The conscience of conservatism.
Vanity ^ | October 6, 2011 | Nathan Bedford

Posted on 10/05/2011 7:19:03 PM PDT by nathanbedford

Sarah Palin's true role will be revealed in her next contribution to conservatism. The first token will be seen in her participation in primaries on behalf of conservatives against rinos. After the election, assuming a Republican president and a Republican Senate, look for Sarah Palin to assume the role of the conscience of conservatism.

When Sarah Palin burst onto the national scene she was reflexively and viscerally loathed by the left. The left's reaction was visceral in the sense that it was not cerebral. They loathed Sarah Palin, they could do no other, and they did not even know why. The cliché, "fear and loathing" is a cliché because we recognize that one emotion comes shackled to the other. They fear Sarah Palin because they loathe her.

Their reaction was involuntary. Before the election I described it thus:

It is the Billy Budd effect. If you recall your Melville, you will know that Billy Budd was a figure of good whose very presence antagonized the first mate who persecuted Billy Budd unmercifully. The mate was driven to do this unconsciously because the mate was a figure of evil. The mate had his demons. So it is with the left in America today, they are driven to a visceral hatred of Sarah Palin because she is the 21st century figure of Billy Budd. Sarah Palin committed an unforgivable affront, she knowingly carried a Mongoloid to term. This cannot be forgiven. This is the ultimate reproach to the entire belief system of the left. Sarah Palin need not even open her mouth and she is hated with a cold and unremitting fury.

This is why I said that the left hates Sarah Palin not for what she says or how she appears on television but for who she is. The left must react as evil always reacts in the presence of good. Like the second mate, they must persecute Sarah Palin and they do not even know why.

The left loathes Sarah Palin because that is how evil reacts to the presence of good. The left fears Sarah Palin because they know she is a living reproach to their bloody hands. Beyond abortion, which is to say beyond a holocaust of 40 million deaths, the left fears Palin because she puts the lie to the vast, vacuous fraud that is modern liberalism. They cannot coexist with her image and survive. She must be destroyed or they must ultimately be exposed.

To a lesser degree these principles also apply to the Republican Party. The Republican Party must become more like Sarah Palin if it is to survive. If the party does not strive after virtue it will fall victim to factions, most likely the tea party.

To those Freepers who mourn Sarah's decision, I direct you to the historic contributions to a conservative America that she alone can make but only so long as she stays out of the fray.

Sarah Palin is unique in history in that she can rebuke and admonish every Republican administration and every Republican Congress as and if they succumb to the siren of the left. She can fill this role only because she is not a candidate. She can play this role because of the uniqueness of her persona. She has paid her dues. She has demonstrated that she is the real deal and she has done so when no one was watching.

Because she is Sarah Palin her remonstrances cannot be ignored in Republican circles. I can think of no greater service which she might render the conservative movement than to become a modern-day Old Testament Jeremiah calling the wayward to righteousness. We all agree that a service to the conservative movement is a service to the nation.

............yes, she is on Hannity at this moment...................

I can’t believe all the folks that can’t see the elephant in the living room. She concsiously and premeditatedly over a period of months strung millions of people along with her verbal pronouncements, her bus tours, her appearances on TV and so on and so on. And, millions of people donated money to her in this depression!

NO, and again, I appreciate her but I am just not interested in her north or south, anymore.

I don’t think she even get’s it. Simply put, millions of people are not going to like her anymore.

It would be absolutely stupid if they didn’t ask her to speak. It isn’t like she lost the nomination the way that Reagan did in ‘76. In ‘76 it was obvious that Reagan should have been nominated. In 2012 the GOP won’t have her as a choice. She can really fire up the base for the candidate and give everyone hope for a 16 year run at the White House. It is what she does best.

Not a bad theory, but we'll never know.

What I do know, is that she's done, finished, over and those who believe otherwise are dreaming!

If the GOP nominee wins the election, then that person will have the influence,or not;not Palin!

If our nominee loses to Obama, then, some might feel that she allowed him to win, by not joining in the fray.

Her time was NOW.........even IF she didn't make it all the way, at least she would have been there. And this all too long, drawn out will she/won't she just looks pathetic now.

SP will do what she has been doing, which is what the Limp wrist ed Pubbiies should have been doing. She was virtually all alone in her slamming of the Rats and Obummer and she was getting all the slings and arrows while they sat on their thumbs, neither criticizing Bummer and the rats or sticking up for SP.

I think the low point for me with these so called Pubbie leaders is when Gifford's was shot and the Rat Media and Rats onslaugt blamed Sarah, and not one of the Pubbies stuck up for her. All the Pubbies she helped get elected, and help get the House back in Pubbie hands and they were mute when she needed them.

Pay backs are a _itch.

I'd be more comfortable if I knew for sure which way you meant the backhanded allusion to Goldwater: she was calumnied out, like him? Or she's felt to be dangerous and unstable, like liberals slandered Goldwater as being?

Palin isn’t done as a politician. I agree she’s done for now. But if she decides to use this time to take on and hold a substantive job for three or four years, she can return extremely strong. And maybe run for President.

Her problem is that she needs to accomplish something of substance to rebuild her image. It might take 6 to 10 years but it can be done. Take a break. Forget the reality tv and Fox news. Run a business. Take a cabinet post. Stay home and raise the family. Any or all of those things. Do something serious for a long period of time.

I have three of the DVD’s and I intend to make sure the record is set straight on what the pond scum did because a lot of America still does not know.

Take a few days to re-evaluate,you may even be surprised at how differently you will feel.

"MEAN" ?

"CHILDISH"?

"IRRATIONAL" ?

Wanna see who exemplifies those traits ? GO LOOK INTO THE NEAREST MIRROR!

This is the real world, a real world where dropouts are failures, not "leading lights" !

You get a grip and while you're at it, go learn some political history!

Why should anyone care, now, what she has to say?

If she decided not to throw her hat into the ring, to shield her family.....fine,but she shouldn't now expect to be some heralded voice from the wilderness that everyone should care about. There are other voices, now, who have more standing.

We aren't children (well, perhaps some are, but I'm not and neither are many others ), who need her guidance on whom to support and/or vote for.

She can no longer “fire up” as many as you suppose.

Staying home and raising her family won't add anything to her CV and neither will it add anything of substance.

I doubt that she'll take a job ( are you alluding to a Cabinet post or the like, running for some office ?) that will help her any either.

Her problem is, I believe that she now believes that she can just so some stuff on FB and TWEETS and that will keep her in the game. It won't.

The show on TLC is long gone and I doubt there'll be another.

She's hardly ever on FOX now.

More books? LOL

Lots of speeches? ROTFLMSO

Look at history.......it's a good indicator of what will transpire. Few pols make any kind of come backs and fewer still make successful ones.

I’ll think about it.

She better be out there with a quick endorsement of one of the others(Cain), or were screwed again by another conservative coward.

How can you drop out of something you never jumped in? I am beginning to think that some people that said they were for SP were not really at all.

We are all a bit upset because she is the only one that would have gotten all of the trash both the Rats and Pubs out of DC.

Always have a plan B. Herman Cain, or a take over of the Convention both sound good to me.

She fought the good fight with no help except family and her supporters, and I think you are being very unfair. She does not need fair weather friends. I will still be there, and so will most of her supporters.

I think that most of the SP supporters will naturally go to Cain, and we owe it to all conservatives to donate to Cain now. Santorum is the only other candidate I would consider, but he could not even get re-elected in PA. He is really good on all the issues, but alas he is not going to be the one.

Palin hinted, she implied,Bristol did the same, there was that bus tour, and many other examples of her sly/coy innuendo that she would run. So stop being a naif and also calling out others, because we are more realistic than you are.

I was a gigantic Palin supporter! So impugning me, with your delusional invective, is silly beyond words.

I am now left with only a big fat HOLD YOUR NOSE choice;not a single candidate to get enthused about.

Cain? You don't really want me to explain why he's not someone I can readily get behind and Perry and Romney are no goes as well. The rest of the field? O-M-G.....don't get me started !

Take over the Convention? Are you really THAT delusional? Those days are loooooooooooooong gone, as are the cigars, which once filled smoke filled back rooms!

If the National Party bosses still held any sway, Clinton would NEVER have been the nominee in '92 and Obama would still be in the Ill. Senate....maybe, if he wasn't still on the streets of Chicago rabble rousing with ACORN and the New Black Panther Party.

Okay,I wasn't going to do this, but you are just SO damned politically out of it, I feel forced to now.

I have no doubt in my mind that Herman Cain is a good man. OTOH, he is completely unvetted and nobody has any idea what lies buried in his closet!

He has never held any elected office and the ONLY stab he made to do so, before, he managed to LOSE at the primary stage. He has less than NO skills at running a major campaign and it shows.

I want to know who can up with that dreadful 999 thing, which he has yet to fully go into and which, should he actually be president, has absolutely NO chance whatsoever of EVER being implemented.

He went into this whole thing completely unprepared and not up on current events.

We've already got a president who has to learn on the job ( and hasn't done so much to get up to speed, though he knew more than Cain does ); we don't need another one, who has even less knowledge of how our government works, or doesn't!

At least with Ike, the entire GOP machine behind him, he was given lots of help with who to choose for judges, the Cabinet, etc.! Cain? AGAIN,WHO ARE HIS ADVISERS AND WHO IS GIVING HIM THE INSIDE SKINNY?

Blacks will NOT evenly break for him, just because he's black and a more authentic one than Obama.

And the above was treading ever so lightly; though I'm sure you won't think so. I could have been much more brutal and the Dems and the MSM surely will be!

How would you rate the field?

Maybe Perry, Bachmann, Cain, Santorum, Gingrich?

Right now I think you should take a step back and look at this in a different light when you calm down. You sound like someone died in your family. You had your heart broken like the rest of us, but most of us are not lashing out at her like she is the enemy.

I have some misgivings about Herman Cain, and I am very unhappy with all the other candidates except Santorum. The problem is that these idiots think that any goofball off the street could beat Bummer so they have more bravado than they should have.

She has always had to face the scum from both Parties, but you know all that, and she is not a Robot.

I am excited now about how much damage that SP can do to the Libs in the Republican Party, and the payback she is going to have against the Army of Trash that is the Rat party.

Do not feel like she plotted to screw you over, you know better than that.

We need to let SP know what our issues are, and she will bring them to the forefront. The Media will still listen, and she will not be taking prisoners.
