Issa to Holder: You OWN Fast and Furious
By Michelle Malkin October 10, 2011 12:19 PM Eric Holder is on the hot seat, and GOP Rep. Darrell Issas cranking up the temperature.
Sent this morning:
WASHINGTON, D.C. House Oversight and Government Reform Committee Chairman Darrell Issa today sent a letter to U.S. Attorney General Eric Holder responding to his letter of October 7. The text of Chairman Issas letter to Attorney General Holder is below:
Dear Attorney General Holder:
From the beginning of the congressional investigation into Operation Fast and Furious, the Department of Justice has offered a roving set of ever-changing explanations to justify its involvement in this reckless and deadly program. These defenses have been aimed at undermining the investigation. From the start, the Department insisted that no wrongdoing had occurred and asked Senator Grassley and me to defer our oversight responsibilities over its concerns about our purported interference with its ongoing criminal investigations. Additionally, the Department steadfastly insisted that gunwalking did not occur.
~ ~ ~ ~ ~
Operation Fast and Furious was the Departments most significant gun trafficking case. It related to two of your major initiatives destroying the Mexican cartels and reducing gun violence on both sides of the border. On your watch, it went spectacularly wrong. Whether you realize yet or not, you own Fast and Furious. It is your responsibility.
Sincerely,
Darrell Issa
Chairman
House Committee on Oversight and Government Reform

Yes. Did you bother to read the second sentence of my post?
Yeah, read the whole thing, which is why I asked if you bothered to read the letter. Issa backhanded Holder several times with words that are rarely used in the DC cesspool which, it would seem to appear, that you may have missed.
Instead of being a screaming idiot and throwing all of his cards on the table as some around FR would rather he do, Rep Issa has been slowly and steadily turning up the heat on this gaggle of maggots. In addition, he has acknowledged to new media bloggers in a conference call that the apparent motive of this "operation" was to subvert the Second Amendment rights of the citizens of this country.
Did you know that?

Wait and see. The only times the TRUE purpose of F&F is mentioned is as an off hand pejorative against the Tea Party (whatever THAT is) and/or the "fringe" right. I have no faith at all in ANY politician getting to the root of this mess. I'm old and TIRED of waiting!

THIS is a criminal FELONY - Murder of American and Mexican Police, Government Officials, and Citizens. If these facts bear out, HOLDER [my edit]
deserves a prime seat in Leavenworth, on death row! You are quite correct. Add to that the crime of violating the public's trust. HE certainly should be impeached and convicted in disgrace.

Why is the House of Representatives not impeaching Holder NOW?
To: SeaHawkFan
I believe Issa’s strategy is to inflict the “death of 1,000 cuts” on Holder and the rest of the F&F maggots. The more he bleeds their political blood, the more face time this gets. The brain dead in the media are already sniffing political blood in the cesspool of DC. The media are sharks and political blood will cause a feeding frenzy -- that's what media sharks do to enhance resumes.
More testimony under oath, More media coverage. More subpoenas. More media coverage. Keep up jacking the pressure upwards. The more pressure, the more likely someone who knows incriminating things will roll over to cut a deal. When that happens, the stampede to cut deals will begin.

I agree. I read the whole thing. It is great. While I am anxious to see Holder go down, I think the longer it drags out and remains messy for him, the closer we get to elections and the closer it will be in memory as (yet another) failure by 0bama and his corrupt and inept administration.

Incredibly, in your letter from Friday you now claim that you were unaware of Fast and Furious because your staff failed to inform you of information contained in memos that were specifically addressed to you. At best, this indicates negligence and incompetence in your duties as Attorney General. At worst, it places your credibility into serious doubt.Criminal negligence at best, accessory to murder at worst.

Link is the lead article to this thread.
GOP, lead by Rep. Issa, has built a fence around Holder using his own words, a rigorous setup to not just impeaching Holder but pointing him toward a very long time in prison (and if he’s lucky, it won’t be a Mexican one).
Upshot is: the link you couldn’t miss and didn’t read details the GOP doing what you say they would never do.

Nope. The strategy is called “feed ‘em enough rope...”. It’s Holder’s own words which will convict him.

Any American citizens that have bought drugs that came from these Mexican criminals, also have that same blood on their hands. The so called “non violent pothead” that bought dope that came from these cartels is just as guilty of these murders. If that is too strong, well it is what it is. Families and children killed and decapitated so some American pothead can get a buzz on...it’s disgusting!

Issa also agreed with one of the questioners that Fast and Furious made no sense as a law enforcement operation. However, he's hesitant to say that there were other motives behind the operation.
"The conspiracy floated out there constantly is that this was a back door way to get an assault weapons ban back in place. Here's what seems to be easy to understand," Issa explained.
"That administration wanted to show that guns in Mexico predominantly came from the U.S. My problem is that whether under the conspiracy or simply wanting to show that they couldn't get the same information by simply cooperating with the Mexican government," Issa added.

Not theater, Rep Issa knows something and is waiting to drop the hammer. Holder will be one piece of a much bigger puzzle and Rep Issa is playing this very tight and very smart.

I believe that Issa has set his sites much higher. All these agencies could not have been engaged without higher authority. 0bama made a HUGE mistake trying to personally destroy Issa.
To: ctdonath2
That's also part of the strategy. Holder has perjured himself and he knows he's toast. Putting more of the briefers and e-mailers and memo writers under oath increases the chance someone will decide to cut a deal. The question is not of “if” someone will roll, but “when” someone will roll. Think John Dean in Watergate.

I think Holder has so much on so many people that zero can’t throw him under the bus. Holder can take down a LOT of people with what he knows.
This is fascinating. Clancy couldn’t have written a better novel story. The Klintoon gang also has to protect Holder, he has a lot on them too. What a bind they are all in!
To: MasterGunner01
Exactly right! Let them bleed for a long time, up to the elections. Bleed them out slowly. I am in no hurry for “justice” here. Make some political hay out of this, get the Senate and WH back. THEN appoint an Attorney General to prosecute zero and folder as civilians.
My dream outcome for this? That State Department, FBI, ATF, and all other dirty individuals and agencies involved in this get exposed to the light of day.

Just as long as Holder doesn’t suddenly have an “accident”....
Wouldn’t be the first time a Chicago politician got his butt out of a jam by having some underling jump in front of a fast freight, fall in the river, commit “suicide” by shooting himself in the head three or four times or all of the above.
