I hear Mitt Romney today bring up the issue of trade problems with China. Little noted GOP presidential candidate Buddy Roemer has pointed out that we need protective tariffs against goods produced in countries with substandard wages, lousy working conditions and poor health provisions. Now Romney is talking about the same issue. I think this was one cause of the failure of Silyndra solar.

I swear, I think liberals are Martians that some say are ‘out there’ or obsessed - they have a block which truth cannot penetrate.

“AT THIS LATE STAGE, it’s become impossible not to understand that time has all but run out on potential last-minute candidates—except for those with universal name ID, massive fundraising potential, and a plausible path to the nomination. “

Palin definitely has the first 2 covered. You probably know better than me if she has the 3rd.

This is Sarah Palin’s moment.

She is our Esther.

She was born for such a time as this.

She knows the peril we face as a nation.

We need someone who is not afraid of taking on the corruption in DC in BOTH parties.

I’ll work for her, and I’ll crawl over broken glass to vote for her if I must.

And there are tens of millions like me.

The reign of Obama must be over on January 20, 2013 at noon.

No one can accomplish that except Sarah Palin.

God help us if she is not our candidate. The Obama and Dem machines will make mincemeat of anyone else.

And any true conservative knows this is the truth.

This guy is obviously following a script with this drivel, however, this bit:

Palin has long been written off as a possible 2012 candidate by pundits who look at her terrible general-election poll ratings and her questionable work ethic and conclude her chronic refusal to rule out a run is no more than a ruse to keep her name in the news. She hasn’t made any effort to put together a skeleton organization or to sustain any sort of continuous presence in national political discourse. But throughout the “invisible primary,” Palin has consistently said that if she wanted to, she could run the kind of wildly unconventional campaign that makes polling, organization, and the attitudes of elites completely irrelevant. It is perhaps worth considering the possibility that she believes what she is saying.

does have the required 'grain of truth' that could bend the mind of the as yet uncommitted.

Gosh, who knew that a woman who ran a fishing business, was mayor of her town, was governor of her state, ran for vice president of the United States, wrote a book, campaigned around the country for Republican congressional candidates, conducted a cross-country bus tour and starred in an outdoors-themed television series, all while raising her children, has a “questionable work ethic”?

The things I learn from The New Republic!

I respect and admire Sarah Palin and support whatever she wants to do.

To me, she is, quite simply, a force of nature. Even writing short statements for Facebook, she shapes opinions and gets people thinking and talking. The force is strong with this one...

I've never seen anything like the attention she gets, good and bad, other than maybe for Elvis or when the Beatles first came to America. Quite astonishing, really.

I don't know if she is playing a waiting game or has no intention of getting in the race, but if she's letting the clock run out a bit before she gets in, then she's every bit as smart and politically savvy as I think she is.

To all things, there is a season...

If we speak of "work ethic" what shall we say of Teh One?

Golf on Martha's Vineyard after demanding Congress come back and work on a jobs bill?

Can someone photoshop Obama's sour puss onto this picture?

Cheers!

I hope she’s ready to jump in and that it’s the right time. The GOP field is still scattered, with no clear front runner, just a trend to follow the next “not Romney”. If she can unite the party, it’s time to find out. If she can’t (which would surprise me), then it’s also time to find out so that her supporters can commit to a different conservative, one who can and will stop Romney.

“In other words, these are not people obsessed with ‘electability,’ or who give much credence to current polls showing Obama actually leading every named GOP candidate other than (occasionally) Romney. They want a conservative champion, and with anti-Washington and anti-politician sentiments at all time highs, maybe even somewhat a bit ‘mavericky.’”

My goodness he describes me accurately. I am not worried or interested (per se) in “electibility.” I am more concerned with principle. That is why I still stick with Bachmann as my choice of the declared candidates. It is also why I will probably switch to Palin if she declares.

The way I see it is that conservatism will be destroyed if a Romney or Christie get elected. They are “perceived” as conservative by the ill informed. In the same way Mormonism is psuedo-Christianity...these types are psuedo-Conservatism. They are actually more of a long term threat than Obama. Now, I WILL NEVER support of vote for Obama. However, I will never vote for a Romney or Christie, even in a general election, anymore than I would Obama. There is no lesser of two evils in those cases.

So, I welcome a Palin candidancy....however if she doesn't run I will give my vote, however futile, to Bachmann in the primary.....and if a “Romney” gets the GOP nod, then I will vote third party or leave that part of the ballot blank.

Ronald Reagan once said (paraphrase) about his becoming a Republican....”I didn't leave the Democratic Party, it left me.” I became a republican in heart when President Reagan was in office. If the party continues to leave or ignore its base...then it has left me and I won't support it.

Isn't that the truth?

Personally, I found Mr. Kilgore's naivete' (ignorance?) somewhat charming.

I guess it's us Rubes versus them Sophisticates...
