Republican presidential candidate Rick Perry appears to have raised more money than his GOP rivals in the first six weeks of his campaign, suggesting that the Texas governor remains competitive despite a series of major stumbles that have hurt his standing in the race.

Perry's campaign said it will report raising at least $17 million during the fundraising quarter that ended in September, an unexpectedly strong total that is likely to put him ahead of Mitt Romney and other GOP candidates for the same period. Perry did not announce his candidacy until mid-August, giving him half as much time as his rivals to raise that total.

President Obama, who ranks as the preeminent fundraiser in U.S. political history, is expected to report raising about $55 million in the third quarter

His debate performance apparently didn’t bother his contributors.

His debate performance apparently didn’t bother his contributors.

That is because:

1) It was not a debate.

2) Nobody actually watched it.

I agree with you, because those were not actually debates. I watched them, but few others bothered.

That is good news. I expect Perry to win this thing. My hope is that he picks another governor for his VP. Perhaps Scott Walker.

The real truth is that there are two Republican Partys, the DC party which I call the establishment and then there are the Governors. Look at our recent losers, Dole (Senate), McCain (Senate), Bush (House), Ford (House) look at our recent winners Reagan, GWB.

The governors know how to run things as executives, how to deal with houses of Congress and how to get things done.

yep.

...some people with LOTS of money, really want Perry.

but since the polls show his support among people calling themselves “Tea Party” supports, and dropped TREMENDOUSLY,
you can bet, that money is NOT coming from regular tea party conservatives.

...so, WHO has the big bucks that wants Perry so bad,
even as he falls so badly and quickly in Tea Party polls ?

i’m sure it’s just rich civic minded conservatives.
not big government establishment types...

Not really debates. They consisted more of gotchas than anything else.

Like he used 400 million of our tax dollars here in Texas to secure the US international border with Mexico?

I am a political junkie and I didn't watch them. They are an utter waste of time with each candidate being given just enough time to stick their foot in their mouth and feed the MSM with soundbites to destroy them the next day.

A real debate has one or two questions or premises and then the participants are given plenty of opportunity to make their positions clear. And all the participants know in advance what the question or questions will be.

I contributed to Perry the first time last Friday. I simply do not want to see Romney as the nominee. Cain is fake and he is working as an attack dog for Romney against Perry as it is so obvious from the facts on the ground. Cain is working to be Romney VP.

Therefore at the end between Perry and Romney and I am with Perry till the end and until victory.

Get it right my fellow deer hunter. Illegals do not get college tuition. Texas residents who were born to illegals who live and go to school in Texas pay their own way at in state rates.

You charge me and a son of an illegal the same price to go to Wisconsin, right? By the way I am promoting a Perry/Walker ticket.

No, they want Romney.
FTA -Romney’s people are bragging about all the big money people that were urging Christie
are now getting behind Romney.
“....“dozens” of bundlers have signed up with the campaign, pledging to raise $100,000 or more,
since Christie’s announcement.”
Including the founder of Home Depot.
“The money guys — I’m not going to say they’ll
start pouring in for Romney, but they’re moving there in a
pretty steady flow for him.”

“A fool and his money are easily parted” This guy is burnt Taco. At his ranch named “Ni$$erhead” he is finished but worst of all he was giving fee breaks at colleges to illegal aliens. This before we get to “pay for play” like his biggest contributor in Houston. Perry is no good. We are raising Cain!!
