Obama to Republicans: On Jobs, What Are You for and Against?
abcnews.go.com ^

“Some Republicans in Congress have said that they agree with certain parts of this jobs bill.” Obama said. “If so, it’s time for them to tell me what those proposals are. And if they’re opposed to this jobs bill, I’d like to know what exactly they’re against. Are they against putting teachers and police officers and firefighters back on the job? Are they against hiring construction workers to rebuild our roads and bridges and schools? Are they against giving tax cuts to virtually every worker and small business in America?”

The Senate is expected to take up the bill next month and, while the president continues to urge Congress to pass the American Jobs Act in full, the White House has said Obama would accept a piecemeal approach to passing the legislation if Congress rejects the package in full.

“Economists from across the political spectrum have said that this jobs bill would boost the economy and spur hiring. Why would you be against that — especially at a time when so many Americans are struggling and out of work?” Obama asked.

But, the president argued that this “isn’t just about what I think is right. It’s not just about what a group of economists think is right,” it’s about what Americans want and need.

Question for Hussein: What did you do with the 800-odd billion dollars in “stimulus” you hijacked from the taxpayers in 2009? Account for that first, then you can ask your little questions.

President Obama, when the government creates jobs, they take money, ie. JOBS out of the private sector to do so.

Private industry does not do that.

If you wern’t a Socialist community agitator, you might understand this.

To begin with, the GOP should respond by reminding the Kenyan that paying the salaries of “teachers and police officers and firefighters” is not the federal government’s job.

Notice he is campaigning against the Republicans here. He is not trying to work with them.

This is campaign rhetoric, not leadership on the nations most crucial issue. It's pathetic.

I'm for following the specification for the constrained purpose of American governance:

TO SECURE THESE RIGHTS, governments are instituted among men”
—The American Declaration of Independence.

Anything beyond that is outside the scope of purpose for American governance - and I'm against it.

AGAINST 3 items, in particular:

1. Raising taxes on anyone, especially business.

2. Increasing any restrictions on business. (In fact, all ridiculous policy restrictions on business operations should be removed by the EPA).

3. Any Government intrusion in private business policies outside of unfair rate hikes in utilities and pricing.

Are they against giving tax cuts to virtually every worker...

How does this buffoon intend to give a tax cut to someone who doesn't pay taxes? Barack Hussein Obama is a liar.

The premise of his rhetorical questions are approaching the level of criminality. Getting police and firefighters "back to work" is not a Federal function. Short-term grants do not make these jobs permanent. Police and fire jobs are highly dependent on property tax and sales tax - both local sources.

If the economy is in the crapper, Barry would rather provide temporary feel-good fixes (grants and political pay-ffs to unions), rather than getting out of the way of the small businesses that will allow both local property taxes and local sales taxes to improve, to allow laid-off police and fire personnel to get back to work.

The use of false-premise questions is getting frickin' embarrassing to watch. They try to pose the questions as a series of Hobson's Choice but in reality they are more like "when did you stop beating your wife" in their construct. "Would you rather give tax breaks to millionaires or starve children" has GOT to stop, and true conservatives NEED to push back with logical arguments.

The Laffer Curve has been side-lined....it works.

As this economist points out, all of Obama’s jobs plans and green loans cost over $250k per job created/saved. The Nevada solar loan for 3/4 billion dollars costs $700k per construction job.

what’s even more pathetic is the non-response from the GOP....they continually opportunity after opportunity to cut this pr!ck off at the knees yet rarely grab hold of it...

how about this- “we are going through painstaking due diligence over the proposed bill so as to not waste taxpayer $$$ and end up with another failed bill such as the stimuloss, which the democrats and president unilaterally rammed down the taxpayer throats and never met expectations or worse yet- solyndra- where obama’s crony’s made out with half a billion $$$ and the taxpayer was left footing the bill- once again!”

go after this POS now!!!

Teachers, Policemen, Firemen do not create jobs, design, manufacture anything. These jobs are usually funded for about 6 months and then the layoffs begin and 99 years of unemployment payments begin. This is a super big entitlement program to buy votes.

Rightly or wrongly, you are perceived by the electorate as a socialist. The day you’re out of office, the economy will immediately begin to improve and heal itself. Republicans don’t have to do anything except help you pack your bags.

What are you for and what are you against?

For: long term, economically productive jobs that grow an economy

Against: meddling big government policies that discourage employers from hiring.
