Cain Gets Slammed for Telling Perry N-Word Not Cool in Modern World
Townhall.com ^ | October 4, 2011 | Crystal Wright

Posted on 10/04/2011 10:44:12 AM PDT by Kaslin

Someone told me recently she liked reading my blog but it seemed like everything I wrote about was race. I guess I’m going to live up to that person’s perception today. Admittedly, I write from the perspective of a black woman, so I can’t help notice these type of stories. For the record, the purpose of my blog is to educate people on politics, awaken black liberals to a new way of thinking and encourage people to vote based on issues not party.

I don’t intentionally sit down at the key board each week itching to write about the intersection of politics and race, but it seems there is always a politically racial story staring and at times smacking me in the face. Like today, when the only black Republican presidential candidate Herman Cain said it was "insulting" for Governor Rick Perry and his family to lease a hunting camp in Texas known as “Niggerhead.”

This racist word used to describe blacks is emblazoned on a rock prominently situated at a gated entrance to the camp. The Washington Post broke the story, detailing how the rock has been painted over, turned over but not removed since Perry’s father and later the governor himself began leasing the spot in 1983.

Cain condemned Perry for being associated with such a word, saying on This Week:

"Since Gov. Perry has been going there for years to hunt, I think that it shows a lack of sensitivity for a long time of not taking that word off of that rock and renaming the place. . . .Yes, it was painted over. But how long ago was it painted over? So I'm still saying that it is a sign of insensitivity."

One would think conservatives, including those who call themselves Republicans like me and Tea Party Patriots, would be applauding Cain’s response. After all, many of these same conservatives have said they whole hearted support of Cain as a candidate has nothing to do with the color of his skin but his positions on ALL issues, one would assume they would be supportive of Cain’s position on racial equality and inclusion.

So, you can surmise I was surprised when people on my tweeter stream turned on Cain, blasting him for “using the race card.” Yes, these good PATRIOTS who supported Cain were now defending Perry’s complicit endorsement of the use of the N-word by not removing the ugly rock form the camp site.

One true patriot tweeted: "Turns out Cain is no different than members of Congressional Black Caucus. He should apologize to Governor Perry #tcot #teaparty #Perry2012"

But the tweets below are worse and demonstrate conservative voters need to come to grips with the reality that we live in the 21st century where there is no place for the word nigger in the American discourse nor should it be associated with any presidential candidate who actually wants to win in 2012.

"Herman Cain playing the race card on Rick Perry will end the Cain campaign. And it was totally unnecessary, too. WaPo carrying that water" said one tweet.

"@TheHermanCain Sorry you have turned out to be just another race baiter. Thought we were trying to get rid of that stuff. Thks, but no thks" said another tweet.

"@impoTex @TheHermanCain The GOP cand. should renounce this kind of slanderous reporting. Mr Cain I have lost respect for you, fueling this" another tweet reads.

It truly boggles the mind how some conservatives can support Cain in one breath because he’s got winning solutions then dump their support for him and unfollow him in seconds because he stands up against racial hate. Apparently, talking about race as a conservative candidate is taboo. You can’t mention it PERIOD, even when it’s slapping you in your face.

Does the GOP want to win in 2012 or become known as party of hate? Ask yourself and change that tune, please! This is exactly what the GOP doesn't need right now. It won't endear voters to us in 2012. Excelsior Herman Cain!

I asked what you meant, and you finally stated it clearly. Thank you for getting there.....even if it took you 3 posts to communicate clearly.

So....."the damage has been done." By whom? To whom? About what?

This was a shameless attempt to smear BOTH Perry and Cain. So the "damage" has been done to Cain? To Perry? To common sense? To rational thought?

What "damage" has been done?

btw, I think Perry and Cain both disagree with you, but what the hey? They're only the actual candidates involved in this shameless leftist ploy....

Missed it by a mile. I wouldn’t vote for Paul if he were the last Republican standing. I =did= like Cain, I do like Perry, and I’d vote for Palin if she entered the race. I won’t vote for Romney, or Huntsman, or Gingrich.

You =didn't= like Cain much if you've dumped him for this perceived slight of your sensibilities.

Other than that, I'm not far from you on the rest.

Huntsman and Gingrich don't have a prayer. If Romney wins then, one way or the other, you'll be voting for a second term for Obama?

Remember Romney will be running against a Black Man - a person that Romney grew up believing was not worthy of the priesthood and who has been carrying the Divine curse of a dark skin.

