Some hold this world view that government must be central in our lives and serve as our caretaker - they seek more than equal opportunity, they seek equal outcomes. Those in the White House today don't believe in American exceptionalism, they'd rather emulate the failed policies of Europe. But we see what their policies have led to. 14 million Americans out of work. 45 million Americans on food stamps. And according to WSJ, nearly half of Americans receive government assistance.
C-Span Video about 25 minutes
...”And like all of you in here, I still believe in the exceptionalism of America. And to paraphrase Abraham Lincoln and Ronald Reagan, America remains the last best hope for mankind. We must never forget that the exceptionalsim of America can be traced right to our founding principles. The framers of our Constitution were the first in history to declare that all men are created equal, endowed by their Creator with certain unalienable rights. The hand of providence has guided America throughout our history. From those first colonists to arrive in the New World, to the courage of George Washington during those darkest hours at Valley Forge, to the defeat of tyranny during two world wars and the cold war.
Time and time again, America has been the source of light in a world thats been beset by darkness. And like a lighthouse perched on the shore, we have provided the safe harbor to millions who have been adrift in a sea of economic misery.
We can still be the country we aspire to be a source of light and hope to all who live here and those who come here. Anchored by our ideals, we can rebuild on the solid foundation of truth, instead of the shifting sands of moral relativism. We can restore hope at home while projecting our values abroad. We can be the freest and most prosperous” [video cuts off] - Perry
Do you ever sleep? Or do you get paid by the post?
Sorry for any typos or errors I made typing up Gov. Perry’s speech (transcribed from the video). If I find a source with the text I’ll post it.
The link above takes you to the video. It is good to watch Perry’s presentation and see the response of the audience.
If anyone has a link to Gov. Perry’s Values Voter Summit speech, please leave a link on the thread.
Thank you.
Thank you for stopping by.
Good night. Watching the speech and reading it gave me optimism that I saw our next President of the United States with the torch from President Ronald Reagan in his hand.
I hope these are truly his convictions. I hope he realizes that the family values, teen pregnancy, incarceration, jobs, our culture, all of it is jeopardized by the millions of foreigners invading our country.
When he says he will not give amnesty, I hope he isnt using McCains definition.
When he talks about the trouble in Europe, I hope he recognizes that immigration, just like here, is changing the demographics and values.
If he can pull himself back up in the polls, I hope the rest of the pack can see what we want.
It's too bad I can't stay but have to rush off again and not come back, and certainly not stick around a while so you can enjoy my company, eh?
Spare us the poisoned candy dish.
Go see George Clooney in The Ides of March. A classic.
From what I've read elsewhere, the actual book it was based on, was written a few years ago as a roman a clef about the campaign of former Gov. Howard Dean, but a lot of people say it does a good job of portraying Barack Obama as well.
I badmouthed Rick Perry and Ill badmouth anyone that cant see that everything Perry said in his speech can be directly attributed to uneducated government dependent welfare queens invading our country.
I want to make this an issue and apparently it worked with Perry.
Thank you for the link!
It sounds to me like Gov Perry has been briefed and is quite aware of the needs on the Tx border.
Perry is using the plan that the professionals on the ground recommend. Too bad Obama didn’t listen to his generals in Afghanistan.
Candidates can say whatever they want up on a stage, but Perry is the only one who has dealt with the Texas border and the men working that border. He speaks from experience.
This also tells me he listens to his men and doesn’t change course, even when it isn’t politically advantageous keeping to that position. I respect that.

“Most assessments admit that the SBI experiment failed due to cost and technology shortfalls.
The cost per mile to build southwestern border fencing was prohibitive and the SBINet system was never proven to be technologically feasible.
Nevertheless, by late 2008 about $2.4 billion had been allocated to complete approximately 670 miles of vehicle and pedestrian fencing along the roughly 2,000 miles of border between the United States and Mexico.
Proposals to build security fences along the U.S.-Mexico border also inflamed sentiment in Mexico and the U.S. Texas DPS concludes that a fence from Brownsville to ElPaso would simply be too expensive to build and keep under surveillance.
A strategic fence effort would limit fence building to established crossing points, ports of entry and metropolitan areas.”

“The bottom line, however, is that while today Texas is the front line in this escalating war, the potential consequences of success or failure will affect our entire nation.
Thus, it is up to the nation to support Texas in its efforts to defeat this transnational
criminal enterprise”
Here is Perry's newest ad (1 minute)
I did listen before commenting and as I said earlier, I still dont know where he stands. Is this McCains definition of amnesty or is it what everyone else considers the definition of amnesty.
” Perry is cramming for the next debate, harder than he did for the “Poultry Feed” exam at Texas A&M. “
Perry: “ Those darn chickens!......ya can’t feed em, and you can’t defeat em! “
If you say that we should not educate children who have come into our state for no other reason than theyve been brought there by no fault of their own, I dont think you have a heart - PerryHere in Illinois when we HAD In State Tuition for ILLEGALS shoved down our throats -- and into our pockets the RATS said it just a tad different.
If they say that we should not educate children who have come into our state for no other reason than theyve been brought there by no fault of their own, we don't think the Republicans want your VOTES!Basically the same thing.
(((( ping ))) to 35
You have done well. Appreciate your hard work to illuminate his words at the VVS.
On another thread, an article called Perry a “Progressive”, that wasn’t the article’s theme, it was just a passing reference to make a different point.
Yeah, right. Every “Progressive” believes and advocates and practices what Governor Perry does. LOL
Such as:
Low taxes.
Low regulation.
State rights under the 10th Amendment.
Pro Founding Fathers and Founding Documents.
Pro traditional values of family and faith and freedom.
Pro American Exceptionalism. (America as the light of freedom and economic opportunity in a dark world)
Pro Israel (Specifically thanked them for bombing Iraq’s nuclear reactor and later Syria’s nuclear program)
IF you'd rather NOT be pinged FReepmail me.
IF you'd like to be added FReepmail me. Thanks.
