Protesters marched along Route 66 for the second weekend in a row, but the Occupy New Mexico protest left the streets and entered Albuquerque banks and business on Saturday.
"People decided to go in and let folks know that we're here, that we're not gonna be silent any more, and that we're gonna speak up," said marcher Tomas Garduno.
The Albuquerque Police Department said protesters did more than that.
"We had a small group, part of the protest, they went into some businesses, started spitting on people," said APD spokesman Patrick Ficke. "Some of the people were scared. They were videotaping them to give to us for evidence, and (protesters) were knocking those phones out of people's hands. People trying to call 9-1-1, they were knocking those phones away."
After the protest, police arrested Hani Barghout, 23, from Socorro.
It's unclear if he spit on anyone.
Barghout is charged with battery, disorderly conduct and criminal trespassing.
Protesters admit they went inside, but they deny the assault claims.
"If somebody did that, then yeah - they should be held responsible for that," said protester Joel Gallegos. "But nobody should make judgments about that until the facts are set straight."

It’s a mistake to say all the idiot protestors are young people. Not saying that you are saying that necessarily, but the protest groups are an amalgamation of young and old malcontents.

Most of this stupidity is centered around UNM, and the vast majority I’ve seen (I work not too far away) are college pukes. Of course, UNM students usually take 7 years to graduate, so they’re borderline “kids”.
Demonstrators marched down Central Avenue near the University making their way through a Wells Fargo Bank, a Bank of America, which had already closed, a Bank of the West and finally a Wal-Mart.
The group joins the nationwide movement, Occupy Wall Street, protesting a collage of issues which all boil down to the wide scale corporate greed believed to be operating this country.
Unfortunately their message was interrupted Saturday after one protester was arrested after police say cell phone video caught Hani Barghout spitting on people inside a bank and the Wal-Mart.

This is exactly what they are trying to do is create an escalation of violence so that they can play the victim card and turn this is into a major confrontation.
This is all about changing the subject from a piss poor administration to some sort of civil rights issue to energize the left wingers to come out strong for Obama.