And not only "grew up" -- but Romney turned age 30 before the change was made. Its one thing to have a belief as a child or teen, but Romney's moral compass -- (as were other Lds adults pre-1978) -- was AWOL for a dozen years!

That ain't gonna sell in Peoria. Perry is getting attacked because of some letters on a rock that was painted over in 1983. In 1978 the Mormon Church was still teaching that Blacks were black because they were cursed by God and that Hispanics were dark because they were cursed by God. Toss in a few quotes from Brigham Young and Romney will be history within 2 weeks of the time he gets the nomination. The media will just pretend they are only now learning this stuff. But if a racially insensitive rock can make the news 30 years after it was painted over, how is a 130 year history of racism by the LDS Church going to play when that wasn't painted over until 1978. By then Romney was a high mucky-muck in the LDS Church. He preached that crap until 1978. How is he going to get around that when the media unloads it's race war on Romney?

Excellet analysis, P-Marlowe.

“lots of documentation.”

I understand your concerns but it really doesn't make any difference.

Did Sarah Palin say she could see Russia from her house, did she divorce Todd, was she mentally unstable, did she buy $500,000 worth of clothes, did she do lines of cocaine, did she claim Trigg as her child even though Bristol was really the mother?

There was no documentation but it doesn't matter, Sarah Palin was continually attacked until her approval ratings dropped.

Harry Reid is a Mormon. So is Huntsman. You can't assume the MSM will attack one candidate and go easy on another candidate.

Find the person who is best able to repair the damage that the Obama Administration has done and don't let the MSM put you on the defensive.

“This was a shameless attempt to smear BOTH Perry and Cain.”

No it wasn't. It was a shameless attempt to smear Perry.

Herman Cain had the opportunity to be a stand up guy and condemn the Washington Post and the MSM for its false accusations and attempt to promote racial animosity. He didn't.

Instead he tried to curry favor with the slimeballs in the MSM and mouth politically correct words like “lack of sensitivity”. This is despicable and cowardly.

If Herman Cain won't stand up against lies and unfair accusations he doesn't have the character to be president.

If Romney wins then, one way or the other, you'll be voting for a second term for Obama?

Romney has NO candidate viability in the general election. He’s dead in the water. The media will be merciless pitting Obama as one “subject to racism” vs. Romney, who as a 30 yo attended a church that was still openly racist at that time [denied blacks priesthood holder status].

That being the reality, why would any GOP or Independent voter want to vote for an unviable candidate who can't win? (That's called throwing away your vote)

First of all there's never only a "binary" choice. (There's ALWAYS a third-party vote if the GOP slits its own throat...or aren't you aware that the Whigs are no longer around & a new party called the GOP arose in the mid-1850s?)

We need peripheral vision...elsewise, if we're only beholden to the current campaign, people would vote for a Hitler type in a nanosecond if a worst evil candidate was running vs. him.

Take the biggest "loser" of a GOP candidate...say a pro-abort, pro-national healthcare, pro-homosexual candidate. Guess what? If you vote for such a candidate, you've wasted your vote. He will lose. Voting for a losing candidate -- even by people who think in your terms -- is indeed a wasted vote...which I thought was anathema to FREEPERS like you.

(And so what if Romney can garner up to 10% or so more than a third-party candidate…If you lose a football game, 46-29, why is that so much better than losing a football game 46-16 or 46-19?)

So why would you waste your vote on a candidate you know will lose -- and taint your convictions & conscience in the process? And stab the GOP party in the back at the same time?

As for voting for the “lesser evil,” No. I wouldn't vote for Hitler in the 1930s Germany even if he were running vs. the anti-Christ.

...there's a clear line in the sand. When the wife of a 40-yo marriage no longer sits in the middle portion of the seat of a pick-up truck, who moved?

We're not pushing the exit button; if the GOP decides to do that by electing Romney, they've exited and are threatening the entire party with Whigism.

At that point, should it occur, the GOP needs to clearly understand the true meaning of a "wasted vote." Too many GOPers in that circumstance would be tempted to think voting Third Party is a "wasted vote."

Allow me to be clear: Voting for Romney or a RINO is not only a wasted vote, but it's a vote for implosion of the GOP. It would be like planting extinction yeast in its very midst!

The GOP's already been guilty of tolerating too much moral erosion under the guise of "Big Tentism"; it's on a perilous course of implosion if it thinks its base will tolerate this.

