Eric Holder, Obama’s albatross

President Obama says that he has “complete confidence” in Attorney General Eric Holder. That’s good news for Republicans. Pick almost any unnecessary, losing battle in Obama’s first term, and his hapless attorney general is at the center of it.

If not for the fact that so many of Holder’s decisions harm national security, he would be a political dream come true for the GOP – delivering up reliably disastrous controversies for the president every few months.

Many of these debacles stem from Holder’s failure to do due diligence: He failed to consult the intelligence community before giving the Christmas bomber a Miranda warning; he failed to read the memos in which career prosecutors explained why CIA prosecutions were a legal dead end; he failed to consult New York officials about trying Mohammed in their city; he failed to conduct even a cursory review before pushing Obama to announce the closure of Guantanamo; he failed to read the Arizona immigration law before publicly opposing it. One such failure is a mistake; this many is a pattern of gross incompetence.

Given his record of stumbling into one foreseeable and avoidable controversy after another, it is amazing Holder is still at his post. Come January 2013, it is unlikely he will remain there — regardless of who wins the election.

Holder has a long history of being a political "black bag man," someone with no conscience, incapable of shame, able to look you right in the eye and continue to lie to your face, even when you know he's lying, and he knows you know. But also knows that he's got protection from on-high, so he doesn't care.

Given the people Obama's surrounded himself with, Holder is quite an asset, not an albatross.

By psychiatric standards, he might be considered a sociopath. But also knows that he's got protection from on-high, so he doesn't care.

Twice. I personally know 3 alumni donors who have cut them out of their estate planning for that very reason.

They are going to need more than Holder lying about when he found out about the program for him to be gone.

Just IMO. Obama’s inner circle won’t be disbanded unless they find Holder’s name on the documents authorizing the sale of the specific weapon used to kill the border patrol agent.

That won’t happen. These guys are too smart/shifty for that to occur.

Unfortunately I also think Issa has already given Holder too much time to get his ducks in a row as far as a defense. There’s some serious smoke here but they won’t get anywhere - or at least put me in the category of believing something will happen only when I see it and not before.
