Here’s a link from about a month after Obama’s inauguration, from February, 2009:

Wake up America: Texas Gov. Perry Asks for Troops

http://wwwwakeupamericans-spree.blogspot.com/2009/02/texas-gov-perry-asks-for-troops.html

From driftdriver this very day: “Perry supports sending troops to Mexico but not to the border”

Very alinsky of you.

Doesn’t work, Perry isn’t strong on immigration.

That’s Mrs. skippy or Dr. skippy to you - at least until you post the source for your accusations in post #60 and #136.

(BTW, you linked twice to the same article.)

You use Kinky Friedman and his words from 2006 as your source. You do know that Mr. Friedman has endorsed Governor Perry, don’t you?
http://www.freerepublic.com/focus/f-news/2768745/posts

Then, let’s see Kinky’s words from 2011:

“If the issue of the day is jobs and the economy, Rick Perry is certainly the nuts-and-bolts kind of guy you want in there. Even though my pal and fellow Texan Paul Begala has pointed out that no self-respecting Mexican would sneak across the border for one of Rick Perry’s low-level jobs, the stats don’t entirely lie. Compared with the rest of the country, Texas is kicking major ass in terms of jobs and the economy, and Rick should get credit for that, just as Obama should get credit for saying “No comment” to the young people of the Iranian revolution.

“More to the point, could Rick Perry fix the economy? Hell, yes! Texas is exhibit A; Rick’s fingerprints are all over it. He’s been governor since Christ was a cowboy. The Lone Star State is booming. The last time I checked, Texas is kicking in a hell of a lot of the U.S. GDP. Unemployment is lower than the vast majority of the other states. Hell, we could probably even find a job for Paul Begala.

“As a Jewish cowboy (or “Juusshh,” as we say in Texas), I know Rick Perry to be a true friend of Israel, like Bill Clinton and George W. before him. There exists a visceral John Wayne kinship between Israelis and Texans, and Rick Perry gets it. That’s why he’s visited Israel on many more occasions than Obama, who’s been there exactly zero times as president. If I were Obama I wouldn’t go either. His favorability rating in Israel once clocked in at 4 percent. Say what you will about the Israelis, but they are not slow out of the chute. They know who their friends are. On the topic of the Holy Land, there remains the little matter of God. God talks to televangelists, football coaches, and people in mental hospitals. Why shouldn’t he talk to Rick Perry? In the spirit of Joseph Heller, I have a covenant with God. I leave him alone and he leaves me alone. If, however, I have a big problem, I ask God for the answer. He tells Rick Perry. And Rick tells me.

“So would I support Rick Perry for president? Hell, yes! As the last nail that hasn’t been hammered down in this country, I agree with Rick that there are already too damn many laws, taxes, regulations, panels, committees, and bureaucrats. While Obama is busy putting the hyphen between “anal” and “retentive” Rick will be rolling up his sleeves and getting to work.

“A still, small voice within keeps telling me that Rick Perry’s best day may yet be ahead of him, and so too, hopefully, will be America’s.”

Nevertheless, you still haven’t supported your claim that the Governor does not want troops on the border.

Why does he meet with La Raza?
Why does he resist a fence?
Why does he support illegals?

seriously, why does he support criminals over American citizens? making calls he knows will be rejected mean nothing.

Rick Perry: Strategic Fencing and National Guard Troops to Prevent Illegal Immigration

http://theconservativetreehouse.com/2011/09/03/rick-perry-%E2%80%9Cstrategic-fencing%E2%80%9D-and-national-guard-troops-to-prevent-illegal-immigration%E2%80%A6/

Here’s one from a recent NH campaign speech in which Perry says if elected President he would employ strategic fencing, National Guard troops on the border and technical assets in order to guard the borders.

The blaring headlines out of that statement was that he was against a border fence. Au contraire, he would not implement a continuous fence but strategically employ one, and it just goes to show you the distortions against Perry, as we have driftdriver this very day posting the following re: Perry on border troops:

Driftdriver said, “Perry supports sending troops to Mexico but not to the border”

How easy is it for anyone to find the truth?: easier than “falling off a log backwards”.

Keep attacking me, its quite a failed strategy.

Perry supports illegals over Americans. Its just that simple.

I’m still waiting for the source of his statements. He keeps changing the question, but never answers.

You and I are working too hard when he won’t give a source.

Nevertheless, here’s originals:

A link to the truth is an attack, in your bizarro world.

Another link to the truth:

Rick Perry: Secure the Border, It’s a War Zone - Katie Pavlich

http://townhall.com/tipsheet/katiepavlich/2011/08/15/rick_perry_secure_the_border,_its_a_war_zone

Within this link more proof Perry wants National Guard troops on the border. But just today, driftdriver said on this forum: “Perry supports sending troops to Mexico but not to the border”

I love the smell of Truth in the evening...

hocndoc, it is raining in West Texas. Praise the Almighty, our prayers have been answered.

>> Go see George Clooney in The Ides of March. A classic. <<

No conservative should use the phrases "George Clooney" and "Go see" in the same sentence. And adding the word "classic" makes it even worse.

That's like using the words "Michael Moore" with "free market champion" and "conservative values"

Reality check — knock out Perry and it’s going to Mitt vs. Obama. At the end of the day, the establishment and the average republican primary voter isn’t going to let Cain win the nomination. Better to get those core conservative values with Perry and work with him on immigration later. Four more years of obama and you can kiss the USA goodbye. I’m not about to risk that because of a single issue. He’s conservative on everything else and he’d be a hell of a lot better as commander in chief. The choice is pretty much a no brainer.

I don't blame you, or any state that won't

What really irked us FReepers on the IL Board was that *thing* would not have passed without the help of GOP RINOs (a given) but get this: with votes of GOP 'conservatives'.

That vote cost most of them their cushy state Rep & Sen jobs.
