A leading Southern Baptist theologian spoke out Monday
-SNIP-
........In a posting today on his influential blog, the theologian, R. Albert Mohler, president of the Southern Baptist Theological Seminary in Louisville, Ky., spelled out why traditional Christians do not consider the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints to be simply a different denomination of Christianity.
Mormonism rejects the Bible as the sole and sufficient authority for the faith, and insists that The Book of Mormon and other authoritative Latter-Day Saints writings constitute Gods final revelation, he wrote. By its very nature, Mormonism borrows Christian themes, personalities, and narratives. Nevertheless, it rejects what orthodox Christianity affirms and it affirms what orthodox Christianity rejects.
Dr. Mohler conspicuously did not use the term cult and he said: It is neither slander nor condescension to state clearly that Mormonism is not Christianity.

Competence for public office is also an important Christian concern, as is made clear in Romans 13, he wrote, even citing a legendary statement, attributed to Martin Luther, that he would rather be ruled by a competent Turk (Muslim) than an incompetent Christian.

no pope, from Peter through the present pope has ever changed even one teaching of the church.....language, yes, ceremonies, yes, teachings, no....the church was promised infallibility by Christ and she has held to that promise faithfully.....unlike some we know.
as far as we're concerned, the Orthodox are still within the true church of Christ. They have a problem with the Pope as head of mthe true church, but agree with Catholics on virtually all pertinant teachings. They were a schism, not a revolution as were the protestants.....we accept them, they accept us, and very soon we will again be united
Well!
Ain't that something!
I have read MANY inane statements on the internet....but yours is among the most unbelieveable. A minimal difference between zero and Romney...you must have started drinking real early today.....when you state that you would never vote for Romney, you are showing your prejudice and are attempting to assure the village idiot another 4 years of destroying this country.....thanks (really hate Mormons don't you???
But as for the rest of us lowly protestants...
BTW, those folks you are reuniting with, the Orthodox, they took this lowly Methodist’s Baptism when joining the GOA.
My want to let the Pope know he is signing on with some folks who may not be up to your standards...
Negative, I never said thyat protestants were "lowly" (you did) I maintain that they are accurate to a point, but incomplete. You can't, after 1,500 years of Christianity, decide to change the rules, beliefs, and still call your perverted "new" religion Christianity. Why do protestants decide that Lutherans, Methodists, church of Christ, Nazoreans, Presbeterians, church of what's happening lately, equate themselves with the church that Jesus Christ personally founded.......amazing
yes it is, Catholicism is exactly tyoday what is was during Christ's lifetime.....Jesus said it, established it, organized it, blessed it, promised it and guaranteed it....one church only can claim that....I'll stick with those facts.
We aren't lowly, our Chruches are just not Christian...
Well you better hurry and get that message to the Pope, cause you certainly don't want to merge with a faith that takes an unchristian Church’s Baptism at face value...
Oh and I will just mention this in passing, there have been several Converts I know to the Catholic Church whose unchristian Baptism was accepted as well...
Just FYI The mainline protestants do have issues with any “Christian Church” that does not follow the core beliefs that we, the Orthodox and the Catholic Church share and recognize as bonding us in Christian brotherhood, beleifs we often share together in different ecumenical settings with the belssings of the Authorities of all involved, including the Catholic Church.
may want to tell the Pope that too when writing...

As I said earlier..."you can not cite is a verse that tells Christians what constitutes Scripture, let alone one that makes Scripture the final authority of faith and practice."
You didn’t answer the Q. Where do you get the authority to say what you’re saying? Where does it come from?
not non-christian, just incomplete....the Catholic church honors almost all other "christian" baptisms. I did not say that other denominations were not christian....I said that they are incomlete and in error as far as christian teaching is concerned. You mentioned non christian baptism....the Catholic church would not recognize a Morman baptism, probably not a Jehovahs witness baptism, who knows what else. I don't think that individual protestants will necessarily be held accountable for their beliefs....but I feel that the "reformers" will have some answering to do....why did you attempt to improve a religion that My Son founded??????? I don't want to answer Him on that!!!
let's see now, the Catholic Church compiled, edited, preserved, handed down, interpreted, salvaged, protected, whatever else, the bible and you say that she is not biblical.....Without the Catholic church, there would be no bible. Santa Claus did not compile the new testament, the Catholic church did and she remains the ONLY Christian church to be FULLY biblical.....if you feel that this is not the case, please point out where she is in error or non-biblical

* "Christ is the head of the church, his body, of which he is the Savior." (Ephesians 5:23)
* "And he is the head of the body, the church;" (Colossians 1:18)
* "...in Christ you have been brought to fullness. He is the head over every power and authority." (Col. 2:10)
Apparently so does the apostle Paul.
Oh?
In what way??
Jesus answered, The work of God is this: to believe in the one he has sent.
Oh?
How about individual Catholics??
Good example of circular logic:
