WASHINGTON U.S. Rep. Jesse Jackson Jr., D-Ill., called on House Democrats Tuesday at a closed Democratic Caucus meeting to approve a resolution critical of Texas Gov. Rick Perry for not having removed a racially offensive slur from a rock at his familys hunting camp.
The racially charged name of the site, "N head," was first reported in a Washington Post story Sunday.
The Perry presidential campaign disputed the account and said the rock with the offensive word at the entrance of the leased hunting area in Throckmorton County, Texas, had been painted over at Perrys instruction in the early 1980s. The Post story cited seven people who had seen it and said the word was visible, even after it was painted over with white paint, as recently as this summer.
Jackson circulated a draft resolution Tuesday among Democratic members that condemns Perry and calls on him and all other GOP candidates who havent apologized, to do so. A Democratic staffer made a copy of the draft resolution available to McClatchy Newspapers.
GOP candidate Herman Cain, who is African-American, was sharply critical of Perry on Sunday talk shows for being "insensitive" on race.
Jackson spokesman Frank Watkins said that the lawmaker, the son of activist Rev. Jesse Jackson, made a case for a privileged resolution on the House floor condemning the Texas governor for tolerating the offensive word.
"He felt all Americans were offended by this," said Watkins. "They listened very carefully. There was rapt attention."
Perry spokesman Mark Miner said of Jackson, "This sounds like nothing more than a political ploy by someone who doesnt have all the facts."

I could be wrong. The polls will tell some, but national polls aren’t as important as state polls in a presidential election.
Good, because Perry was a democrat at the time.
Its a gotcha moment that is having effect and as long as it continues to have effect it will be kept alive by Perrys opponents both republican and democratic.

You think so? And how well did this “gotcha moment” work out for Herman Cain?
Not very well, since he has been walking back his idiot comments since he made them.
Cain stumbled on this issue.
I’m quite sure he was in the forefront of the demonstrations against Robert Byrd when he used the word live on a Sunday news show. No, a Republican painting over the word 30 years earlier is somehow more disturbing.
Obama and his base won’t be happy until there is a full fledged race war.
They KNOW Perry is the “uniter” that Obama is NOT.
The Left knows if Perry gets in (and his coattails will be huge) that the GOP will fill with new members from all the traditionally “secure” identity groups the progressives have been nurturing and knock the Democratic Party and socialism off it’s feet for generations (if not forever but they always come back).
You don’t think Hispanics get preferences at Texas state colleges? What are you smoking there at your keyboard this morning?
Jesse, Jesse, Jesse!....always johnny-on-the-spot! Poverty pimp and race baiter supreme! This ghetto hack has done nothing for blacks in America! Always playing the victim game and acting like the slave ships are still arriving daily from Africa! He feeds off of fear and insecurity. He is a horrible con artist.
I don’t think so, but time will tell which of us is right.
When so many people are telling us that Perry campaign is finished we still see that the left and many on the right are still obsessed with attacking Perry and smearing him 24/7. Why is that? Well the answer is pretty obvious.
Why do you think it’s okay to just flat out lie about things?
What am I lying about? Are you going to tell me that Texas state colleges are what would be the only schools in the nation not to give preferences to Hispanics?
The dems are abandoning Obama. We need a strong candidate like Perry to take on whichever leftist clintoon fool they throw out there to challenge Obama.Obama’s Has fast and furious and solyandragreenSlushFundsGate problems to face.He will have to bow out or go to impeachment trial bottom line. The dems know if they stand behind the radical they will all lose they’re party and jobs for many years to come.

IF you can’t raise the money, you have no chance whatsoever to win the nomination and especially the presidency. Raising money is the 2nd most important factor when running for President. And smart donors look at that FIRST.
Grasping at straws to keep a non story a story.
Perry’s not my guy because as this shows, he’s just not very bright. That said, this doesn’t even approach the level of bigotry that Obama has exibited, running around with the Black Panthers and Rashid Khalidi.
I found your hat.
Go to post #54 to claim it.
Are you two friends of Jesse and the family?
