The push by the Iranian government to execute a Christian pastor is accelerating. Iranian state news is spreading false reports that Pastor Youcef Nadarkhani was not convicted of converting from Islam to Christianity, but is instead charged with Zionism and security-related crimes – the worst possible charge that can be leveled against someone in Iran.
News reports confirm that this is the charge used by Iran to carry out executions when Iran is facing international pressure. The ACLJ is continuing to work with Congressional leaders, the United Nations, international media, and Pastor Youcef’s attorney in Iran to pressure Iran for Pastor Youcef’s release.
Our efforts are having a tremendous impact, as Iran is now feeling this international pressure to release Pastor Youcef. However, it is critical that Secretary of State Clinton – America’s top international diplomat – do more than just say she is “concerned” about this impending execution. She must immediately call on Iran for Pastor Youcef’s unconditional release.
Please sign the Petition to Secretary of State Clinton - Call on Iran to save Christian pastor today. It is absolutely critical that your voice is heard on this issue. Keeping the international pressure – especially the full weight of the U.S. State Department – on Iran to release Pastor Youcef may be the only chance we have to save his life.
We will not only be sending this petition to Secretary of State Clinton but the United Nations as well, urging them to call out this most egregious human rights abuse and violation of Iran’s own constitution, in an effort to secure the release of Pastor Youcef.
While our contacts in Iran have been able to confirm, as of yesterday, that Pastor Youcef is still alive, it is becoming increasingly difficult to get word from Iran, and these new possible charges only make getting information out of Iran more difficult.
It is critical that we take immediate action to save this pastor’s life before it is too late.
Each time Pastor Youcef has been ordered to recant his faith, he has responded “[R]eturn to … the blasphemy that I had before my faith in Christ? I cannot.”

My Sunday School Class prayed for Youcef yesterday.
I pray for Youcef, but I have also signed the ACLJ petition. Something about not wanting to face my Lord and be asked “and what did you do?”
I was hoping, when they changed the charges, they were trying to find an out to acquit him but now I’m not sure.
obama regime wants LOVE, NOT WAR, w/ the mullahs. They want open fists and handshakes and grand bargains! These religious persecutions are nothing but collateral damage to the dems just like dead American border agents and dead American and Mexican civilian are just collateral damage.
Iran did back down with regards to those three hikers who were falsely accused of spying. Maybe they’ll back down this time or at least commute the sentence.
We need to pray for Youcef.
