"...It probably irks Mitt to have to discuss his faith in this way, but the Mormon debate could be of net benefit to his campaign.
...True, there is a small but significant minority who say they would never vote for a Mormon. According to Gallup, its around 22 percent of the population. But opposition to Mormonism doesnt come from conservative Evangelicals or Catholics. On the contrary, Gallups polls show that its a liberal thing. Only 7 percent of Baptists and Catholics wouldnt vote for a Mormon, compared with 32 percent of gays and 49 percent of atheists. Amusingly, the figure is also much, much higher among Mormons, at 22 percent. Thats right, 22 percent of Mormons would never vote for a Mormon. Perhaps they know something we dont."

The same freedom of religion that allows Mormons to practice their faith, allows us to speak out against the heresies. It works both ways.
No one is saying they can’t practice their faith, but we will not let them lie to potential converts without trying to warn people.
I believe what began as a cult has changed for the better. The Mormon faith has come a long way from its questionable beginnings. If God works, to cause the seductive words of Joseph Smith, to lead men to Christ, that is a good thing

No it hasn’t, not really. And it leads people to a false Christ who place their real faith in the Mormon church, not Christ. The doctrine of Grace, as Christians believe it, is never taught in Mormonism, theirs is a works based faith, whose members take oaths while wearing aprons that symbolize Lucifer’s priesthood. And yes, I can document all of this.
Been there, done that.
I’ll say this - if Romney were a true Conservative, I would be severely conflicted about supporting him. But him being a flip-flopping RINO plus a Mormon, that seals it.
In short, I believe God used Joseph Smith to bring men to his glory.

In short, Satan used Joseph Smith to bring people to their damnation.
The big issues is in regards to baptism and the issue of the addition of an extra book of scripture, Book of Mormon, which the Lord in Revelations warns to neither add or subtract.

Oh, honey, that is just the TIP of the iceburg. Mormon theology gets a lot more demonic and heretical than that. Let me know if you want examples (see tagline)
Nor can we survive as a nation with Mitt Romney in the White House.
No Mitt, NEVER!
Dont we as conservatives hope that a persons faith will influence their decisions?

I expect it, which is why I will never vote for a Mormon.
You’d not find a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints who disagrees with one thing in the above statement of what Christians believe.

No, they just redefine the words (like God, begotten, virgin, where Christ took the sins upon himself, etc)so no Christian would actually recognize the doctrine.
Hogwash Sandy. All other churches agree on the basics. Catholic and Orthodox accept Lutheran, evangelical, and each other’s baptisms.
NO ONE accepts Mormon baptism.
That is just a typical pat Mormon answer that isn’t really true. There isn’t the infighting that the LDS claim between Christian churches, particularly abroad.
Anyone who does not accept Christ’s sacrifice on the Cross is going to Hell. And Mormons don’t believe in a personal relationship with Christ. Or do you need me to post McConkie’s talk again?
Wow, you don’t understand the doctrine of Original sin (or sin nature) at all, do you 1010?
I agree with you but that is exactly why the preacher was asked about Romney’s Mormonism...they knew what he would say...and he didn’t say anything in his introduction so they had to ask him afterward. According to the preache, he and Perry barely know each other, “they can’t make me another Jerimiah Wright.”
There are lots of false teachings that are not Mormonism. The question is, Has the Mormon church ever taught that all other religions are abominations or apostate?

Want me to field that one for you, Sandy? I have quotes handy.
I do not trust Glen Beck, because I know the keywords he is using and what they mean to Mormons and how they are deliberately used to make people think he means the same thing as Christans. Also, more and more Mormonism is creeping into his shows and speeches, however many non-Mormons aren’t familiar enough with Mormon doctrine/teachings/history/pat answers to recognize it and that is what I find dangerous.
The Church of Satan will find that position comforting as they seek office...

They already are...Mitt Romney.
LOL
To denigrate means to cast aspersions. You mean you haven't been casting aspersions on anybody on this thread because of their religious views?
You are the one who was trying to say how "honest" lds were as a lot. Keep in mind that given that Lds are only 2% of the population, and that I only went back 2.5 years, that means that for an equivalent presentation you would need to find almost 40 such crimes involving Christians for every Lds affinity fraud case I mentioned. (That is the ratio between Christians vs. Lds)
That means for an equivalency you would need to come up with over 750 financial criminal fraud cases in the U.S. in headlines over the past 2.5 years.
Do you ever spend time here spreading the good word, or do you just rip Mormons all day long?
Of course, the Gospel is proclaimed. Look at Jesus, however, in the way He treated the religious legalists of His day, the Pharisees. How many "nice" things did He have to say about them? Vipers? Whitewashed tombs? Men who traversed the world to make others "twice the son of hell." Men who shut the kingdom of God in the faces of others. In John 8, he referenced them children of the devil.
Jesus said the Kingdom is for those who see their need for a Physician. We comfort them. For the Pharisees, Jesus afflicted the comfortable.
Are you trying to be "nicer than Jesus?"
I thought I could hold my nose and vote for Romney if he got the nomination, but in hindsight I can't. I'd vote for a Jew or a Catholic in a heartbeat compared to supporting a Mormon. You might as well ask me to vote for a Muslim or Scientologist. This campaign by the Mormons to put ads out trying to downplay certain aspects and that they are normal is just making things all that much worse for Romney IMO. [af_vet_rr]
Bingo.
Are you trying to say, Iron Munro, that voting for say, a Scientologist is the same as considering a RC POTUS candidate?
Does this mean that voters are not to consider the other-worldly worldviews of a Scientologist POTUS? If a Scientologist runs for POTUS, supposed Thetans, the Planet Venus, and L. Ron Hubbard are all off-limits for discussion and weighing of that candidate?...just 'cause JFK was Roman Catholic?
Really?
See Similarities between Mormonism and Scientology
I mean, L. Ron Hubbard could have easily substituted Mormonism's Kolob for Venus in his religion.
Oh, and if you want to know what a "Thetan" is, here:
According to Scientology, when a person dies or, in Scientology terms, when a thetan abandons its physical body they go to a "landing station" on the planet Venus, where the thetan is re-implanted and told lies about its past life and its next life. The Venusians take the thetan, "capsule" it, and send it back to Earth to be dumped into the ocean off the coast of California. Source: Thetan (Wikipedia)
Seems to me that, per the Mormon myth narrative, when when an earthling is becoming "encapsuled" they leave from a "launching station" on the planet Kolob, where the Mormon spirit is implanted inside a human body, and once born with a Mormon family, the Mormon is told lies about its past life and its next life. The Mormon gods take the Mormon, "capsule" it in that body, and send it to Earth to be dumped at age 8 into the Mormon baptismal founts off of many international coasts.
This will go nowhere but down, so I bow out.
(Caww is one of OUR 'prophets'! ;^)