We're not going to stand idly by when the RINOs attempts its GOP coups.

Cain has NOT used the RACE CARD!

Just watched the interview, I humbly disagree.

Cain disappoints me here, and I was leaning voting his way given the current field. I am now back to neutral.

Yes Cain did. He said it to Chris Wallace. He played the race card, which was not needed.

Perry was factual. Perry did not own the property, and only paid to hunt there. In fact, he has not been there for 4 years. Perry did not paint the word on the rock, it was painted and turned over 30 years ago. This is a hit piece by the WP and Townhall is spreading more incorrect information.

Perry is getting attacked because of some letters on a rock that was painted over in 1983.

"You see some classes of the human family that are black, uncouth, uncomely, disagreeable and low in their habits, wild, and seemingly deprived of nearly all the blessings of the intelligence that is generally bestowed upon mankind.

The first man that committed the odious crime of killing one of his brethren will be cursed the longest of any one of the children of Adam. Cain slew his brother. Cain might have been killed, and that would have put a termination to that line of human beings.

This was not to be, and the Lord put a mark upon him, which is the flat nose and black skin. Trace mankind down to after the flood, and then another curse is pronounced upon the same race--that they should be the 'servant of servants', and they will be, until that curse is removed."

Brigham Young-President and second 'Prophet' of the Mormon Church, 1844-1877- Extract from Journal of Discourses.

Here are two examples from their 'other testament', the Book of Mormon.

2 Nephi 5: 21 'And he had caused the cursing to come upon them, yea, even a sore cursing, because of their iniquity. For behold, they had hardened their hearts against him, that they had become like unto a flint; wherefore, as they were white, and exceedingly fair and delightsome, that they might not be enticing unto my people, the Lord God did cause a skin of blackness to come upon them.'

Alma 3: 6 'And the skins of the Lamanites were dark, according to the mark which was set upon their fathers, which was a curse upon them because of their transgression and their rebellion against their brethren, who consisted of Nephi, Jacob and Joseph, and Sam, who were just and holy men.'

August 27, 1954 in an address at Brigham Young University (BYU), Mormon Elder, Mark E Peterson, in speaking to a convention of teachers of religion at the college level, said:

"The discussion on civil rights, especially over the last 20 years, has drawn some very sharp lines. It has blinded the thinking of some of our own people, I believe. They have allowed their political affiliations to color their thinking to some extent.I think I have read enough to give you an idea of what the Negro is after."

"He is not just seeking the opportunity of sitting down in a cafe where white people eat. He isn't just trying to ride on the same streetcar or the same Pullman car with white people. It isn't that he just desires to go to the same theater as the white people. From this, and other interviews I have read, it appears that the Negro seeks absorption with the white race. He will not be satisfied until he achieves it by intermarriage."

"That is his objective and we must face it. We must not allow our feelings to carry us away, nor must we feel so sorry for Negroes that we will open our arms and embrace them with everything we have. Remember the little statement that we used to say about sin, 'First we pity, then endure, then embrace'...."

(Rosa Parks would have probably told Petersen under which wheel of the bus he should go sit.)

1967, (then) Mormon President Ezra Taft Benson said,

"The Communist program for revolution in America has been in progress for many years and is far advanced. First of all, we must not place the blame upon Negroes. They are merely the unfortunate group that has been selected by professional Communist agitators to be used as the primary source of cannon fodder."

We are told that on June 8, 1978, it was 'revealed' to the then president, Spencer Kimball, that people of color could now gain entry into the priesthood.

According to the church, Kimball spent many long hours petitioning God, begging him to give worthy black people the priesthood. God finally relented.

Sometime before the 'revelation' came to chief 'Prophet' Spencer Kimball in June 1978, General Authority, Bruce R McConkie had said:

"The Blacks are denied the Priesthood; under no circumstances can they hold this delegation of authority from the Almighty.

The Negroes are not equal with other races where the receipt of certain blessings are concerned, particularly the priesthood and the temple blessings that flow there from, but this inequality is not of man's origin, it is the Lord's doings."

(Mormon Doctrine, pp. 526-527).

When Mormon 'Apostle' Mark E Petersen spoke on 'Race Problems- As they affect the Church' at the BYU campus in 1954, the following was also said:

"...if the negro accepts the gospel with real, sincere faith, and is really converted, to give him the blessings of baptism and the gift of the Holy Ghost, he can and will enter the celestial kingdom. He will go there as a servant, but he will get celestial glory."

