Rick Perry Remarks at Values Voters Summit
C-SPAN Video ^ | October 7, 2011

Posted on 10/08/2011 12:01:07 AM PDT by Cincinatus' Wife

Some hold this world view that government must be central in our lives and serve as our caretaker - they seek more than equal opportunity, they seek equal outcomes. Those in the White House today don't believe in American exceptionalism, they'd rather emulate the failed policies of Europe. But we see what their policies have led to. 14 million Americans out of work. 45 million Americans on food stamps. And according to WSJ, nearly half of Americans receive government assistance.

Coming from one who lied and said Perry does not support troops on the border, wherein I replied with linked proof and other info proving without shadow of doubt that he does and repeatedly has supported it, there’s no credibility to your repeated cheap shot, one liner lies.

I'm not sure who is trying to push the economy and jobs out of the way in this primary season, but on jobs, the economy and overburdening regulation, Perry and Texas "gets it".

Perry gets minimum wage jobs and his state succeeds because of the oil and gas revenues...and the foreing companies and investors he cow-tows to along with cheap labor.

The stats on Texas education, welfare, and various others are not favorable for this nation...that's Texas not the US.

I have zero desire to see the nations look like Texas....it's appauling to consider.....so stop trying to state it's success on jobs. Take a look at who is working those jobs and where they are.

A free market government has a vested interest in encouraging local enterprise; it does help the local economy when they can support (buy stock, give seed money, forgive taxes for a time, provide a workshop, etc) business, innovation, engineering and science -- for the good of their citizens (jobs, larger tax base, economic draw for more business and citizens). The 2003 Texas Enterprise Fund helps with this. People who have examined it have found that it is conservative and that it is not politically driven and that it goes to a vast number of businesses.

If you have another point of view I can't help that. But to me it is the function of government to be small and as Gov. Rick Perry puts it, create an environment that is friendly to business by 1. Don't spend all the money (sound advice for everyone as well as for a sound government) 2. Have fair and predictable regulations and tax policy 3. Don't over sue.

I've heard Gov. Perry say publicly, several times, that government needs to get out of the way so that investors will feel safe investing their money, knowing that they will have a good chance to make a return on their investment.

Now, I have taken the time to, I believe, thoughtfully answer your question. If you want to discuss it I will be glad to but I will not respond to continued cut and past nonsense with no thought other than to spam threads and bash Gov. Perry in your attempt to "help" some other candidate.

I’ll keep posting sources. Are you too lazy or is it that you have no sources?

In May, 2002, the Governor used funds from his own office to institute Counter Terrorism training at the Port of Houston and another separate program to train state and local law enforcement.

Announcement about winning Federal grants to build border security facilities at the border crossings, to inspect trucks and other vehicles(there were none before 2002).http://governor.state.tx.us/news/speech/10787/

40 percent of the new jobs were taken by illegal immigrants, while 40 percent were taken by legal immigrants.

The vast majority of both groups, legal and illegal, were not American citizens......Native-born Americans filled just 20 percent of the new jobs in Texas, the report says, even though "the native born accounted for 69 percent of the growth in Texas' working-age population."

"Thus, even though natives made up most of the growth in potential workers, most of the job growth went to immigrants,"

Gov. Perry supports in-state tuition for illegal immigrants as well as a guest-worker program.

Drift...these are primarily texans who are promoting Perry..and I suppose I might to likewise if my state was going to the dogs.

I on the other hand choose to fight illegal immigration and the globalist agenda perry has in mind for our country.

He spouts words now..reframed to be more palatable to the uniformed but he is toxic to our nation as a whole.

He’s allowed the border to become as it is by not addressing the issues as he faced them...given his many years as Gov. had he truly wanted a secure border he’s had plenty of time to accomplish this.....but impossible with the policies he’s established and the enabling of “others” to cross the border and attend to them as he choose to do.

I will not support him or his agenda for this nation...not going to have our nation look like Texas....nor support his globalist agenda.

Yep, you’re right the states can’t do anything which is exactly what Perry has done.

Correction, he’s helped and encouraged illegals.

It doesn’t matter so much if Perry is “done” or not, truth matters, that’s why we proved your false statement false that he’s against troops on the border, when google and our own site are overflowing with proof he is one of its foremost advocates.

In that sense, you are as “done” here as you claim Perry is done.

Oh, you’ll hang around and post already refuted falsehoods, but we’ll stay around and link all who read it to proof otherwise.

That’s what I mean by “done”.

And do so whether Perry wins or not.

Perry on Border Security

(Proof Perry supports troops on the border, refuting “driftdiver” claim that he does not support troops on the border):

Here’s a thought.. How about spending time promoting your candidate, rather than tearing down others non-stop? Perry isn’t perfect, but he’s a solid conservative most of the time

If Cain fizzles, then what? Romney?

Wow

Lies? Ha! I wish. Perry is on record as wanting to send US troops to Mexico.

During the debates he’s said you can’t build a fence and you would need too many troops to secure the US-Mexico border.

You can post all you want what Perry has attempted...but obvious isn’t working now is it...he’s till crying out for help which attests to the fact his policies have not accomplished the desired end Americans’ want for the border.

However his polices continue to assist illegal immigration and they continue to pour over the border. Perry can say he’s against ammnesty but all that he actually does assists and moves that policey forward.

So he’s a flip flopper?? He certainly said he’s against it during the debates.

You Perry bots sure like to ignore the reality that he’s a RINO.

That is truly supporting the fact his polices for border control are not working......it's so out of hand because of his policies...now he's screaming we need troops....and then says troops won't work...which is it?

This guy is starting to really sway with the wind!
