Can Perry Put His Hunting Camp Problem Behind Him? (They want to HEAR him deny it)
Real Clear Politics ^ | October 4, 2011 | Erin McPike

.....In fact, “disqualifying” was the word that MSNBC anchor and former GOP Rep. Joe Scarborough used Monday morning to describe the matter. Mitt Romney called it “offensive.”

And rival Herman Cain said in a Sunday appearance on ABC: “My reaction is that word is very insensitive. There are some words that do not basically inspire the kind of negativity like that particular word.” He went on to say that since Perry did not stop traveling to the camp to hunt, it shows a lack of sensitivity. On Monday, Cain took a different tone, saying it’s time to put the matter to bed and move on.

For many influential political leaders, what may dog Perry is his own reaction. They complain that he has not addressed the issue publicly, in person, communicating only via written statements. Al Sharpton said Monday on his MSNBC show that he’s counting down the time until Perry speaks about it.

......It is too early to tell, of course, whether the issue will doom Perry’s candidacy; it may depend on whether there are further revelations indicating that Perry did too little to address racism in his community, or if he contributed to it. Lengthy follow-ups to Virginia Sen. George Allen’s “macaca” comment -- the racially offensive term was aimed at an Asian-American volunteer for his opponent, Democrat Jim Webb -- ultimately led to his re-election loss in 2006, as a series of stories in the media revealed allegations that Allen had used racist slurs before.

So far, there is nothing to suggest Perry has actually done anything wrong is this matter -- or anything else. But to some, his silence now is problematic....

This short edit of a very long RCP article is a good example of how LIBERALS assail someone's character by turning them into prey to be chased down -- the following is from a site explaining this method attributed to LBJ and is posted on the net

Quote:

[“There is a story in politics, commonly attributed to Lyndon B. Johnson, about how LBJ wanted to circulate a rumor attacking his opponent in a Texas election. Johnson, it's said, wanted to spread the story that his opponent liked to have sex with barnyard animals. One of LBJ's aides said, "We can't prove he's a pig f----r."

"I know that," replied Johnson. "I just want to hear him deny it."

”Rush Limbaugh was detained for several hours at the Palm Beach airport yesterday for having non-prescription Viagra (and maybe some other stuff as well, it's not clear). He was returning from the Dominican Republic, a popular "sex tourism" destination where rich white men can have sex with underaged, desperate, sex-slave Dominican girls. Putting two and two together, I wonder: is that why Pigboy was down there, committing legal rape with the help of his non-scrip ED medicine?

I can't prove it. I just want to hear him deny it.”] - End

Not a Perry supporter, but I'm so damn sick of the biased media in this country playing gotcha with anyone on our side over any little thing. Meanwhile they have their heads so far up Obama's a## it's just pathetic.

I swear, he could take out a gun and shoot someone on the WH lawn and they'd overlook it.

Saw some dopey posts on the NY Times website yesterday regarding the hunting camp rock. One dope wrote, “I don’t know whether to be more offended by the “n” word or that Perry is a hunter.”

This is all they’ve got? I believe the rest of the country has moved on. Honestly, grasping for straws here. A smidgen of journalistic investigating (as in a google search) will see that the governor addressed this days if not weeks ago. And he and his family resolved the original issue nearly 20 years ago!

I wouldn’t give them the time of day...and no other candidate should let themselves be baited into responding to it, either. It’s done, over, kaput.

Nobody cares what you think Benedict Scarborough.

On the other hand let's get this all cleared up now and not have some October 2012 surprise.

It's amazing how much traction this non-story has received.

Let me see if I understand this. Perry's family leased some land for hunting on thousands of acres. There happened to be a rock on this land that had an offensive word painted on it. This now becomes Perry's responsibility? Are these people serious?

If someone rents a hotel room at a particular hotel, and somewhere in the bowels of the building there is an offensive term written on a wall. This is somehow a reflection on the person who rented a hotel room in that building?

Notice how much attention is being focused on this non-event as compared to the way the media tried to gloss over the fact that obama sat in a church for 20+ years listening to racist vitriol from a hateful bigoted 'preacher'. Obama simply denied hearing anything of that nature and the media turned it around so that anyone who dared to bring up this fact was 'racist' for doing so. Somehow I doubt that the media will do anything of the sort for Perry.

Can Perry Put His Hunting Camp Problem Behind Him?

It's only a problem to those who would never consider voting for Perry to begin with.

THIS IS WHAT NEEDS TO HAPPEN:

Beating the Racism Card [snip] ...."This tells us how to handle these accusations. You don't go along with the script. The script is there to humiliate and destroy, and that is all. Instead, you defy it. Stand up to the accusers and run them off. Since their only power comes from numbers, use numbers against them. The next time an attack occurs during this campaign (as it inevitably will, and probably aimed at Perry), all the candidates must stand as one against the accusers. (All except Huntsman, of course, who might be making the accusation.) The candidates, through public media statements, must make clear their full support of the intended victim. No weasel-wording, no equivocation, no ambiguity. A general statement, signed by all of them, should then be released, presenting a succinct and logical argument as to why such accusations are unacceptable, with each swearing that he or she will stand by the others in any such situation, and ending with a condemnation by name of the accuser.

This can be taken further by conservative columnists, bloggers, and talk-show hosts. The accuser(s) should be keelhauled. The goal will be to make them as miserable as they intended their victims to be, which would act as a form of aversion therapy, forcing them to think twice and then three times about ever pulling the same trick again. (Need I add that the process would also prove valuable in cases involving Congress, industry, state politicians, media, and anywhere else such accusations may arise?)

What will happen is that the accusers will retreat. They are bullies, and that is what bullies do. (Even Andre Carson, a blowhard and loudmouth of the first order, has thought better of his "lynching" comment.) The media will give the GOP candidates all the publicity any pol could want. The GOP voters will go wild. Any further accusations will be unlikely, a benefit to all candidates equally. It would mean a cleaner campaign, an easier victory, and who knows? Perhaps even a step toward a more civil society.

For too long, too many blacks have wallowed in their own private sumps of self-pity, collapsing into whimpers every time somebody mentions blackmail, blackouts, or black markets. It's a pathetic epilogue to the heroism and grandeur of the civil rights movement. It's past time this adolescent posturing was put aside.

It will take some effort to accomplish this. (We'll refer only to the fact that the current incumbent has made no such effort whatsoever.) But the black grievance-hunters are no better than the Dixiecrats of old, using the same methods to keep Americans on edge, in fear, and overcome with anxiety. Using racism for political gain is a cheap and coarse tactic no matter who is involved. It needs to be ended."

I’d like to hear Mitt Romney deny that while governor of Massachusetts he NEVER entered the Boston Public Library, where it is KNOWN that there are books by MARK TWAIN that contain the “N” word.
What we have is the racists indignantly playing the RACE CARD. The POT is calling the KETTLE a very, very dark hue.

Eh, I’m much more concerned about Perry’s position on illegal immigration than I am about an “insensitive” word painted on a rock.

Since you know of Gov. Perry’s concerted efforts to get federal help on the border, drones, boots, fencing in urban areas and that he wants the border sealed and doesn’t believe in amnesty — you might want to be concerned about something else.

“It’s amazing how much traction this non-story has received.”

The left is expert at taking out promising Republican candidates by hyping irrelevant nonsense. They took out Allen costing the Repubs the senate. They took out Whitman over a phony maid story. Hell look at what they have done to Palin. These attacks are purposeful attempts by the media to destroy good candidates who have done NOTHING WRONG. If RAT candidates were held to the same standard there would NONE left.
