Court Orders Fisherman to Apologize to Eagle

(Sioux Falls, SD) A peaceful Sunday of fishing turned sour for Josh Williams recently. The problems started when Mr. Williams hooked a nice smallmouth bass, and a bald eagle took notice. While the eagle swooped in, attempting to catch the bass in its talons, Mr. Williams was observed by a Fish and Wildlife Service officer trying to scare the eagle away by throwing stones at it.

I was on the beach the other day and a lady tourist was watching a Bald Eagle that had taken a mullet, flying inland to eat. I remarked that millions of people had died of malaria since 1963 just so we could see that bird. Even though she was in her 50s, she had no idea what I was referring to. Of course the reference was to the impact of Rachael Carson’s “Silent Spring” which led to the DDT ban and the resurgence of malaria, which had been eradicated.

Last eagle I tried to talk to only spoke an ancient for of Chinese, I had to get my dog to interpret for me.

My dog got run over and he was the last one alive that could interpret the language, so there is no interpreter left.
