Some hold this world view that government must be central in our lives and serve as our caretaker - they seek more than equal opportunity, they seek equal outcomes. Those in the White House today don't believe in American exceptionalism, they'd rather emulate the failed policies of Europe. But we see what their policies have led to. 14 million Americans out of work. 45 million Americans on food stamps. And according to WSJ, nearly half of Americans receive government assistance.

“Perry wants to repeal the 16th and 17th Amendments”
Lots of people want that ... but it’s a pipe dream. It’s why the FAIR Tax is a pipe dream. You need 67 senators to make repeal happen, and we will never get there (same on Human Life Amendment).
Cain’s 9-9-9 plan is the only realistic way to shift to consumption taxes. OTOH, it is a valid concern that adding another tax, like a VAT, without outlawing income taxes, will open us up to higher taxes if/when Democrats get back in power.
The rest of Dr Wheeler’s attack on Cain is BS.
Perry opposition posters consistently put out lies and half-truths.
Gov. Perry is the one who worries those who don’t want lawsuit abuse reform, Big Education reform, regulation reform, tax cuts, the demise of ObamaCare, insurance reform, border security, etc, etc espoused from the bully pulpit of the presidency.
And they know with out a doubt that a Perry candidacy will have huge coattails and a conservative ascendancy for generations to come.
I’m a Texan who has lived under Bush and Perry’s “leadership”. Both have gone to extraordinary lengths to prove how conservative they are. We know now how big a liar Bush is in that regard. Perry is cut from the same cloth. Any politian that has to convince the electorate that they are conservative to the extent that Perry and his shills have is no conservative- and his dismal record as a nanny state statist proves it.
This is not the way any would want America to go as a nation!

the vaunted job creation in TX is because of the gas/oil boom there - nothing to do with Perry!
"We can see that Texas has grown the fastest, having increased jobs by 2.2% since the recession started. I want to take a moment and point out that second place is held by North Dakota. I added North Dakota to my list of states to show something very important. North Dakota currently has the lowest unemployment rate of any state at 3.2%. And yet Texas is adding jobs at a faster rate than North Dakota. How can this be?
"The reason is that people are flocking to Texas in massive numbers. Starting at the beginning of the recession (December 2007), let's look at how this set of states have grown in their labor force.
"As you can see, Texas isn't just the fastest growing... it's growing over twice as fast as the second fastest state and three times as fast as the third. Given that Texas is (to borrow a technical term) f***ing huge, this growth is incredible."
"People are flocking to Texas in massive numbers. This is speculative, but it *seems* that people are moving to Texas looking for jobs rather than moving to Texas for a job they already have lined up. This would explain why Texas is adding jobs faster than any other state but still has a relatively high unemployment rate."
************
"When we finally get the data, we discover that energy isn't really the biggest part of the Texas economy. Increases in jobs in the energy sector (or closely related to it) account for about 25% of the job increases in the last year. Since the energy sector only makes up 3% of all employment, there is some truth to this claim.
"However, take the energy sector completely out of the equation and Texas is still growing faster than any other state. This indicates to us that the energy sector is not a single sector saving Texas from the same economic fate as the rest of the states. It's not hurting, but Texas would still be growing like a weed without it."
********************
"I'll leave you with my personal favorite chart. I mentioned at the beginning that Texas is seeing high unemployment in a large part because they're growing so damn fast. The problem with this from a charts and graphs perspective is that it leaves worse states off the hook, making them look better than they actually are. Looking at unemployment alone, we would conclude that Wisconsin has a better economy than Texas. But Wisconsin is still 120K short of it's pre-recession numbers. The only reason they look better than Texas is because 32,000 people fled the state.
"During that time, 739,000 people fled into Texas. Anyone who takes that data and pretends that this is somehow bad news for Texas is simply not being honest. At the worst, I'd call it a good problem to have.
"So, to give something of a better feeling for the economic situation across states, this chart takes the population of the states I selected above and judges the current job situation against the population as it stood at the beginning of the recession.
"Using that metric, Texas would have a very low unemployment rate of 2.3%. But the fact that unemployment in the United States is fluid means that the unemployed flock to a place where there are jobs, which inflates its unemployment rate (at least in the short term). It's not a bad thing for Texas... it just looks bad when dealing with the isolated "unemployment %" statistic."
"Give me about me men who are sleek and sleep o' nights"..... I got the "sleek" part down, lol!
Gathering up that money to send to Texas? Rounding up some Pennsylvanian rangers? Sure could use some other states’ help defending the international border that the feds won’t. Let us know when you’re on your way and we’ll welcome you at the LA border.
I live in TX. I know where those jobs are. The Dallas and Austin areas have lots of tech sector jobs. Texas' research/treatment hospitals, especially MD Anderson treat patients from around the world. Toyota, and other manufacturers here in TX, the energy sector, logistics companies.
Just because you want to pretend all the new jobs in TX are minimum wage jobs at Burger Kings, doesn't make it true. You sound like the Dem's with their little bullet talking points.
I am aware there are illegal immigrants working in construction, agriculture, and food service, but I am also sure the majority of workers in those jobs are not illegal immigrants
As an aside, I know someone, who every year has gotten seasonal workers, the same workers for years via the gov't's guestworker program.
This year, when the person applied for the same old workers that have come for probably fifteen or more years, the farmer was told he couldn't chose the workers who he could get..and also, that for each male worker, he would have to have a female worker.
So, his four workers who know the business, know the equipment, have their house they're used to would be replaced by workers who don't know the business, the equipment, etc, plus farmer person would get two females, who most likely would not be able to do the physically demanding job of loading cases of produce.
IIRC, the government "fees" are about $3500..I don't even remember if that was per worker, or all total. So, in the reality of bottom lines, I can see how the government's new position would encourage an employer to just bring in the same seasonal agricultural employees illegally, rather than being stuck with total unknowns, half of whom would be useless to the work required.
As a Texan thank you for your post...I realize there are Texans who understand the truth about Perry and always glad to see them state how they see him and their state.
Having investegated Perrys work and numerous articles, as I was interested in where he actually stands....I have found it impossible to support him. I still say he is toxic to this nation if he becomes President.
The only hope I have if he gets it is enough would oppose what he would attempt to impliment or at least persuade him otherwise. Unfortunately too many in office are also Globalists so who knows if the opposition would be strong enough.
A factually laughable assertion.
Your personal expereinces are not relevant to the whole of the stats we see consistantly showing Texas is not the success Perry states....maybe for Texas it’s a favorable thing considering most are in board to see their state continue as is.....but it is not good for America and I don’t want our nations to remotely reflect TExas.
Rick, say thank you to Mr. Simmons and Mr. Butts.
17 million illegals, you’re a little low I think.
By the way I would chance saying if not for the oil business in your state it would look alot like Mexico given the immigration you have.
I have no doubt any state would come running guns in hand if Perry ever got serious about the border issues....He’s not...and He never will be interested in closing the border so the mess he’s allowed could be cleaned up.
Well, they are liberals or libertarians, because Rick Perry keeps being reelected by conservative Texans.