When Mormon 'Prophet' and second President of the Church, Brigham Young, spoke in 1863 the following was also said:

"Shall I tell you the law of God in regard to the African race? If the white man who belongs to the chosen seed mixes his blood with the seed of Cain, the penalty, under the law of God is death on the spot. This will always be so."

(Journal of Discourses, Vo. 10, p. 110)

Yeah; Native Americans are althroughout the Book of MORMON; too.

“I saw a striking contrast in the progress of the Indian people today ... they are fast becoming a white and delightsome people.... For years they have been growing delightsome, and they are now becoming white and delightsome, as they were promised.... The children in the home placement program in Utah are often lighter than their brothers and sisters in the hogans on the reservation.

At one meeting a father and mother and their sixteen-year-old daughter were present, the little member girl-sixteen-sitting between the dark father and mother, and it was evident she was several shades lighter than her parents—on the same reservation, in the same hogan, subject to the same sun and wind and weather.... These young members of the Church are changing to whiteness and to delightsomeness.

One white elder jokingly said that he and his companion were donating blood regularly to the hospital in the hope that the process might be accelerated.

(Improvement Era, December 1960, pp.922-23). (p. 209)

Like today, when the only black Republican presidential candidate Herman Cain said it was "insulting" for Governor Rick Perry and his family to lease a hunting camp in Texas known as “Niggerhead.”

The term was once widely used for all sorts of things, including products such as soap and chewing tobacco, but most often for geographic features such as hills and rocks and geological objects (usually geodes).[1][2] In the U.S., more than a hundred "Niggerheads" and other place names now considered racially offensive were changed in 1962 by the U.S. Board on Geographic Names, but many local names remained unchanged.[3]

I have yet to hear Romney condemn his church for any of this.

"Any Latter-day Saint who denounces or opposes, whether actively or otherwise, any plan or doctrine advocated by the 'prophets, seers, and revelators' of the Church is cultivating the spirit of apostacy..."
(Improvement Era, June 1945, p. 354)

Reinforced here......

MP3 File

This is the audio clip of Dallin H. Oaks, current Mormon Apostle leader, from the PBS documentary, "The Mormons", declaring unequivocally:

"IT'S WRONG TO CRITICIZE LEADERS OF THE (MORMON) CHURCH, EVEN IF THE CRITICISM IS TRUE."

Don't criticize?

And here:

Temple Recommend Questions:

1 Do you have faith in and a testimony of God the Eternal Father, His Son Jesus Christ, and the Holy Ghost?

2 Do you have a testimony of the Atonement of Christ and of His role as Savior and Redeemer?

3 Do you have a testimony of the restoration of the gospel in these the latter days?

4 Do you sustain the President of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints as the Prophet, Seer, and Revelator and as the only person on the earth who possesses and is authorized to exercise all priesthood keys? Do you sustain members of the First Presidency and the Quorum of the Twelve Apostles as prophets, seers, and revelators? Do you sustain the other General Authorities and local authorities of the Church?

5 Do you live the law of chastity?

6 Is there anything in your conduct relating to members of your family that is not in harmony with the teachings of the Church?

7 Do you support, affiliate with, or agree with any group or individual whose teachings or practices are contrary to or oppose those accepted by the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints?

8 Do you strive to keep the covenants you have made, to attend your sacrament and other meetings, and to keep your life in harmony with the laws and commandments of the gospel?

9 Are you honest in your dealings with your fellowmen?

10 Are you a full-tithe payer?

11 Do your keep the Word of Wisdom?

12 Do you have financial or other oblgations to a former spouse or children? If yes, are you current in meeting those obligations?

13 If you have previously received your temple endowment:

Do you keep the covenants that you made in the temple?

Do you wear the garment both night and day as instructed in the endowment and in accordance with the covenant you made in the temple?

14 Have there been any sins or misdeeds in your life that should have been resolved with priesthood authorities but have not been?

15 Do you consider yourself worthy to enter the Lord's house and participate in temple ordinances?

Oh, they can say that their leaders were NOT speaking for GOD when they said    WHATEVER    but that's NOT the same as criticizing!

( Remember fellow Christians:  the Mormon's criticize US because they've been taught that they CAN'T criticize ANY of their leaders; so they HAVE to vent somehow! )
