This was a necessary move for Cain, but I agree with Robert Stacy McCain - Carmichael did a fantastic job as spokesperson for Cain.

Sounds like a well-organized campaign when someone ‘resigns’ and is immediately replaced.

In any case, Cain KNOWS how to run a ship...disorganization is for dunces like Perry.

” - - - Carmichael did a fantastic job as spokesperson for Cain. - - - “

I agree, Carmichael did her job very well, in fact better than her peers on a % gain by candidate basis.

Now is the time for phase two. Bigger target, bigger gun.

When Cain wins the Republican Nomination, the target will get even bigger. If J.D. Gordon is not a big enough gun then Cain will not hesitate to get a bigger gun.

Cain is exactly the objective-thinking businessman that we need to run the largest business that the world has ever known.

Lead, follow or get out of the way. Cain is leading, the followers are beginning to follow, and the Media had better get out of his way.

Career Debt-o-crats? Start looking for a real job in one of the industries that you have spent your sorry lives regulating, because when Cain takes over America’s economy will take off like a loaded spring!

She’s great. But as his campaign catches the’Big Mo’ and matures, Cain needs to upgrade from 3rd string to 1st string. Nothing personal. Its business. Its major league politics now. He has crossed the rubicom and needs seasoned firepower.

Cain admits he’s not as strong as he could be on foreign policy, and this looks like a great move to strengthen that area. Carmichael did a good job, but Gordon will bring needed experience to the campaign.

Gordon not only has a lot of experience, but probably has a lot of favors he can call in and strings he can pull, at this point in his career. Cain has a terrific message. At this point, he simply needs to be NOTICED by the general public. Hopefully Gordon is the guy who can do that. (And it sounds like Carmichael is moving UP the ladder, not down. Win/win for everyone.)

I have to wonder if Carmichael was given the choice to stay and work with Gordon? Often an enterprise as it grows needs more experienced folks, so they bring them in, give them a fancier title (and salary), and keep onboard the ones who started with them. Helpful to both. In this case it would give Carmichael some fantastic experience working with someone who’s been at the top of the field. I can’t imagine, tho, that her experience with Cain would hurt as she goes forward.

This is an interesting turn. He's definitely added a high profile spokesman.

Carmichael did well by Cain and Cain by Carmichael I'd say.

Based on the earlier CNN piece, I wondered if Carmichael and her assistant's departures would adversely effect the campaign. Clearly not.

Good article. It looks to me like she did a great job getting Herman Cain to where he is. I don’t read anything into her leaving, she’s got a very effective ‘add’ to her resume. And Herman Cain has also added an effective replacement. I see a win-win here.
