 years!
So...Libertarians are rabble rousers?
(sorry, just couldn’t resist!)
These people can vote. Scares the hell out of me.
Actually I’m more of a rabble rouser now that I’m a conservative than I was when I considered myself libertarian.
Mentally ill. Certifiable. Societal misfits. Everyone society has ‘em.
The scariest part is that there are really people out there that would participate in this crap. I mean, some of them actually look kind of normal, yet they’re buying into this nonsense.
Yet you’ve got people on the left lauding these protests and the participants. If Tea Party gatherings were anywhere as nutty as this, the clips would be on TV 24/7 - accompanied by howls of laughter and words of derision.
There will be GREAT conservative parodies on YouTube of this “Echo Speak” in a few days, mark my words. It would also be funny on SNL, but I doubt they have the courage.
Read Ann Coulter’s Book “Demonic”
it describes exactly what these “Occupy” Zombies are.
A MOB.
Conservatives are certainly being portrayed that way, at least the Tea Party is.
As long as they don’t compare me to those brainless scumbags in New York, I can live with it...
You hit on the core of the rotted apple: We can undo what Obama and his ilk have done, but the fact that there are a sizable number of people like this who could get someone like Obama elected, and willingly do it again...THAT’S problematic.
Thanks for the explanation although the behavior is still creepy.
By order of Diana Moon Glampers.
Thats exactly what I’ve been thinking.
We’re laughing at these people now, but if they get their way we won’t be laughing. And if they don’t get their way, we won’t be laughing.
These people are capable of anything.
So? Where are Lewis’ ridiculous fabrications about racist epithets from the gathered crowd?
Thanks drewh.
I noticed the “academics” that most of these liberal arts majors aspire to is the highest paid profession:
Technical/Research/Academic $36,000
And “other public sector” is automatically 1K higher than “other private sector”.
Its like a real time ‘Lord of the Flies’ where the children have become adults!
Please note that the leader has a functioning bullhorn, can be heard quite well and the crowd isn’t that spread out. One of the crowd actually had a functioning mic, as well.
This childish stuff is about short-circuiting thought processes and forcing the crowd to internalize whatever is said to them via repetition. This is the sort of Neuro Linguistic Programming that is being used in the schools to produce these mindless twits in the first place.
For _this_ their parents and grandparents have paid through the nose since pre-school so the darlings could have an acceptable education aimed at keeping them in the upper middle class. As the parent of a 40-something who has been totally subsumed by this *culture* of nihilism, I can only imagine the gut-punched feeling many of them must be experiencing.
OK... I finally watched the whole clip. I hadn’t been able to before... Its just too dang creepy. But damn... I keep thinking that they’ll start handing out the cups of kool-aid any time...
Rush is going to have a field day with this.
